stansgal, hello & welcome back. I was on the 2peas site, but never joined up with the pokey's until we migrated over here. I am a wife of 1, mom to 2. My ds15 just started an online private high school this year and dd12 is still being homeschooled. I live the upper mitten of Michigan. grammadee, wonderful pages, as usual. I'll try to get to the gallery sometime this week to leave you lots of love. kellyr21, your cards are gorgeous! msliz, your flowers are magnificent! I can't wait until I have nice big bushes and lots of flowers too. You showcased them perfectly as they are the stars of your pages. nylene, it's amazing how much can be lost in such a short time. I'm sure you'll have the kids back on track in no time. scrapincin, stay warm. I need to start the house clean up today. It got way out of hand last week. DD did not have strep. Hurray! Once I looked again, the white spot was only on one spot right outside the tonsil. The dr.'s exact phrase when looking at her throat was, "hmm, that's weird!" Yep, that's why were here. Her lymph node was swollen. The following day as I was getting laundry caught up so I could pack, I realized that the spot was a canker sore. She's also cutting a molar and that could account for the swollen lymph node or at least part of the swelling. We traveled to southern Illinois last Thursday for my mother's funeral. She was 93 and has had dementia so long that the kids did not know a time when she knew them. I have reassured them, especially dd, that she did. She was a strong believer and is in a better place. She was the oldest of 11 children and only 5 remain. My kids complained that usually when we travel in the winter we get a break in the cold but this time we did not (it seems they are usually around 32-40F in the winter). Well, it did get up in the 20s one day and we thought that was awesome. We arrived home last night, and today is suppose to be 30F here. It's sunny. And I'm thinking it'll be a good day. I'll probably wait until tomorrow which is suppose to be in the 40s before I try my van. Don has to have it towed to the service station if it doesn't start. I may have to invest in a car heater with the frigid temps. Don's been taking care of the chickens all break and the neighbor while we've been gone. Today will be the first day I've seen them in a while. Gotta go, DS15 wants something to eat. He's a bit worn out, or he'd fix it himself.

(((((HUGS))))) LisaDV, on the loss of your mother. Even when it is somewhat expected and her quality of life was not that positive, it is still a huge loss. I can see her in that "better place", looking down on you and your little family, and getting to know those kids whose growing up she has missed in this life. Again, (((((HUGS))))) Good to hear from you nylene. Hope that you have put that retraining behind you and you are successful in getting those students back up to speed. Hopefully when they get back into routine, the skills will come back quickly. Glad your holiday do over went well, kellyr21. Now no more getting sick!!! Looking forward to seeing your LO, scrapincin. Having the sketch usually helps me a lot. I used the one of the sketches from KikiPea's January sketch challenge for these two pages: Shoot score 84 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Shoot score 84 two by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Finished a couple of cards yesterday, and need to do a couple more today.

LisaDV, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I agree with grammadee that she is now watching you and your children grow together. Mom had Alzheimers for years before her death and never knew me. I would be so discouraged, but since her passing I can hardly remember those years but have so many wonderful memories of her younger years when we were living at home. Sending hugs and wishes that your children will have some memories of times she knew and loved them. Lots of Hugs. I'll be back tomorrow to chat.

lisadv, I want to add my sympathy on the loss of your mother, also, and glad that dd did not have strep. Kelly, your cards are amazing! nylene, I totally understand how miserable those mandatory education days can be. They were a big part of my decision to retire. scrapincin, so encouraged to hear you are feeling better and able to do some things you enjoy. I'm having difficulty getting my energy level up, too, and one tends to forget how important it is to feeling good. grammadee, we always enjoy your pages and seeing how much you all enjoy your grandchildren. My grandparents were like that and they are forever in my heart.....60 years later. We had almost a week of freezing temps, but not enough to kill anything and the sun is out now and we are enjoying our 60's again....so happy. I feel better when the sun is shinning! msliz, your pages of flowers make me very hopeful for a early and beautiful spring, too. I thought y'all might enjoy the page I did today. 4 of my grandsons went to a halloween party where they were supposed to dress 1950's. I dug out some pics of dh and I in the 1950's to share with them. Not sure how well you can see, but my collar was hand embroidered by my mom with little pink roses. She was an expert seamstress and loved to sew. We both liked the same style, and I was an only child at this age, so I had lots of clothes. I remember having a new dress to wear to church almost every week. Dh was an only child, too and his mom had given him a perm! Thankfully, soon after this, he got a little sister, so was spared more perms!

