When ever I'm asked what I want for Christmas, I usually just say something that I can be creative with and create limitless options from. Which basically answers the "why" part of anything I could think of that would qualify in that. So, what do you want for Christmas... and why?

I'm kind of stuck too.
right now I've got either a glass or wooden essential oil diffuser on the list- because I moonlight as a hippy and always have oils diffusing but don't want the ugly plastic diffuser in my living room.
I think it also like a large casserole dish, mine broke this year.

I wanted a tablet small enough to fit in my purse but larger than my phone for books and things. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8" refurbished and am very happy with it. Why? My mother loves to shop and I'm finding that I need something to read to keep me occupied while she is shopping so I won't browse and buy something I don't need or want. This was my gift to myself; we don't exchange which suits DH and I perfectly.

I'm happy w/jigsaw puzzles. I always like things to do, rather than things to have. Then again, a jigsaw puzzle is both.

I don’t know. That’s probably a good thing—but I seriously don’t know. If I can’t think of something I want, then I’m probably in a good spot.

I honestly don't want anything until we can afford the big guns. Not literally.

I prefer practical gifts. If someone feels they must give me something, I'd rather it be something generic I can use. I'd rather buy clothes and hobby items for myself. I don't care for surprises and neither does my husband so we pick out our own presents.

A display/curio cabinet. Probably not a vintage one, I've really been liking a bunch of contemporary medium sized accent cabinets with glass pane doors that I've been seeing on the Target website. They're the right size for what I need, and come in some great colors that will work in the room I'll be using it in.

About all I can really think of is a photo printer. I need luggage, and my mom said "that would make a great xmas list item", but I need it before xmas for our Hawaii trip. So I bought it today.
I'd always take fuzzy blankets, candles, lotions, soaps, socks, heck even candy. Things I can't have enough of. Or a cool coffee table type book. Or coffee, lol. There's always scrapbook adhesive too...

I really want a coverstitch, but we just bought an expensive house that we weren't planning on buying (at least not planning to buy till we sold our current house). So I think I am just going to be good with having a new house!

A mixer, because my current mixer is ridiculous and not powerful enough to make cookie dough with. A purse (I'm sure I won't get this) because I'm sick of my current one but the purse I picked out I can no longer find in stores. A wall art piece from Hobby Lobby, because it's pretty and makes me happy. Amazon gift card to buy Kindle books.

This year I asked my family to just donate to a charity near and dear to me. Im at a crossroads and I am looking to downsize all the junk in my life. Christmas has gotten to the point where either I have already purchased what I want, or the people who are buying aren't really buying for me, but just buying because they think they have to. I end up giving away or throwing away many things and I find that wasteful. I used to be such a big fan of christmas and shopping for others but can't seem to find the joy anymore. We will see how well this goes. I may make it a thing permanently if it works out okay.

Enough money to get caught up on rent.
For my cat to be able to eat without pain.
To be able to sleep without panicking about either of the above.

I want a little thing that 'says' luxury'. I don't care if it's some super soft, warm socks, or a beautiful, understated candle or some good quality hot chocolate...just something elegant or indulgent. Why? Because winter makes me feel like indulging in that way

I really, really, really want the offer we've made on a house to be accepted. Why? Our rent is ridiculous and the mortgage would be less than half what we're currently paying. Plus I want the chance to furnish and decorate a home that's ours not just on loan.

Plus I want the chance to furnish and decorate a home that's ours not just on loan. I hope this works out for you. I spent my life renting until a year ago July. Our rent was going up a lot every year and our mortgage, taxes and insurance is less than our rent was. Being a homeowner is the best. What I want can’t be purchased and I won’t write it out because I’d look like a more selfish and less caring person than I already appear. I’ll stick to counting my blessings and praying for the future.

I have an apartment full of my things, and a storage unit full of my things. I don't really need new things. Except clothes I guess. I lost a bunch of weight while I wasn't working and now that I am I don't have a lot of work clothes. On top of that, I seem to still be losing weight so clothes that I bought a year ago for work are getting a little loose. So maybe clothes? Right now I am rocking the capsule wardrobe thing-not by intent, but necessity.

I am going to try to be careful about how I write this in order to respond honestly to your "Why" question. This has always been the season of giving for many people. I know there is a large segment of the world that does not give now and an even larger segment that does not get now or ever. But the members of this message board do give, regularly and often and willingly, in their message posts of comfort, suggestions, tips, and numerous other ways of thinking of others and, most importantly, in being members of a community, a fellowship, a tribe (lookin' at you, AKathy people) of commonfolk. There are even very silent members, people we never hear from, who come here every day to receive. I feel the same way about my gift giving and my gift receiving. I am a member of a group of friends who give and receive, a family group that does the same, and of a larger, much greater community that is willing to honor this time of year with tangible evidence of caring for one another. Whether it is a new Cricut or set of silky sheets or an InstaPot or a diamond tiara (I'd buy that for you gar if I had won the lottery) or a tip on how to deal with a weird neighbor or what to use on an aging face, we all love to give and love to receive. And here's the real kicker: It is all the same. All of it. Deep down, a dh who buys a daughter a very expensive backpack in real life or a 10-page thread on this message board asking for prayers for an ill son or a five-response thread on how to clean stinky shoes. All.The.Same. And that is why I want antique pie plates for Christmas. And I know I'll get some! Happy Holidays to all!

Most things I want are art or baking things I wouldn't buy for myself. And the why is because they cost more than I would normally spend on myself for something frivolous.
