This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These need to be posted in the body of your message post. LAYOUTS MUST BE HOSTED FROM ANOTHER SITE SUCH AS PHOTOBUCKET. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts.
4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Nylene

It's hard to believe that tomorrow will be September. The leaves all around the neighborhood are beginning to turn, the children are all back in school, my tomato plants are putting out more than we can eat, so that must mean it IS September.
Cindy, you really did a wonderful job on those last two layouts. If anyone missed them on the August thread, go back and take a look.http://2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/4272/pokey-peas-refugees-challenge-august?page=5
I hope as the weather cools and we have less outside activities going we will see more layouts on this site. How I wish we had a gallery here. I really miss going through the 2peas gallery every day or two.
Have a great Labor Day (those in the US) and everyone else, have a nice Monday and rest of the week.
I'll catch up with all of you after DH's surgery Tues, and post-op Wed. We are so fortunate to have a DD who wants to drive us to SLC both days. I know I could do it, but I also know I'll be nervous. I think she plans to hop on the TRAX train with Alex (he loves trains) and ride around for a couple of hours. She can get on and off at various stops to look around and then get back on. What a sweetie she is.
ETA: Dani, I noticed you joined Marianne's Stashbusters Challenge on Cocoa Daisy. Yay! She has some great ideas! You can use your layouts done for this challenge and they have a gallery over there. You don't have to subscribe to their kit either.

Thanks for the new thread Nylene and also your kind words about my layouts. I had fun doing them. I actually have two photos printed that I plan to paper scrap tomorrow! Our Fall hiking spree starts tomorrow! I never got to finish last year but I am determined to earn my hiking staff this year. So hike no. 1 tomorrow if it is not raining! Well I have not felt well all day, but Iam finally feeling better so going to bed soon. BBT! Oh Nylene I am glad your DD is taking you to the hospital.

Hi dear girls! I am feeling much, much better! Thank God! I played a little yesterday with some gesso and molding paste. Have you girls used it ? I think I like the molding paste better. I also played with water colors. It was fun, but nothing serious. Just experimenting.
Yes, Nylene. I join Mariane Stash Busters challenge. I sub'd for the scrap booking kit. I have not received it yet, but I knew it would take long to get them. Perks of living abroad.
Like Cindy, I am glad you daughter will drive you. This way you can focus on your husband. Please keep us posted about surgery and results.
Cindy, tell more about this hiking spree. What do you have to accomplish to get a staff (you mean that long wood stick, right?)
I did finish one page yesterday. I will take a picture and will post here later.
Hope all of you are doing fine.

Cindy and Dani, I'm glad you are each feeling better today.
Cindy, I can't remember how many hikes it takes to get your staff. I know you can do it. I wish I could do it with you.
It's great to see you popping in. I'm trying to get a few things done before we leave tomorrow. I have started a Fall wreath for my door and need to get it finished today. Also need to make sure the house is clean because I'm sure some of DH's friends will drop by in the next couple of days to check on him. Of course I'll just close my scraproom door!!LOL!

Hi Everyone! Hope your weekends have gone well! Here's a run down on the Hiking Spree. You have from Sept. 1-Nov. 30 to complete 8 hikes to earn your hiking staff. It is a wooden pole. They attach metal shields to it each year after you earn when you finish the hikes. This year's shield will also go on the staff when I get it. It is cute it has a cute raccoon on it. We did our first hike today. It was the Deep Lock Quarry and was 1.2 miles long. I did get a few photos of it. I could not believe how many girls were down there walking it with small babies! There were several couples hiking that had at least 30 shields on their staffs. The trails are chosen from a list they give you. Most trails are around 1-2miles but are also moderate to strenuous. Dani I have used both gesso and moulding paste and I like moulding paste better also. I did a layout where I used it I will find it and link it for you. A fun thing to do with it is to apply it over a stencil then carefully pull the stencil up and then let it dry. Here's the link to the layout I used it on with a stencil. It is the white damask design that I matted the photo on- Grandmother PageWell I am going to go-I straightened up my scrap room today and have 2 photos ready to be scrapped!

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I have been creating more art and working on my art video. I hope to have it finished by the end of the week. Can't wait to share it with you all. Cindy- I gotta go back and leave some praise on all your marvelous layouts. So glad to see ya scrappin'! And this hike sounds great! I hope you earn your badge/staff. That would be a fun thing to do and I know you will get some nice pictures along the way. Go girl!!! Nylene- Thanks for the new thread! You really keep us going around here and you are appreciated. You and your dh are in my thoughts tomorrow and hope it all goes great. Dani- Yes, I have used both modeling paste and gesso. I used gesso for mixing with my colors and sometimes preparing the surface of my paper. I haven't used the paste very much but it does add nice dimension and texture. So cool you are playing around with it all. Fun isn't it?

Just a quick check in to let you know everything went well with Steve's surgery. He is sleeping and hasn't really tried to see, but will recheck with the surgeon in the morning and we will know more. The surgeon said the lens should stay in place now since he sutured it to the iris. I'll be back to chat after tomorrow.

