I love her, but I can't take seeing any more photos that seem like they're being Insta-staged. What got me? A photo today of one of the kids wearing mismatched socks. I get that could be considered cute but to me it seems a little contrived. Like don't try so hard to be quirky. Between that and the pics of her 'sleeping' with her new husband (if you're both sleeping who is taking the photo?) I'm done. And I'm a little sad about it.

Today made more sense to me than most. They were going to see Wonder, which is about a different little boy. Anna's fashion choice of mis-matching socks(which my DD has been doing for years) was showing her to be different and not caring.
I haven't unfollowed yet but I get what you are saying. AND the bed pictures...I have been married for 32 yrs and NO ONE, esp my kids, want to be reminded that I might or might not still be taking naps with my husband. Which was a completely different code word in our house.

i unfollowed after another sleeping picture awhile back. I'm not a prude or anything but it was more "who's taking the picture?" Type of logic. I also don't think my bedroom needs sharing in insta. My husband would die. I get that memory keeping is her job but some things really need to be private and I'm with you, she's trying too hard. I've unfollowed quite a few people because of this.w Hen it stops feeling authentic, you lose me as an audience.

I've taken "sleeping" pictures some mornings phone reached out as far as my arm can go and hitting the button with my eyes closed. But it's mainly to show how annoying my cat can be about being a bed hog and my hatred of mornings. I don't feel the need to plaster them on Social Media, but it can be a story to tell.
The socks yesterday just felt like real life to me, but I can def see it as staged. I used to do mismatched socks all the time so it was cool to me.

Mismatched socks is totally a thing (esp. with middle school girls and younger), and has been for a few years. You actually buy them mismatched. Makes laundry a lot easier!

Of all of Ali’s staged pictures, her daughter’s mismatched socks seemed the most real, even if you don’t consider they were going to see Wonder. When I was a child, I loved wearing mismatched socks. Hell, I’m 41 and I give zero shits about my socks matching. I mismatch them all the time, mostly around the house because I can’t find a matching pair, and I’ve taken a picture of my socks when they’ve made me laugh to include in PL.
The staged grocery store shots and sleeping pictures, very irritating...but this one, not so much.
I still follow Ali, roll my eyes at the pictures I feel are extra-staged, and scroll on.

Its the constant sales pitches that get me! I haven't read Cathy Zilsky in some time - I don't read Ali as constantly as I used to ... even Wilna has turned me off.

Mismatched socks, PJs at Target, slippers to school. (not for Ali's kid, she's pretty little, but for adults).
Do other countries do this too? Or is it mostly Americans who can't be bothered to....well....be bothered. Euro peas, Canadian peas, Asian peas, what say you?
I don't need us in suits/dresses and hats for the movie theater like we did in the 40s and 50s, but FFS, can we not put the slightest effort into looking like we care?

I unfollowed ali a while back and then recently started following her again. You could try just following Ali Edward design. That way you don't see the family stuff.

Or is it mostly Americans who can't be bothered to....well....be bothered. Euro peas, Canadian peas, Asian peas, what say you? Oh no, here in France (and in Western Europe), we do not go to the supermarket wearing pyjamas (nor do we have Target ). We don't go anywhere wearing pyjamas outside the home, as a matter of fact. I don't even take out the garbage wearing PJs. They're an item for inside the private sphere, not for fellow citizens or the neighbours in my building to see me in. It's not a prude thing either. It's just how we live social life over here. We don't dress up for the "occasion" either. We just get dressed. I saw all my neighbours wearing pyjamas once when we had to evacuate due to a gas leak late at night and it was a bit of a comic affair... Mismatched socks were a fashion trend not that long ago. I don't remember seeing many people wearing them but I do recall some younger men jazzing up their office wear with mismatched striped socks (some companies even sold pairs as mismatched but with matching colours). It has happend that I needed to hurry out and couldn't find two same socks on laundry day. If I'm wearing long pants and ankle boots high enough to ensure nobody sees they are mismatched, I don't mind grabbing two different ones. I'd rather go clean mismatched than dirty matching. Slippers to school? As in house slippers? Not unless you broke both ankles and are still in rehab. Heck, I'm almost certain the principal would call you in to ask what's going on. It's very unlikely to happen too: kids here mostly go to school on foot (and we can't drive before the age of 18) and I don't see house slippers being an efficient way to brave the weather or climb five flights of stairs to get to your class (ah, the joy of Philosophy class on Saturday mornings: five flights up at 7:30 #Idonotmissit).

