I am also on the fence on the Caron cakes. I am knitting a corner to corner afghan using a simple garter stitch with the Tiramisu Big Cake. It's fun to see when the new color comes in and it's wonderful not to have to keep joining new colors. I am not liking the abrupt color changes and not having the first row of the new color all on the wrong side. Plus there are splotches of the dark dye on the lighter colors.
Can anyone suggest a good knit afghan pattern that works well with the cakes?

I just don't know what I don't care for with this one PLurker and Delta Dawn . It's a gift so it'll be on its way to its destination tomorrow. I just think I've done so many different ones over the years that this one just doesn't do it for me. The work you did is *so* precise. I think you did a wonderful job of that. The abrupt colour changes though are confusing maybe? I see what you mean and I am at a loss what to do with the big balls of yarn I have. I want to like them and i want them to make an amazing afghan. (I am open to advice...)

I bought myself a new winter coat so I crocheted myself a new infinity scarf last night. I used yarn from my stash which is always great. Crochet has been my saviour this fall. So much going on and crochet has given my brain peace and quiet It's amazing that being creative is so good for your soul. Attachments:

Made this bag for my daughter. It was hard. I won't lie. Took a long time and made a few mistakes. I never used my seam ripper on any project more than I have this one. But she loves it. The fabric is disney (mickey silhouettes) from Joann's. Purse pattern is Blanche from Swoon. http://instagr.am/p/BbT1etrlwxx i love swoon bag patterns

i love swoon bag patterns I do too. I made a Rosie for my other dd and it was so easy compared to this one. I'm a somewhat experienced sewist but the end panel seaming + the piping, + the pockets, + the foam, + the stabilizer + the drop in lining just about did me in.

I'm making my daughter a penis scarf. She asked me to make it for her months ago...yes, it has balls, a shaft, and a head. I'm probably going to regret making it for her because she's going to wear it around me and I'm going to die.

teri which raglan pattern do you use? I have the Relaxed Raglan and the Lane Raglan and want to do some long sleeve ones like yours. Also, where do you get your panels? Also, I now have Journey's Don't Stop Believin' in my head.

Also, I now have Journey's Don't Stop Believin' in my head. I use both the same ones. The sequined one is the Lane raglan and the others are the womens relaxed raglan (P4P) I used my cricut and HTV for the naughty / nice and small town girl. The Tacocat is from a 3XL shirt at Walmart. You can also go to the facebook page for sosewenglish sewalongs (you'll need to join) and they have a hack for a decorative raglan. The green panel I have in tacocat shirt. Its super easy

I have been sewing like crazy.............. I like them all but that sequined one is my favourite and it looks stunning on you. You always do such a great job. You must have a HUGE wardrobe! Do you model professionally as well?

Do you model professionally as well? it is those sequins that you can swipe across and it changes color it was a bitch to sew. Broke like 5 needles, but so worth it in the end. I recently got rid of 1/2 my wardrobe. I've lost almost 40# and nothing fit anymore. i do not model professionally. I did some modeling when I was in my early 20's. Mostly swimsuit stuff for a photographer at indoor carshows etc. Was in a few car related magazines and did some calendars. this is from a shoot in Turks and Caicos back in 1994

I'm late to the game but...WOW!!! The peas are so talented! I could never do the crochet, quilting, embroidery and sewing I see on here . Holy Moly! I love all of it. lainey that shawl is BEAUTIFUL!! The color transition is so cool. teri your sewing is amazing! And you look stunning! For some reason the computer won't let me tag Gale W. but that Disney bag is AWESOME! Love the fabric and you did a great job! I'm reserving my praise for any Christmas projects because you are making me feel like a slacker. I posted on a different thread back in October that I was washing some curb alert cosmetology heads to zombifiy for Halloween. So here they are...be warned..Look Away!! Scroll by!! if you hate that stuff. Free tub of cosmetology heads and a thrift store baby doll.. Before After (with neighbor kid as Harry Potter) My dd wanted to be a circus ringmaster (based on a guy in some music video) so I bought a thrift store suit jacket and skirt and put the back panel of the skirt onto the bottom of the jacket to make the coat. Not perfect but she liked it. And painted rocks. Hid these around town today. A cause near and dear to my heart as my 13 yr old son is Type 1 diabetic. Others painted recently..