LisaDV So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Our mothers are so very special to us as we grow up and begin our lives as adults. You will miss her even tho the past years she suffered with dementia. I think about my mom just about every day. @elaynef your layout is wonderful and will give the grands quite a memory one day. I thought your idea of posting pics from the 50's for them to compare.

LisaDV- Oh dear friend... so sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you. Hugs!!!! Also, glad your dd is ok. She is a real trooper. @elaynef- What a fun idea to use your 50's pic with your dgks. nylene- You have been busy. So glad the weather is better where you are. After all these fires now with the rain we got slides. I am glad I don't live in those areas. Geez! scrapincin- What a dramatic game last night. We enjoyed it and now on to NFL playoffs. Are you still doing some cleaning? I have been doing some too. I am redecorating in my bedroom and got my pretty new white quilt set from JC Penny's. Now I gotta figure out the rest of the room. grammadee- Can I send you some of my pictures to scrap? LOL! I still don't have the mojo and it is great seeing you do. LOL! Maybe inspiration will hit me soon. Waving hello to you all and stay cozy.

Thank you all for your love. @elaynef, I love that you included photos of you and your dh on the page with the grands. It's a wonderful page. kellyr21, we're glad you don't live in those areas too. grammadee, I will be fave'ing that shoot page. We should be up to the low 40s today and 48 tomorrow which sounds lovely, except they expect rain. Don is in Grand Rapids and is suppose to stay through tomorrow. I just want him home before it starts freezing up. I'm so finished with winter already this year. We usually have snow on the ground through the whole winter, but it seems like we already have our normal snow quota for the season and it's just the beginning of January. I don't know what we'll do with more. I accomplished very little yesterday. Hoping I can muster some energy to do a bit more today. Stay toasty! ooh, that sounds like cinnamon toast and hot chocolate for breakfast this morning. My dd will love that.

Cinnamon toast and hot chocolate sounds like the perfect breakfast! I hope your dh gets home before freezing rain, LisaDV, but at those temps the ice shouldn't form until well after dark. Dd's hubby has foot surgery this week, so while she was shoveling yesterday she was already lamenting doing it for the rest of January and February. They are forecast to get dumped on by up to 50 cm (about 2 1/2 feet) of snow this weekend! My dh was complaining about clearing a couple of inches off the driveway here yesterday, and he has a tractor. After the snowfall yesterday, temps have dropped off again from just below freezing to really cold. Love your page, @elaynef. Thanks for sharing it with us. Love that you juxtaposed a photo of your dgs's in 50's garb with pix of you and grampa in REAL 50's getup. Those boys look pretty cool! I remember my brothers wearing short pants until they were about 12 or so. And I was dressed in frilly dresses. With 4 boys, my mom loved sewing my clothes: lots of ruffles and embroidery. I saved a doily she embroidered and crocheted the edging for from the old house this summer. Got it cleaned up when I got home. I need to get it photographed and the story scrapped. Glad you are safe from the mud slides, kellyr21. How is your family in California doing, nylene? How are you doing after all the extreme weather out east, msliz? Are you staying inside and scrapping away? No scrapping for me, today. I have an appointment at the Credit Union to get my savings switched over to RIF's (Retirement Income Funds), which has to be done by my 71st birthday early next month. Also have a vehicle appointment and need to do some errands for dh. While I am in town, hoping to stop in at M's and the LSS (both of which I have credit at to buy myself Christmas gifts), so that will be my crafty fix for the day! Waving hello to scrapincin, stansgal, and the rest of the Pokeys.

