Uff da. Though I think 1500 miles is a bit far to travel for firewood for me.

Ours is gas, so no need for your generous offer.

No fireplace, but thanks for the offer. Plus wood burning is strongly discouraged and banned in some counties (unless that's the primary heat source) because of our poor air quality in the winter.

Three fireplaces (though we only use one and not all that often) but the states around here forbid bringing in out of state wood due to the emerald ash bore.

Yes, it has held candles for 14 years and never been lit.

We have a gas fireplace, and an electric...and still the wood from 4 trees from Hurricane Matthew! Here's to colder weather soon for outdoor firepit burning!
Hope your clean up is going as well as possible! Hang in there!!

I don't think it will be dry in time for this winter.

Hope your clean up is going as well as possible! Hang in there!! It's going... slowly. No major damage, thank goodness, but the company that was scheduled to start picking up yard waste in our area this week was a no-show. They weren't finished with the previous area, so couldn't come here. Nothing has been picked up yet, so there are still huge piles lining all our streets. We do have power, only out for a week, so we're better off than some. We're just thankful the damage wasn't worse. SaveSave

We have an outdoor burn pit, but I have so much of my own crap to burn. We will be 90 before it is gone.

This reminds me:
We took down a tree and were cutting it up, some ashat middle aged guy pulled over and said.
Since you don't have a fireplace, you can drop that off my house, here's my address.
Yes he got an ear full.

I would live to have that piece with the burl. What type of wood is that?

We lost a giant hickory tree in SC's 1000-year flood event two years ago. It fell toward our house and grazed the back bending the guttering a little. It also bent up the dryer vent and then punched through a window in a utility room in the basement. We were very lucky that it fell on an angle rather than straight on to the back of the house.
We do have two wood-burning fireplaces, but did not keep any of the wood. Some guys who run those professional barbecues came and cut it up and hauled it away.
