The Inked warehouse is the Beanie Babies collection of scrapbooking supplies. Or lula roe. Hey now, my leggings come in handy to wear under jeans or dress pants when it is cold outside! 😂

I found a few things I would have gotten yesterday but I couldn't get the free shipping code to work so I didn't bother. The email made it appear as though there was no minimum but the website was saying the code required a $75 minimum. I saw on FB that it does require $75 & I said screw that...the everyday minimum is $79! Admittedly the shipping isn't bad for what I have in my cart, but I really don't need more product... ha. I figured the same thing out. Sure I could pay for shipping, but I really didn't need the stuff anyway and definitely don't need the stuff if I have to pay shipping.

VERY disappointed in her sale ... yet again. Ugh. I don't consider $4 off of a $40 item a sale. That's frankly ridiculous to me. Why bother?

Is she not offering the custom acrylic OLW words this year in her shop?

Is she not offering the custom acrylic OLW words this year in her shop? No. No custom digital or acrylic words this year. No explanation but she referred everyone to Colleen Attara in her OLW collection blog post.

No explanation but she referred everyone to Colleen Attara in her OLW collection blog post. I wonder if it is due to a manufacturing change. They are switching out the acrylic words in the story kits too - based on "feedback."

There was a lot of leftovers from the last few years plus they have the quarterly kit now. I think if things stay where they are now she might cut on travel kits as well as last year was the first year where the main kit did not sell out.

I also wondered if there was less inventory or if there were more new participants who follow the guests hosts in the workshop. Either way good for Ali and hey, now I don’t have to worry about FOMO buying it lol.

I didn't buy last year's travel kit because I didn't like the colors and designs as much, plus people didn't travel much last year, so those may have been factors. I thought it was interesting the 2020 kit sold out before the 2019 one did.

Interesting... Ali has announced she's stepping back from social media and having someone else run it. I'll be curious at how that works out. On a personal aspect, it's probably a great move to begin to pull back as the family gets older and more into how much they want of themselves or there. From a business perspective, I wonder if there will be a decline... part of her brand to date is the direct connection to her stories she provides.

I'm actually interested to see how Lisa Varshine does. I love her finished work, even though I don't love her tutorials, ha. I hope this means that Ali will have more freedom to be creative. I think she's realizing that she's less interested in running the business and more interested in going back to her origins. This works if you have a good team around you. Here's the FB post in its entirety.

I think at some point in your life you start making hard choices. Her name is her brand; without Ali, it’s just a bunch of overpriced scrapbooking products. I applaud her though. I have seen some people where I work stepping down from higher responsibilities and salaries when many only want to go up. People make choices that feel right for them or their families. It’s nice when you have that choice to make. It will be interesting to see the new admin and her involvement. Ali said she would still be sharing things on her blog and do memory keeping but I do feel like stepping down will be somewhat impactful.

I didn't see the announcement until I read it here. I don't use FB a lot and when I do go to Craft the Story/DD etc its too Fan Girlie for me. So in that way I probably won't be impacted that much. That being said, I don't have any Ali subs at the moment, and I probably won't be tempted back unless I see Ali's Story Kit layouts. Ever since Brandi stopped being part of the team, I have become less and less interested. Even DD - I preferred Jennie's DD to Ali's. www.instagram.com/thereypie/I do go to the AE blog, from time to time - for book recommendations and to see what's up. So I guess if Ali is still posting there it's possible that she could woo me back. But I agree with happyscrappydo without Ali & her magic dust her products are "just a bunch of overpriced scrapbooking products". I've pretty much decamped to KP/PP. If the "deeper creating", leads to design changes, that would be an improvement. Changing subject: Pam Baldwin posted recently on IG that the First Story Kit Class is Free - if anyone is interested. www.aliedwards.com/shop/classes/firsts-free-trial-classroomOh and Happy New Year everyone! Scotland isn't letting Trump visit - wooo hooooooo www.npr.org/2021/01/05/953627011/scotland-s-leader-says-trump-wouldn-t-be-allowed-to-visit-under-pandemic-rule

Well, I had to laugh when she said she wants to consume less. This coming from someone who has a new kit/product/release every other week.

I’m happy for her and hope this does help her be able to be more creative and energetic with her projects. Early last year she seemed to have extra mojo and pep, but that fizzled with the pandemic.
When Ali is excited about her projects, that enthusiasm shines through. More creative Ali in exchange for less social media Ali is a good trade in my book.

I feel like she should have hired a full time social media coordinator a long time ago. If you have a decent sized brand and thousands of followers, it's hard to keep up with everything on the socials and make your business fresh too. I haven't bought anything except the Roam digital kit this year and some clearance DD stuff and I don't really participate in the facebook groups much so I won't be missing that much.

Honestly - bravo I hope it works out for her.
After several years of *us* whining that BH refused to step back a bit and insisted on dragging her company down with her, I can’t complain about Ali taking measures to move her company in a different, less self focused direction. If it doesn’t work out she could step back in.
This is what you do as your business becomes more successful, and you no longer have to wear all of the hats, you delegate the less fulfilling to you tasks to qualified staff and continue doing the parts that fulfill you.

I kind of doubt she’ll stop posting to IG since she never mentions this in her post, and it is the place she keeps some of her “stories” that she later scraps. It seems to me like posting content and answering FB questions is mostly what she’s walking away from? I generally dislike that FB is a customer service/support option but when you have Inked as your actual CS support, you should expect FB groups to pick up the slack.

She has a separate company IG from her ‘personal’ IG plus the DD IG so there’s plenty of IGing to go around

She's getting getting a Community Manager, people, stop panicking over whose feet will be all over her Insta grid. That's the person who does the annoying work of managing the community, AKA fangirls vs critics (to oversimplify things). I don't know why she didn't hire one earlier. As soon as you can afford one for your brand, get one. It's one of the most exhausting fronts to handle. Is Lisa actually skilled in this? Shit, this is a job for people who are very up to date on everything online communications. We're talking people who've studied digital marketing, communications with a focus on social networking, etc.