Just stopping in for a quick hello after getting caught up on all your news. LisaDV, I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs. Please be kind to yourself and don't push yourself too hard. kellyr21, if you decorate the same way you make cards, I can picture your new bedroom as beautiful and romantic. What a great project to start the new year with! @elaynef, your page is adorable. You were a cute kid! grammadee, I love seeing your layouts. You have a great way of getting that feeling of excitement on your pages. nylene, stay tough on those students of yours. I'm sure you'll have them back on track in no time. Waving hi to scrapincin, justjac, and stansgal! This week I've just been trying to keep up with house projects, and now I'm switching gears and getting ready for two more day crops, this Saturday and the next. What are everyone else's plans for the weekend?

LisaDV, I hope your DH gets home before the ice storms hit. I wish you could send some of that snow to us. The rain the past few days has melted the little bit of snow we had. I'm glad your little gal is doing well now and didn't have something more serious. I think if I lived in your climate I'd wrap up and never accomplish anything. You seem to get a lot done! @elaynef, I love that layout. Your dress looks so familiar. My mom used to embroider our collars and the tabs on pockets. Of course we had to wear dresses to school so I was fortunate that mom was so good at making pretty clothes. I used to do ribbon embroidery on my oldest DD's dresses, but then the other kids arrived and that stopped. LOL You and your husband are so cute and your grands' outfits are perfect. Glad you are feeling better. msliz, the reading went better today. I used one of the retraining ideas on a little gal this morning and she responded well and began reading with some speed and expression. I guess it's worth sitting through all the training. No plans here for the weekend. We might try to take in a movie. scrapincin, I loved your comment about your mother. I think of mine nearly every day too. So many things I do each day are things I learned at her knee. I talked a friend into getting a Sil. when her Cricut died and I have to thank you again for all your help. I'm now helping her with the same things that stumped me. You are so techno-savvy! grammadee, I just spent time enjoying all your layouts. You guys have so much fun together. It made me miss my "littlest" grands who are in CA. They are coming for Spring Break in April and I plan to enjoy every minute. Your snow, snow, snow doesn't sound fun to me. But I'm there for the Cinnamon toast and hot chocolate. kellyr21, I was just sick watching the news about the mudslides last night. I'm glad you are not in their paths. Angie hasn't said anything about slides near her where there were fires. They weren't as severe as around LA. I can't wait to see photos of your new bedroom design. I got a new quilt for our bed, but it's almost the same color and pattern as the old one. LOL Maybe I don't do change well. I'm glad you and Ron are feeling well again. Steve had his eye treatments again today. His vision was not good at all. We are hoping it's a temporary setback and not the beginning of the end. I can tell he's discouraged. I have been working on a couple of pages but haven't glued anything down. Still haven't downloaded my photo of my latest cards. Maybe this weekend I can get to that. I'm sending waves and hugs to justjac and stansgal and all other Pokeys!

nylene I spend a lot of time looking for answers for things that go wrong cuz I don't have a computer savy DSIL! I worked on my layout tonight and it is almost finished. Needs journaling and a title. Idid some handstitching on it and all! It's late so going to close and try to go to bed.

grammadee, I can commiserate with your dd. I started making a path through 2' of snow with a shovel to my chicken coop yesterday. I have to go the long way as the short way is a steep hill that I will not make in the winter as evidenced by my face plant the day before. So I made it about 100 feet or so before wearing out. I still have about 40 to go. I wish I could have finished as the area is all clear with the melt off and rain from yesterday. Enjoy the craft stores. msliz, enjoy your crops! Part of me wishes for one close to me. nylene, poor Steve. I hope he can rally his spirits. scrapincin, glad to see your in the midst of a page. You must be feeling better. Don has said Saturday is a home project day. So that's my weekend. I don't know what he has planned.