Thanks for the update Nylene, glad Steve is resting and this surgical procedure should set the lens in place.
My mom had a follow-up with her eye surgeon today for the revision on her cornea transplant. Her eye is still, and will continue to be partially sewn shut for another 10 months or so, but the eye surgeon was optimistic that she should regain some vision.

Bonnie, I'm so sorry your mom is having issues with her eye. About 15 years ago they had decided to do a cornea transplant on one of DH's eyes, but a SLC specialist said it was damaged from herpes, from when he had chicken pox, and he thought he could peel off the top layer and maybe avoid the transplant. His cornea looked like mountains and valleys on the surface of the moon. We were fortunate that he really was able to remove that bumpy layer. It saved the site in that eye until the macular degeneration got so bad. So it gave him another 15 years of sight. My prayers are with you and your mom as she goes through this. 10 months of having the eye sewn shut doesn't sound pleasant, but I hope it gives her some sight. Hugs! BTW, I saw some great new pages you posted at Scrapbook.com. You ought to share them here too.
I have a couple of pages I need to share here. I have decided that I do a lot more scrapping when I'm stressed, and this has been a stressful few weeks. I'll post them on PB and then link them here.
Hope you are all out enjoying the last of the good weather!

I think everyone here needs a hug with all the illness and stress going on! I am send a big ole one! Group hug time! Nylene- So glad to hear things went well for your dh. Yes, scrappin and art are great stress relievers. Grateful we have that outlet. Hang in there! Bonnie- Hang in there too. Well, today I worked on another painting. I am almost finished and they always surprise me how they turn out. I gotta stop to make some dinner and hope to finish it tomorrow. I thought I would make pancakes for dinner as a special treat for us. I didn't get to make them over the weekend so this seems like a fun time to have them while we watch an old movie. Take care all and have a nice evening.

Good morning! I had to to take the time to stop and say how we really take our gift of sight for granted until you read about folks struggling with theirs. I pray both Steve and Bonnie's mom sight is restored to normal. Thinking of all of you be back later.

Hi Pokeys! I have missed chatting with all of you! Nylene, love the page! I like the different backgrounds on each page, it really makes it pop! I am so glad your DH surgery went well! What is the recovery process like? Bonnie, so sorry your mom is dealing with that! Eye problems can be so scary. My vision was blurred about 1 month ago and I got really freaked out. It ended up being caused by an infected tooth I previously had a root canal on. I had a 2nd root canal 1 month ago and I thought all was better... until my face was swollen and in so much pain this week! I am back on antibiotics and go to the endodontist again on Monday. I dont think a 3rd root canal is smart, its obviously not working and each time it costs about $900 after my insurance. I just really don't understand whats going on and hate this sickness feeling it causes I havent been scrapping at all, cant wait to see some more September pages! You ladies give such great inspiration

Corinne, I am so sorry that you have had such a problem with your teeth. Root canals are never fun, but sounds like you have really had a terrible time. I hope the endodontist has some help for you. Hugs and prayers for you that the problem can be diagnosed and cured. I hope you are up and going strong soon. We are missing you.
Today I spent the morning running errands all over town. Spent a lot of time at the Scout Office, Staples, Costco, Timberline (for DH) and not one scrappy place. I came home exhausted and didn't even have pretty paper to show for it!! I did get my Fall wreath finished and up on the door. I guess that's my crafty for the day!
Seems like the weeks go by so quickly. I'm sure it's a sign of my old age!
Pam, we are missing you!
Cindy, are you hiking this weekend?

Yes I will be going at least one of the hikes! I am supposed to go fishing tomorrow with Bobby while Maggie is learning archery! Becky will be with her. Unless it is raining! I am tired tonight and it is very hot and muggy here. We may get rain so waiting to see if we even got tomorrow. I am going to try to get a page scrapped tonight too. Corrine-I am sorry to hear about all the problems with your root canal. Hope you feel better soon! Pam-where are you? ?

Today was a good day. Hope you all enjoyed your day too. Last night, we went to our art gallery for the opening of a new exhibit. It featured the art of a local guy and his work was great! It was so crowded I didn't get to see it all but I hope to go back again so I can appreciate it better. So, I was just happy for finally get to one of the opening nights. So cool! Today, was a lazy good day. I even got in the pool for a while and cooled off. No arts or crafts today but after last night I did get more inspiration. Nylene- I hope you got some rest this weekend. Take care of you! Pam- We miss you! Cindy- Did you enjoy the games today? Our USC team beat Stanford so we were happy. Now UCLA is playing and I hope they win, too. Did you get to take your hike and fish? Corinne- Hope you feel better soon! Toby- Your layout is so cute and that sweet doggy face is adorable. Great job on this!

