I love Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
I don't see Sugar by the Archies mentioned or a couple of favorites on our block back in the day: Sneaky Snake and Chevy Van. Another I have heard on the 70's channel not sure of name but lyrics are "we can take a ride on my Harley if the chain don't break"
70's on 7 has called these song selections Jukebox of Cheese and Jukebox of DYNOMITE. I prepare myself for the singalong

Anyone remember TIME IN A BOTTLE from Jim Croce ? It was such a sad song. And, "Bye,bye, miss AMERICAN PIE", drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry..." It's still a great song. My girls used to listen to it in the 90s and even they loved it. So many memories...

I love the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald too. Sugar, by the Archies, is actually from the 60s. I think the other song you are thinking of is Motorcycle MamaSave

On my way to work this morning 70's played "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road" and I knew I had to come back to comment on it - yes I sang the whole song! LOL

Ode to Billy Joe - a song that was turned into a made-for-tv movie. Both bad. Can I just bump this to share that “Ode to Billy Joe” was just sung on the Voice? And that Miley and Adam fought over the singer? LOL!

Yet Disco Duck continues to be ignored. Shame.

How about Blind Man in the Bleachers? Made my husband listen to it once when it came on during a car ride - he's just enough younger than me that he'd never heard it. End of the song, and he was all like "The old guy DIED? All that time going to the damn games and his son finally plays and the old guy is DEAD! What a terrible song!" So then we started listing all the depressing songs from the 70's and it kept us busy all the way to our destination Giggling like crazy over here. Tragedy was a popular theme in 70's music. Honey Wildfire Hello, this is Joanie Run Joey Run Rocky (Austin Roberts) Shannon Not only tragedy, there was also a lot about getting it on... Afternoon delight Thunder Island