NO! I do not wear mismatched socks, pajama's to the store, slippers anywhere at all. I think I proved myself, not in a good way, on Becky's dress fiasco I am a fashion snob. Even in the USA some of us love to be bothered when it comes to pretty clothes. I don't side eye anybody for wearing pajama's to the store. I shop late at night, in a college town. I know most of those kids are at the store to get some munchies. Even then I think the girls look adorable. They make their late night pajama's fashionable. I use to live on the rich side of my town and I did notice that most of the people in my area dressed sloppily. I live on a very poor side of my area now and most of the resident's put a lot of effort in their clothes and appearance.

The ONLY time I’ve worn PJs to Walmart was after I had Gallbladder surgery, because I was still too tender to wear jeans. And my PJs look basically like yoga pants, so I wasn’t walking around in obvious PJs. And I have a pair of house slippers under my desk at work that I sometimes slip into when my feet are hurting especially bad, but I never leave my office wearing them. Neither of which are acceptable in public on a normal day. I live in a college town, and see students all the time wearing both out in public.

I've taken pics like the sock one, and I've worn mixed up socks periodically myself forever. They're under pants- who knows? I like to play with the colors.
But the sleeping and other photos remind me the site is for a company, and that Ali is not as authentic as she used to be- she's a brand.
I've given up routine reading of most "famous" scrappers blogs. They are mostly about products and I can get that from corporate pages. There is one who's children are similar age to mine so I used to appreciate her humor and snark, plus style. Every time I check in she seems to be whining now. I kind of miss the old days, but now I've got you guys!

Took the trash out this morning and let the dog pee in the front yard wearing the following (and it’s 29 F) ETA: just reread my bad grammar, dog was naked i was wearing: -flannel pj top -green silk base layer bottoms -Zip up hooded housecoat -flip flops
It was 8:15a and i live on a busy street so lots of people driving by on their way to work. I’m a shameless American.

I don't go to WM unless I am wearing "real" clothing and I have at least foundation, blush and some sort of lip balm with some color. I can think of maybe 10 times total in my married life that I didn't go like the prev described. Now, there have been times where I had on yoga pants, workout stuff, etc. BUT never PJs.

The only time I can remember a WM trip in pj's was years ago when I had a puking toddler at 3 a.m. and I.was.exhausted. and really needed some medicine for her. If other people do it, it doesn't really bother me as it's usually good for a laugh sometimes.

I hope Tara whitney is paying Ali for all this publicity. The gushing is just too much. I read because I'm bored.
I would rather die than go to a Walmart. Naked. Dressed in formal wear. Or anything in between.

I'm American and I care about how I present myself when I leave the house. Occasionally I will wear yoga pants out--but typically that's because I'm going to yoga--but even if not, I definitely put effort into making sure I look presentable (make up, hair done, clean & matching outfit, coordinating accessories). I probably put more effort than some, but I think most Americans try to present themselves in a good way--even if they are wearing "comfy" clothing they tend to put the effort in to make it look good.
The mismatched socks is a trend, especially with little girls, and I think Ali's daughter does that on her own, not because Ali prompted her to. I haven't ever bought into it, but I know people do it and it's not because they don't care how they look, it's because they actually like that as a look.
There are definitely some Americans that don't care and look awful (there is a feed somewhere on the internet of Walmart shoppers and omg, that is the worst of the worst) but I don't think that represents most of America (thankfully). But then, I would never go to a Walmart!

Well, I'm Canadian, and I see youths out wearing pj bottoms all the time.
When I was in University in the 1990s half of the school showed up in Pjs to class - because our school had a tunnel system so they never had to go outside in the winter - it linked the dorms to all of the school buildings.
The one time I wore pjs out to the grocery store I was about 25 years old. It was the only time I actually ran into someone I knew at the grocery store. I never wore my pjs in public again.
I have worn my slippers to work by accident - luckily they were L.L. Bean flip flop slippers (the really soft and furry ones).

I unfollowed her on all social media weeks ago. I am seriously over her and her brand. I think all the screw ups with December Daily this year and absolutely no one holding her accountable for anything just clinched it for me. And the staged photos just got on my last nerve this year for some reason...it all seems so phony to me lately. I had to just cut the AE cord and move on.

And since I'm going against the grain with my opinions here, I'll say I'm OK with the occasional "sleeping in" photo. I'm in favor of keeping it real in my scrapbooks. And the pictures aren't that racy.
