I never posted on the threads, but I loved reading them. :-) I do quilt, but haven't done much lately.
I love the foxes on the first blocks. I love all the fox fabrics lately. Your churn dash block is gorgeous, too!

Hi All, I have been around the 2 Peas boards for many years, but I didn't visit a lot during the last year or two. I would love to join the Quilting/Sewing Peas Group, if possible. I am a real "Newbie" to quilting/sewing, but I'm very eager to learn. My 11 yr. old daughter and I just made our very first lap quilt tops this summer, and we can't wait to finish them. (Though the rest of the process makes me a little nervous, honestly! I just don't want to mess up what we've done.) Silly, right? Anyway, I love seeing your blocks, GypsyGirl, and I look forward to seeing other Peas' creations, too!

I'm here! I haven't been doing too much lately though. I am s l o w l y learning to paper piece so I can make a pretty complicated Harry Potter quilt for DGD#1. I started the first block, then put it aside for quite a while and forgot how to do it

I am a sewer/quilter but did not post on the threads. I am working on two hexagon quilts, one is a scrappy 16 patch and the other is a Grandmother's flower garden. I am also working on a cupcake applique quilt for my DD. I love the churndash block and have a huge collection of 1930's that would be perfect for it.

Actually, the pieces in the blocks are so small I have the Add-an-Eighth ruler. I'm not sure what possessed me to do this for my first paper pieced project!

Another sewer/quilter that didnt post on the threads. (I may have answered a question once...maybe) I currently have two quilts "actively" in progress. I am doing Eleanor Burns new Grandma's Kitchen as a quilt of the month club and one of the Joann fabric QOTM also (thou that is a WHOLE other story).

I just finished a quilt. I'm putting a tutorial for it on my blog soon. Here's a pic of it all folded up.

I'm a quilter - well at least a piecer lol, I don't do well with the actual quilting. It seems like forever since I've worked on anything, I've spent too much time working out in the yard lately, but with the temps heating up...my thoughts have turned more to sewing. I've got a couple of projects I need to start on soon tho. I just ordered (and got) a quilting magazine from England that featured a quilt by Camille Roskelly - love her stuff. I want to use some of her April Showers line for that quilt, which I have - but I need to buy some solid white yardage first. I've also started looking for ideas for a "monster" quilt for a new nephew due in October. I think those will keep me quite busy this summer!

I've done a few paper pieced quilts (one doll sized, two twin sized). In some ways I love the crispness, but in others I hate the actual process and if you are doing a lot of the same blocks, it seems to me to be more monotonous (sp?)
But you can achieve some very very cool things with paper piecing. I have found Judy Niemeyer's quilts to have great instructions. The Bella Bella (Nora McMeeking?) one was a bit harder because she didn't provide templates or tell you really how to cut your fabric.

I am. We tried it at 2 peas but this board is a lot more user-friendly.

I'm working on wedding sewing this summer. The muslin for dd's dress is almost done. We bought Truly Victorian patterns for the bustled petticoat and skirt. We are doing a corset pattern from Simplicity and the bodice is a Project Runway Simplicity dress pattern. It's really coming together and looking fabulous. DD is super excited and happy with it so far.

I am trying to finish up an applique flower border on a twin single nine patch for my niece. And just started a king sized Tennessee Waltz and am still working on my hand sewn elongated hexagon English paper piecing quilt. Need to not start more until at least one of these is finished!

Here are two quilts I did so far this year. The blue one is a sudoku quilt and was super easy. The brightly colored one is a houndstooth quilt and I actually did make the topper before I even shopped for the backing. I found this super perfect match backing and nearly passed out! meredith

I didn't post much on the thread at 2P, but I am a sewer (sewist, whatever the heck the term is these days). I like the idea of a monthly thread.

I'm a quilter. Unfortunately, work and life have been far too busy over the last year to do much and I'm in the middle of renovation projects, but I'm optimistic I'll at least be able to finish some ongoing projects soon.

I am teaching myself how to sew/embroider...does that count? And I buy fabric like a heroin addict buys smack. I spent the day using scraps to make cards, it has been fun.

I am also a quilter. I use this hobby as a form of therapy. I have been making quite a few quilts for my daughter's friends. I enjoy finding fabric and patterns that reminds me of them. I do send out my quilts to a long armer to be quilted. I really like the blocks you have made!

I'd love to keep a monthly quilting thread going. I'd also love for us to share patterns and possibly even a "swap meet" to get rid / collect more fabric. We all have that fabric stash that we know we just won't ever use.

I can sew but never tried a quilt. I loved looking at all the beautiful quilts and sewing projects on the old board. It was so nice to see people take their time to answer questions, help others.
My biggest project this year so far was baby burp cloths and baby bibs for my new grandson. Oh and I reupholstered some kitchen chairs which required sewing.

In the interest of full disclosure, I only piece. I send my tops out to be quilted. I do make the occasional rag quilt for gifts which are really my favorite to make but hate all the cutting. I'm about to start a new baby boy rag quilt next week and really looking forward to it because I really love the fabrics. I'm also starting grad school in the fall and want to make just one more before I hit the books hard core. I just can't decide what to make and with what fabrics. What are your favorite online quilt shops? Patterns? I personally love shopping on www.fabric.com, etsy and fatquartershoppe.com. I'm sure I have others but can't remember. meredith

Ooohhh! I forgot about Hawthorne! Great site and I totally agree that is is fabric porn!
I don't have a really good quilting shop in my town either. We have one that seems to only have calicos and "dated" looking fabrics that seem to only appeal to an older quilter. They don't have any of the more modern fabrics at all. Plus, they never offer any new classes. They've been doing the same rotating 6-8 classes for years. I really don't know how they are staying in business. There is another shop but they are more of the apparel fabrics that can sometimes crossover to quilting. Know what I mean?
I hate shopping online sometime because I love to shop and match up stuff that isn't necessarily part of a grouping but.... My 3-4 quilting / sewing friends keep dreaming about our fabric store. Sigh....if only.