Hi Sweet Peas!!! I've been MIA for a couple of weeks. I'm covered up at work, we have a couple of huge projects going right now. Thankfully, the one with the Colts will be done in a couple of weeks, it has taken a ton of planning and has been pretty stressful, although it will be cool when it's done. I did get to spend some time scrapping yesterday, I got one LO done. I have also been doing some Bible Journaling, which I really like. I bought a Notetakers Bible and have been making little LO's in the margins with my favorite verses or notes from the sermons that I hear or thought from my devotions. I like it because it lets me relate to the Bible in my favorite way... with glue and stickers. Nylene - I hope Steve is still recovering well and that his vision improves. Also, thank you for the sweet words on our blog...you are just one of the sweetest people ever! Corinne - That sounds terrible, I hate it when my mouth hurts, that does just make you feel terrible. I hope that they get you taken care of really quickly and that you feel better soon. Kelly - The art opening sounds like a lot of fun! I went to one a few months ago and I loved watching the artist enjoy how others engaged with her art...that was the best part for me. Cindy - How did the fishing go? It sounds like you have so much fun with your grandbabies. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! Tina

Welcome, Toby! Your layout is wonderful. I love the tags. Did you add your own eyelets? I forget to use eyelets and I still have quite a few. You've inspired me to pull them out. I left you a note on your Photobucket account. Kelly, the art opening sounds like a great time for you and DH. Glad you got to see most of it anyway. Have you worked on your art video? Cindy, did you end up hiking, or was it raining? We are expecting TONS of rain this week, which is always a worry about flooding. I guess it's from the hurricane off the coast sending rain clear over to Utah. Did you catch some fish? Did you take photos? Corrine, I hope you have some relief from your mouth issues. Keep in touch. Tina, be sure to post the pages you did. It's great to "see" you and know that you are ok. Your bible journaling sounds interesting. I have enjoyed watching Patter's blog about her Bible journaling. I have my scriptures on my ipad and can make notes, but I can't add all the cute designs to my thoughts. I hope you continue to enjoy it. DH thinks he's seeing a bit better today. He could read the [HASH]'s of the hymns on the hymn board, which is at the front of the chapel. That's a good sign. He just needs time and then we hope they can correct it with new glasses. I've been scrapping some this weekend, but haven't scanned anything yet. I'll try to get that done tomorrow. I have a Cub graduating and receiving his Arrow of Light on Tues and I need to cut the vinyl and make his graduation board. I also need to get a b-day package off to my DGD who is in Spain. I can't believe she's been out on her mission for 10 months. I know her mom is counting down the days til she returns. Take care of yourselves. I hope you have a bit of time for scrapping/art journaling, etc....something that brings you joy!

Hi ladies! I too have been MIA for a while. My folks were in town for 3 1/2 weeks - actually, to carry on the eye theme, my dad had to have cataract surgery and wanted to have the same doc who did his first eye 6 years ago do the 2nd eye. It's a very straightforward procedure, thankfully, and all went well. At work, a long time employee, and the person I most closely work with, left last week, so I've been having to pick up some of her work. Not much time for scrapping at home or checking in at work lately! Hopefully, things will be a bit more normal for a while . Nylene, I'm so glad to heat all went well with DH's surgery. I wish him a speedy recovery! I love your Disney layouts, I'll never get tired of them. I'm about 15 mins from Disneyland, so I've been there a fair amount. Little interesting tidbit, my company designed the structural supports for the background rockscape at the Carsland attraction. I didn't work on it personally, but I did work on the entry turnstiles for California Adventure, the bridge and the Carthay theater. I'm sorry, I can't go back to reread the thread on my phone, and I can't remember what everyone wrote, but I hope everyone's health issues get quickly resolved! You sure don't realize how much you take good health for granted until you or someone you love doesn't have it! I did a couple of layouts this weekend, and some stash reorganization. I'm trying to figure out a better way to keep/organize my supplies so they're easier to get to in my tiny house! Not sure I was super successful lol, but I sure do have plenty to stuff to get scrapping with! First layout: And 2nd: Hoping to be a bit more chatty!

Hi Pokey's! Looks like everyone is doing well! Nice meeting you Toby and welcome to the Pokeys Peas! I also left you some love on your page at Photobucket I did yours too Ann I would not forget you!
Tina-went fishing yesterday and finally caught my second fish-and he was big enough to keep. The one girl with us is having the fish we caught for her dinner tonight. When I left we had caught a total of 11. They were finally biting.
Nylene-did not make the hike this weekend so we will do one evening this week. It rained here all day Saturday and we figured the trails would be muddy. So glad to hear that Steve is coming along.
Dani-yep Huggers! If you were here I would give you one!!!!
Kelly sounds like you totally enjoyed the art museum! I watched a couple of games Saturday, and listened to the Browns lose on the radio. OHio State lost Saturday night but BAMA and Michigan State both won.
Talked to Leslie the other day on FB and she is doing well. Busy with her teaching as usual. Her daughter wentoff to college this Fall-she will be fine and so will Leslie! LOL

Well today is was raining and I know our dry climate was happy. It is still sort of warm but I think Fall is on her way. Not much going on here today besides the regular but hope to get some art in later. Nylene- So happy your dh is feeling and seeing a little better. Great news! I hope it keeps getting better and better. Yes, I am still working on my art show video. I think I have it almost done. So this week I will be sharing it. So excited! Cindy- Hooray for you! You got a fish! That sounds like it was so fun. I haven't been fishing in ages and if I was out your way maybe you all could take me. Football is here.
