There are a lot of sales happening at Ali's this summer. Every time I check, some new category/theme is on sale.
(not bought anything so far, mind you)

I didn't get anything from the digital sale. I just have SUCH A HARD TIME pushing myself to buy digitals. I use digitals/hybrid scrapbook pretty frequently, but I have so many digitals from my story kit sub, FYC & other freebies I've collected through the years that I just have a hard time pulling the trigger with the price tag on them. I also am pretty good with photoshop/an apple pencil, so I always tell myself, I can reproduce that! Of course, I don't have the time to make all the digitals I want and they're not the same, but I just can't get past the price tag on them. It's just a hang up I have... idk what it is. I would love to have the SBTM kits digitally, but they are just so expensive... their original price is more than the physical version. And I couldn't pick just one... I want them all (well, some I like more than others, but I want most of them). I know lots of people are already annoyed with her prices, but I just wish she would increase the price of the physical products by a couple dollars and throw in the digital. I miss the days when she threw in the digital for free with WITL, etc. Or if she just significantly reduced the price... like $2/monthly kit or something. I know it costs her time to create the designs, but she's making these in physical products so she has to design them anyways... the digitals are pure profit. I don't blame her I guess, people are willing to pay for it, it's just my own personal hang up... Totally agree with this. If the digitals were included with the SBTM kits I would still be subscribing as I could stretch my supplies out so much more. I feel the digital kits are too expensive when you consider what they include (or don't include).

I didn't get anything in the digital flash sale, but I did pick up a few kits in today's sale. Placing two orders ended up being cheaper on shipping though.

I considered a stamp in today’s sale, but I just picked up the digital version of it yesterday. They totally did the sale in the wrong order!

I did a thing.
Bought three kits.
Completely unlike me, not sure what came over me.

So, I might have purchased 8 items (2 stamps and 6 story kits). I justified it because I was able to get it for about half off since I wasn't able to apply my credit card points to another order I placed the other day and they were burning a hole in my pocket. I'm excited for the themes I picked up because most of them are ones that I can easily incorporate into my every day scrapbooking rather than trying to find a story to work with them (which is why most of the themes I have in my stash have hardly been used even with breaking them down and trying to make them more usable and also why I like the SBTM better). I really need to slow down on the spending, though. If I hadn't been able to use those points, I probably wouldn't have ordered since I'm still expecting to spend more than I already have this month whenever the 9x12 SB.com page protectors pop up. It seems all the things show up at once. I go months without much of anything appealing to me and then 4 or 5 sales of things I love pop up all in the same couple of weeks. I bought several stamps for $12 in the last Ali sale back in March, so this sale being a bit better definitely got me.

It’s so true. All of the new releases for stamps companies I like are too close together and I buy too much around the same time ha!
I picked up a stamp, story kit and some embellishments from some of the months that I had skipped. I really just need to stick to picking up kits at her sales.

I placed two orders. Whoops! It was easier to find things yesterday, when the sold out items moved to the bottom. In my defense, I am working on a travel album, so the sale WITL stuff works great with that. I really need to curb my spending, though.

Whooo! Get it while the getting’s good! Don’t want to miss those DD journal cards that are marked down .50 cents off!
Seriously now, aren’t these the exact same DD kits HSN has on clearance for $22 dollars?

Interesting that one kit is listed as originally $39.99 on HSN but only $29.99 on AE.

HSN wouldn't ship those kits internationally (at least not to Australia) so for those of us outside the US it is a good pick up! I did notice though that the Joyful album on its own is only $2 cheaper than the whole kit with album included!?

The other day I put some stuff in my cart, adding up to almost $30, saw shipping was going to be over $10, thought that was too much (I’m a total tightwad when it comes to shipping fees). So just navigated away. Later in the day a FB ad had a free ship code if you spend $50. I couldn’t find enough product I wanted to get to that point though. I kept adding stuff and then deleting it because I knew I didn’t really want it.
But then I wondered if classes would work to reach the shipping threshold - added the travel class - it worked. I am so so so glad. I finished Ali’s process videos today. I absolutely loved it. Her whole take on making the photos the foundation of every page has me so excited about applying that method to a few projects I’ve been stuck with. I think it’s exactly the right approach I’ve been needing!
I’m already 100% pleased with the purchase and I’m stoked there’s still all the other contributors to check out. That’s all bonus content, as far as I’m concerned. So thrilled and inspired by just Ali’s portion. I did not (and have no plans to) purchase that travel product kit, and don’t feel compelled to, still. I’ll be able to adapt all the methods to other stuff easily.
Just wanted to share my 2 cents!

I'm set to skip this month, but may change if I'm wowed by the kit. The add-ons aren't wowing me. Many of the same sentiments I already have. I do love the puffy heart stickers tho.

