I have noticed that she, Jennifer McGuire, and a couple of others pimp the Misti pretty hard in a lot of their videos. Jennifer McGuire had a video a little while back where she pretty much stated that she wasn't even going to try another positioner. I felt it was really unprofessional of her, and just badly done. She totally lost my respect after that, and I had watched her for a long time. I saw that video. I've also seen her post a few times of Instagram pictures of people from different companies within the industry all together and how wonderful the getting along is. I'm a stamper, so I see companies post collaborations all the time. Which is why I find it so interesting that some YouTubers vehemently using the MISTI. Quite honestly, and I've said it in another post, I really wonder if they have signed a contract with My Sweet Petunia. If they have, hopefully it has an end date. In a Facebook group, someone posed the question of why some "celebs" are not using Tims platform thing in their videos. Jennifer M actually responded saying "some are worried about lawsuits". She didn't go into any specifics or imply who these lawsuits would be from but she did answer the question.

Interesting. Maybe they signed some kind of exclusive agreement to receive and promote the MISTI when it first came out. Now they're stuck with it until the end of time.

Re: Tim Holtz stepping down as Creative Director This was actually discussed in General Scrapbooking. We were all surprised but less when we looked at how Ranger was expanding by taking on many different mixed media artists to develop their brands and offer several similar products under different brand names. Tim was always an innovator and someone who likes to find something new and fun, perfect it and build on that. There's a particular YouTube video in which he discusses, indeed, that Ranger was very skeptical about the Oxides, all the way back to last year (when he stepped down). They really didn't want this product released. They disliked the name Oxide and didn't want it to be used either when they finally agreed for one run of 12 colours. Tim randomly picked the initial 12 colours because he had a hard time playing favourites. Ranger had made it clear they were almost doing him a favour releasing the Oxides which took years to develop with Ranger's chemist. They would release one line of 12 colours and be done. Then the Oxides exploded and were sold out. Needless to say, Ranger had to backtrack and allowed Tim to bring out more Distress colours in that finish. If you ask me, Ranger wants to develop in a different direction overall. Tim Holtz is more of a finetuner and no longer a natural fit. They've been clashing. But he's staying with them as a brand and, hopefully, Ranger will let him continue to develop crazy inks with the chemist in the future. Iliana's hold over the big YouTube stars has nothing to do with TH himself or Ranger if you ask me. I would not be surprised if some documents were signed and some of these people are locked into an exclusivity deal for several years. Time will tell... ETA: here is the discussion about the video in which TH reveals Ranger did not want to release the Oxides. I'd typed out the major quotes while watching the video for anyone not willing to sit through 40 minutes to find the juicy gossip material.

Wow call me naïve because I never would have thought of this. But I totally believe it. It sounds just like something the MISTI creator would do.

I believe it too. And now it totally makes sense why Jennifer McGuire said she will not be reviewing any other stamp platforms.

Wasn't there some controversy at the beginning of the MISTIs being used by YouTubers that they weren't disclosing correctly that they had been given a MISTI? It seemed shady and a couple got called out for it, if I recall. Maybe that was tied into a contract, too?

Wasn't there some controversy at the beginning of the MISTIs being used by YouTubers that they weren't disclosing correctly that they had been given a MISTI? It seemed shady and a couple got called out for it, if I recall. Maybe that was tied into a contract, too? Over at Splitcoast, in a thread about the wonders of the MISTI, a poster pressed for info on whether Jennifer McGuire received hers free or paid for it (I believe the answer was that Ileana wanted to give her one, but Jennifer insisted on paying), but in the course of the conversation it came out that Ileana had contacted Jennifer early on and Jennifer helped her out with some contacts in the industry, etc. Also as part of the thread, a discussion started about craft bloggers not disclosing that they were given products for free, which was an FTC violation - there's a specific disclaimer that has to be posted and at the time, that was missing from a lot of blogs. The poster who originally questioned whether Jennifer paid for hers was permanently banned for making another member the subject of a negative post (which was, quite frankly, baloney; all the original poster did was ask a question and state that she put more faith in a review if she knew the reviewer had paid for the product herself). I don't have anything against Jennifer McGuire; I think she puts out amazing content; her tutorials are easy to follow and if free product and affiliate links are what makes that possible, good for her! But, there was a kind of dissonance between the video of "I just got this new tool and I think it's awesome" and the truth of "I saw a sample of this tool before it was available for purchase; I put the inventor in touch with some of my contacts and now that you can buy it, I'll tell you how great it is".
