This is the Stearns mansion (of Stearns and Foster). My friend is the listing agent. It is 20,000 sq. ft., with 10 bedrooms and a built in organ (you have to see the photo of this!) for $1.8 million. I actually don't think this is the most expensive, just definitely the most interesting in history, materials, and craftsmanship. Stearns Mansion All of that beautiful woodwork! This one is $33,250,000 after a price cut of $5,750,000. It straddles two counties (Sonoma/Napa). Looks beautiful. The listing is interesting and makes me wonder if everything is correct. It has 10 bedrooms and 8 baths, but only 3304 square feet? It is listed at 33 million, but zillow estimates it at only 11 million? There are 2 currently listed for $1.59 million. One is 3,780 sq feet, 4 beds 3 baths, on 25 acres with almonds. The other 6,000 sq feet, 6 beds, 5 baths, on 3 acres.
There isn’t much on the market here right now.

There was one for up for a few million. Ridiculous I thought until we toured around a potential gated community that the houses are up for 1.2 million.
I know who had the multimillion dollar house , but I want to know who is buying these million dollar homes.

Lol. Trying to imagine a 12,500 for squeezed into part of my front lawn.
I don't know the most expensive property here, but I do have several neighbors with homes greater than 10k, but we have a 6 acre minimum in this zone.

Out of curiosity, I went to Zillow to see what the most expensive house in my immediate area looked like. It is listed for $22,888,88, which is an odd price. It has 5 bedrooms, 8 baths, and is 12,500 sqft on 1.09 acre. That doesn't sound like a big piece of property, but in my area of typically small lots, it is huge. The house isn't exactly my taste, but I like it much better than the Herman house. I love the rugged wood beams in the ceilings and the extensive stonework. I can picture making pies on the two huge islands. Heck, I could put a bed in that window-filled dining area and live in just that and the kitchen quite happily. Last year's taxes were $124,767.00! I cannot imagine having a tax bill like that. The schools all rate a 10, which I did expect. Irvine public schools are known to be the best. I am trying to picture living in a 12,500 sqft home, but I can't. Their master bedroom wing must be the same size as my whole house. I wonder how many people are currently living in it? It is listed for $22,888,88, which is an odd price yup... as mentioned, lots of 8's is common pricing here which usually means its in a predominately asian neighbourhood or are courting asian buyers. this is ours... in the same neighbourhood drake is building his new home. |

In my zip code in WA the highest is a 4 bedroom, 5 bath, 5700 sq. ft. foreclosure at $1.7 million. It looks like a McMansion though, which holds no appeal for me. There are a few for hundreds of thousands less that are far more interesting. This is the one close to me that I really want. They’ve already dropped the price once. I wonder if they’d drop it another 300K for me  . |

In my small, rural town (population about 2K) this is the most expensive for sale, at the bargain price of $30 million: Riverbend Ranch
But, there are a lot of really expensive homes here. I counted about 30 that are currently for sale above one million in my zip code. |

I live in a very eclectic area—home prices are all over the map! The value of here vs the values of same size and amenities elsewhere are huge differences!
Ours is in the $250,000-$500,000 range, but within one block of us are homes that go upwards to $2 million in my immediate neighborhood. We have few newer homes, lots that look like big stone castles (we actually have a castle on the other side of our neighborhood) and a lot of Wright type homes.
LeBron James lives very close by and his is $9.5 million give or take—he bought 3 adjoining homes and combined it all to one then remodeled the existing home.
I also have immediate neighboring homes that are $100,000 range.
It’s a nice but strange, eclectic mix.

Definitely not the most expensive but certainly the biggest: 56 THOUSAND square feet if you include all the bulidings. Been on the market at least 4 or 5 years. Belongs to Michael Jordan and if you buy it he will throw in a ton of shoes in your size. Well, according to Zillow the most expensive house they have listed in my area code is actually a bargain. Only $5,995,000. That's very inexpensive for being the most expensive house in this area so I don't think Zillow is accurate. Anyway, this one sits on 1.47 acres, has 9000 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. It's waterfront with it's very own beach (on the Chesapeake Bay) a 50 foot pier, comes with a music room, a LIBRARY and an all season pool (that thing better be indoors) . I sincerely wish I could do a link. The address is 3366 Harness Creek Road, Annapolis, MD. 21403 It's been on the market for 167 days. If we go by what is the most expensive house that's not on the market my answer would be entirely different. Here in Annapolis there are lots of historic, very expensive houses. |

Michael Jordan's house looks like an event center you rent for your next business convention. I'm addicted to realtor.com and it always makes clear to me that all the money in the world can't buy taste. You would think it could but it never seems to be the case.

Comparing expensive always makes me laugh internally every time we bring friends to la jolla California to go to the beach and they say how beautiful the houses are and they must be over a million dollars and I say "try 25". Seriously, it's insane how expensive the houses are there!

as of the fall, there was a spec house for $40 million. most the apartments or small 2 bed/1500 sq ft houses in my town are at least 1 million.. most are over 2 million.

I checked just for my zip code. The most expensive place is a condo for $4,675,000. The maintenance fee is $1971/month!
