Just wondering how the majority of people store their Copic markers. I have a bunch that I am currently storing in Ikea Grundtal containers (one is a large rectangular box and the others are round). I like the system because they hang right above my desk and are easy to access, but I have found recently that they seem to have a lot of ink accumulation and they have been "leaking" a little. By this I mean that when I remover the marker lid, some of them seem to have so much ink buildup that if I'm not careful I get ink blotches everywhere. I thought that maybe Copies should be stored horizontally rather than vertically. When I did a search on the topic, low and behold I did find something that says although there is no "right" way to store them, it is recommended that they be stored horizontally. So now I seem to be on a quest to find a new system for storing my Copic markers and thought I'd see how people here are storing them.

I also had the Copic bag insert referenced by @thekatsmeow but I outgrew it. The same etsy seller (TJ and Things) sells an insert plus a Really Useful Box combo that I now have and really like. A friend of mine has an insert from them that fits the top shelf of an Ikea Raskog. Good quality products.

I moved mine into one of the close to my heart stamp organizers. (The cube-like ones that hold about 15 stamp sets, not the more rectangular boxes.) I have one box for copics and one for spectrum noirs.
I think those blobs come from unequal pressure, though I don't know how the pressure gets out of whack. Generally, if I notice it on a tip (hopefully before I start coloring!!!), I pull off the other cap and set it down on my table for a minute. Usually fixes it. When I get annoyed by dried build up on the marker/cap, I just clean it with some rubbing alcohol.

So now I seem to be on a quest to find a new system for storing my Copic markers and thought I'd see how people here are storing them. Leakage is usually from overfilling. I was told (and it works) that if you take both caps off, the leaking stops. I actually managed to get a Copic Spica acrylic display case from a LSS going out of business for $5, but I love it. I keep my copics, my triplus fineliners, my SU markers, my few distress markers and all of my various AC markers in it. There is a retail display for Copics that you can buy, too. Amazon has it. It's retail is around $75 but I've seen it go as low as $30. www.amazon.com/dp/B002PSFJQK/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1P8L6K0Y8W6TN&colid=WJ3T822XJMM9 If you've ever seen copics on display at M's or HL, this is the exact unit they use. The low star ratings are from people who received it damaged, but we all know that Amazon is great when dealing with those types of problems.

Thanks for all the suggestions! WOW! I didn't realize Copic storage could be so expensive!! I love how mine are stored so I'm going to go with some of the suggestions about fixing the leakage before I change my system. I think the one Sketch marker that I am having the most difficulty with may possibly be caused by me overfilling. Ooops. User error!

I store mine in these Spectrum Noir trays. I have two sets so that I can also fit my distress crayons and journaling pens too.

I need storage for my Spectrum Noir markers and did a Pinterest search yesterday. I can't link (it's blocked at work), but there are some pretty nice inexpensive DIY's out there.

I also have mine in a Close to My Heart stamp storage box (the square one). It'll hold around 150 by my estimation. I'm not one to feel the need to have all the colors, so that should last me for all the storage I need.
