Mike Pence’s chief lawyer, Mark Paoletta has resigned. Typically an attorney who believes he's working for someone who is obeying the law, won't step down at what surely is the peak of his professional career.

Steve Schmidt...

“2/2. This is as sinister as it is dangerous. Kangaroo Court justice influenced by a political mob is not acceptable in the United States. The corruption of dem. norms and the rule of by this constitutionally faithless POTUS and his abettors threatens our Republic. Serious times”

Hmm, I have to wonder if something is ringing true in that new book. Perhaps you've heard of it? Things have been said that might Pence get caught, he supposedly knew about Flynn, before he 'lied' to him, and the Russians and did not report it, which apparently is so with the others too.... you know dtJR and Jared and whoever else. ******** WILL MUELLER CHARGE MIKE PENCE OR DONALD TRUMP JR. IN RUSSIA INVESTIGATION IN 2018?BY GREG PRICE ON 12/30/17 AT 6:40 AM
Amid Republican cries for his job, the main question surrounding Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election as the country turns to 2018 is: Who or what’s next? Based on reports, it’s possible the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and Vice President Mike Pence could be engulfed in Mueller’s investigation in the New Year. ********* The former Indiana governor recently gave a far different statement about whether he knew Flynn had lied to him about meetings with former Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. "What I can tell you is I knew that he lied to me," Pence told CBS News during a trip to Afghanistan earlier this month, "and I know the president made the right decision with regard to him."********** A lot more at link: www.newsweek.com/pence-trump-jr-mueller-charge-2018-765287

Trump may be backing off welfare reformHaley Britzky Jan 05, 2018 President Trump is beginning to back off the idea of taking on welfare programs this year, per a new Washington Post report. Apparently he's heard from White House advisers and even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that it wouldn't be possible without Democratic support. Why it matters: This could come as a disappointment to Republicans who want to reduce spending on programs like food stamps and housing, WaPo notes. But with other legislative items like immigration, infrastructure and government spending looming, advancing welfare reform could be difficult. House Speaker Paul Ryan has said reducing spending on welfare programs is a priority, but per the Post, some House Republicans have said "they would welcome the push — but that it is going nowhere." With immigration, the DACA deadline is on March 5, and Ryan has said that "he wants it done," the Post reports. With infrastructure, the Post reports that Trump is worried Republicans won't support an infrastructure plan. www.axios.com/trump-may-be-backing-off-welfare-reform-1515262311-f4e9471a-1df2-4352-ac23-9e14f5d9aafd.htmlHe's want all the dollars to go toward the wall!

Well I just started a thread on this:
Parks Service official who ignored environmental rules picked for senior agency post: report BY MAX GREENWOOD - 01/06/18 09:53 PM EST
Smith previously served as a special assistant to the director of the Park Service. While serving in that role, he pressured lower-level officials to approve a deal allowing Redskins owner Daniel Snyder cut down more than 130 trees between his house and the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

tiny hands is watching CNN....
“Jake Tapper of Fake News CNN just got destroyed in his interview with Stephen Miller of the Trump Administration. Watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!”
But that is not what happened. From Eric Fernandez....
“Jake Tapper to hobgoblin Stephen Miller: "I think I've wasted enough of my viewers' time."
There was a video with the tweet and Miller was spouting crap and Tapper just shut him down in mid sentence.

“I’ve had to put up with the Fake News from the first day I announced that I would be running for President. Now I have to put up with a Fake Book, written by a totally discredited author. Ronald Reagan had the same problem and handled it well. So will I!”
Prompted this response from Walter Shaub..
“Let us know when you start handling it well, stable genius.”
While this is not that much of a pithy response it does show how dumb trump is. The guy who thinks he is a great master of assigning nasty nicknames to his opponents managed to assign a doozy of a one to himself. Well done president donald “I’m a stable genius” trump.

Prompted this response from Rep Don Beyer....
“You should have seen what happened to President Obama. Even though he was born in Hawaii, a very stable genius kept trying to spread a racist lie that he was born in Africa. It was terrible”
😀
The ridiculous of where we find ourselves with a trump presidency is just breath taking.
Elections have consequences and to those 61M voters who didn’t vote and to those who voted for a third party that is no longer an option.

linkOn another thread there was a discussion about cutting safety programs to pay for the tax cuts. As always there are those who feel since these safety nets don’t benefit them personally they should be done away with and let some mythical individuals help other less fortunate. But here is the cost of the tax cuts that effects all of us... From Foreign Policy... “President Donald Trump has insisted that he will be tougher on terrorism than his predecessor, but a new report indicates that the White House may be planning to reduce funding for key U.S. counterterrorism programs and to eliminate one program altogether. The administration is seeking a total of $568 million in cuts from counterterrorism programs from 2017 levels, according to a report released Tuesday by the Democratic staff of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The report is based on a document sent from the Office of Management and Budget back to the Department of Homeland Security containing White House guidance on the proposed 2019 budget; the document was leaked to the Democratic staff of the homeland security committee in November.” Add that to the cuts to the State Department, The EPA, and entities like the Coast Guard. All of these departments and entities and others exist to protect all Americans living in this country and abroad. That is the real cost of those tax cuts that will not benefit all Americans and will not create the jobs that are needed. Bottom line, this country can’t afford these tax cuts.

Here is another consequence of the tax cuts that we can’t afford.
Chris Lu...
Trump's work on opioids so far: -Drug czar nominee withdrew. No new nominee -Proposed $400 million cut to agency that oversees substance abuse programs -Tried to cut Medicaid which provides addiction services -DOJ promotes jail instead of treatment for drug offenders
But hey let some mythical character that doesn’t anything about opioids pick up the slack.
By the way a lot of the proposed cuts are grants that are given to organizations that have the professional knowledge on how to handle whatever program that it is.