I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick in Hudson Bay (which is an iconic Canadian design). The pattern is Infinity Scarf . I made mine 70 inches don't chain 70, it's bigger. I can wrap it around my neck 3 times You can make it as long as you want. It does however use a lot of yarn. I used 3 skeins! There was a sale at Michael's a while ago, buy one get one free. The third skein, I used a 50% off coupon It takes a couple of hours to create.

I'm busy focusing on craft shows. I have one tomorrow and then the next is Dec 2 and 9. Then done for the year. I really need to find more during the summer so that I can actually bring in more money. Here's a few things I've shared via Instagram: http://instagram.com/p/BbeoCFSnYNX http://instagram.com/p/BbLV-5xH51C Someone bought these already. http://instagram.com/p/BauPXtknOH2 I should take some more pictures tomorrow of stuff I've made recently. I plan on using the thanksgiving break to catch up on my temperature scarf.

View AttachmentView Attachment Yesterday's project... (click to enlarge) Would you be happy receiving one of these little winter wall hanging/signs made for a "fave things" party I'm going to? Everyone brings 5 of their favorite thing and goes home with 5 other people's favorite things. As the wood is from old fallen barn/shed here (free) , the letters were under $1 and nails 25-50 cents per sign and $2 yarn would make me dozens of 'flakes' I think I'm well within the $10 or less limit. (oh, ink and letter stamps also already on hand from another hobby y'all may be familiar with) ingredients: *5" wide old barn wood * "scrubby" yarn *little 3/4" nails *cheap wood letters saw wood to aprox 14" lengths, clean, pound nails, wrap yarn around nails, attach letters with additional nails and add hanger to backside. Done. shown are HOME, SNOW, LOVE and WTF (What The Flake) (I stamped "what" "the" & "flake" on corresponding letters on the WTF to "make more appropriate") I think they are great and I would love to get one in a gift exchange! I really like the home and snow panels. I would skip the WTF one unless you know everyone would appreciate it. I think the Home and snow one are more universal. Well done!!

I think the Home and snow one are more universal. Well done!! Thanks. I have other various ones incl. JOY and HOPE. There are going to be a variety of people there from college kids to college mom's and ladies in between. The college kid in my life (DD) is also going and wants me to bring one of those as it's a get to pick your gift and it may get stolen kind of thing. BUT the mom in me is gonna bring a couple extra pieces in the car in case who ever gets it didn't chose it and would rather trade. It should be ok as DD's friend (going) already wants that one. And if she doesn't get it, I'll make her one. Somehow (ok, I volunteered) I am making 5 gifts for me to bring and 5 for DD to bring. It saves her money and I like to play. The other are going to be mason jars attached to barnwood for flowers, plants, bathroom catch-all or whatever. Photos maybe coming soon...

I'm just back home from a Holiday Quilt Retreat in historic Old Salem, Winston-Salem, NC. Three days and nights of nothing but sewing all you want (and meals, and snacks, and yapping, etc.)! I didn't finish my Christmas quilt top, but I'm 2/3 of the way there. I did have a great time, though. It's not a stellar photo, but I did finish my quilt top. I added a double border, which isn't very visible. My able assistant wasn't tall enough to show the whole thing! Still pleased with how it turned out.

I started the Hotel of Bees yesterday, haven't done much so far, it was tricky to get a good tension on those long stitches and I frogged a few times till I was happy with them.

Just finished a few festive mini makes in 1/12th scale. The sledge is made of cardboard. The little paper items on the right are free printies and are a opening dolls house book/Nativity and farm house. Loved making the fireplace garland the most. Soon be time to decorate the real house and the three minis.