I'm looking forward to this kit, but so far I'm disappointed. It looks like "change" and "progress". As someone who has subbed to the story kits since the beginning, I am finding that lots of the kits have similar themes through the years... for example, roam (July 2020), journey (July 2019), adventure (July 2018) and wild (April 2016) were all similar themes but different color schemes. Sometimes there is overlap in sentiments/design. Honestly, I'm not super bothered by this because I think there are a limited number of topics that would work for story kits and I think that many of her customers haven't bought every single kit so it gives them an opportunity to get useable themes. But I do see how it could be too repetitive if you still have old unused kits. I agree that "transitions" is going to be similar to "change" and "progress." For upcoming themes, I imagine that "cozy" will be similar to "rest." "Together" will be similar to "gathering" and "bond." "Morning" might be similar to "AM/PM." Again, this doesn't bother me, my stories have changed and I still have more to scrapbook... but I totally see how this could turn people away from buying the kits. I love your layout so much I'm considering buying the kit! And a perfect spread it is! ♥ Thank you guys It came out just like I envisioned so I'm happy with it too!

Summer kits seem to always have at least one travel theme (not just AE, either), so it's almost like she just looked up synonyms and is choosing one to use for a summer month every year.

Hi! Sorry I kept meaning to respond to your request but wanted to go back and look at my notes for the class because I did it so long ago. Personally, I loved the class. However, if you only do digital and already have your own aesthetic some of the content would not be helpful so I'm not sure if you would be able to get enough out of the class to be worth it, but it definitely depends on how much you think tips in those areas you mentioned would be helpful. For me, the stuff you are interested in was the least useful, but I also have been scrapbooking for 15+ years and have learned a lot of stuff along the way. So I take classes more to see the pretty projects/flipthroughs than get ideas because it is rare that someone shares an idea I haven't seen/thought of already. Here is a breakdown of what I remember from the class (without giving away her paid content obviously): Week 01: Probably wouldn't be helpful to you. It goes over different ways you can document a trip (and you already seem to know you want to go with digital) and she shows her completed and in-progress projects and where she is for each one. She has a lot of project types she shares, including a digital photo book. She also gives an overview of steps to follow when documenting a trip, but these things were self-explanatory to me. I could see it being helpful for someone who is new to scrapbooking vacations or feels lost with where to start, but that isn't me. Week 02: Before you travel. She had some good ideas here for things to consider to frame the stories/photos/memorabilia you will want to collect while you're traveling. I could see this being helpful if you're planning an upcoming trip but, obviously, it won't help for older trips. Some of it focused on scrapbooking on the road but definitely not all of it. This comes with an hour long video presentation. Week 03: During travel. Some basic things to think about while collecting your stories/photos/memorabilia. Then she provided lists of ideas for each category. There are 20 ideas for words, 19 for photos and 3 for ephemera. I thought most of these were self explanatory or didn't speak to me, but again I don't feel like I struggle in this area... I took the class for the motivation to finish old albums and see her projects. If you really are stumped on what to collect or feel like you always do the same thing and your content is stale, having these lists could be helpful. It has over an hour long video presentation for each words and photos. Again, this probably wouldn't help for trips in the past. Week 04: After travel. This was a checklist of what to do right after you travel and steps to building an album. It comes with a video that is over 1 hour long. I'm not sure how helpful this is if you already have a process, but again, it depends on what you are struggling with and why you're interested in taking the class in the first place? Week 05: This is a process video of a 12x12 album and a flip through. In summary, you would have about 4 hours worth of video content, and various lists of ideas for the topics you are interested in (weeks 2-4). Personally, the parts of this class that shone were the parts that you're not interested in (weeks 1 & 5), but then that might just be because the before/during/after travel stuff isn't where I struggle and I took the class mostly for the motivation to continue projects that I had stalled on and to see her process video & flip throughs. I hope this is helpful! I really appreciate the time you took to write all that out for me, thank you! I'm actually not all that interested in scrapping past trips or the past, period (a lot of painful stuff I'm content to forget with the passing of time). My husband is Australian and we had planned a trip there for later this year, which was obviously scuttled thanks to the pandemic. It would be my first time visiting, and my first time on a plane in well over a decade, so I was, for obvious reasons, wanting to scrap the heck out of it. So I was hoping for mindset help, ideas on how to approach what I'm including, journaling suggestions, and all of that jazz, but yes, I've already got the format and design aspects of the "how?" completely covered. I will think on this some more, because snippets of what you explained are included would still be helpful, but certainly not for $49. I sadly have a very long time before this trip happens now, so that means plenty of time to hope for a sale or something. (Does she often run sales or giveaways on classes, as she's doing right now with that bundle that someone kindly posted about the other day?) Thank you again for your detailed help!

The fact that words are similar don't bother me. What does is that Ali and her team won't change the content much apart from the color palette. The words decided for each month have nuances. "Journey" doesn't equate "roam" and "adventures", but the content is the same, with the same words and quotes used interchangeably. There is so much more to do than the umpteenth "we have nothing to do and the world to see", "progress not perfection", etc. I understand your point of view, though.