Hey Pokeys. I’ve been lurking again. LisaDV I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Sending hugs your way. nylene you are such a dedicated volunteer! @elaynef I love that page! Such a great idea. kellyr21 those cards are amazing. Have fun at your crop msliz. grammadee your pages are amazing. I was very spoiled yesterday. grammadee came into town and took DH and me out for supper and gave me an early birthday present: a beautiful scrappy kit. I haven’t been able to walk outside the last couple days due to the cold. -40 with the windchill today. The school buses probably won’t be running but since my students drive themselves for the most part I’ll probably have a few. Speaking of which, I should probably get out of bed and ready for work. Have a great day.

Happy Thursday, Ladies! Stay warm and safe! -40 windchill outside, but warm and toasty in here. Hope you had a safe trip to work, justjac. It was fun spending a little time with you & hubby yesterday. Oh, nylene, I hope your dh's eyesight is better this morning. Can't blame him for feeling down about it, but it's hard to know how to help someone who is in a funk. That shovelling does NOT sound fun, LisaDV. I think if I had that much snow and a DS15 that HE would be out there making a path ! Maybe that's why all my ds's moved so far away from home ! Can't wait to see your page, scrapincin! Glad you are scrapping again. Have fun packing for and attending your crops, msliz. Always fun to have a play date on the horizon. When I took my vehicle in yesterday I found out it will need a full day of service at some point in the next month or so. The downer is that although some of it is warranty work, it will cost some money, so my spending spree in my mind had to be curtailed for now. I had been looking at a new computer and laser printer to go with my Christmas gifts I picked up yesterday, but that will have to wait awhile. The up side is that I plan will be to pack up some scrappy tools and photos and then to get them to drop me off at the LSS for the day so I can have my own little crop while the shop works on my vehicle. I am busy making a mess. Tore apart my Christmas stash looking for a particular paper line with no success, so then chose some papers that I DID find and completed my last two Christmas pages. Will link them below. Now thinking that the whole corner cupboard needs to be revamped so I can find stuff easier the next time. Any bets that the first thing I will find will be that elusive little elf I had been seeking all morning? But not putting Christmas crafty cleanup on my agenda for the rest of today. I want to bring my new toys in from the vehicle, so have removed a bunch of OTHER stuff from surfaces in my craft room and relocated them to a tub in my bedroom to be "gone through later". Having my last cup of coffee for the morning, and then lunch. After that I will be bringing in my new Silhouette and Minc and at least physically setting them up. That is as far as I will get today I think, but tomorrow dh plans to be gone most of the morning, so I can focus on actually installing software, etc. Excited to play with my new toys, but a little apprehensive about the learning curve ahead... I finally posted a layout! Yeah!!!! It took a while but I got er done!!!! grammadee -read about your fun day yesterday! It was like Christmas all over for you! You are gonna love that Silhouette! nylene I felt bad when you said that Steve's eyes were bad yesterday. I do not think I would want to lose of any my senses and would be disgusted too. Poor guy. At least you are so understanding. justjac it wa so good to see you again. we miss you when you don't post frequently! @elaynef we are pretty used to the weather. My weather is about the same as 2lisadv. She gets it first! Tomorrow we will get rain, freezing rain and then snow. At least we don't get bored! LOL We always say if you don't like the weather here wait 5 minutes and it will change! kellyr21 that ball game was one of the best ball games ever! I think the team even surprised Sabin by the look on his face! Well here is my layout and I will be back later! chores by Cindy Blair, on Flickr

Now that you've got your scrapping mojo back, you've just got to keep it going. grammadee, I don't envy you this weekend; the techno toys just frustrate me. justjac, good to see you posting. Hope you had a good day at school. grammadee, great pages. DS15 made the path for the propane guy the day before, but he's a bit behind in school work. A good 1/2 a week from the power band on the braces and a good week from the holiday and travel for the funeral. He was planning to do it, I just started it first. He also had to go feed the chickens and wipe off the bee hive as I just can't trudge through that high snow. I guess I should get out the snow shoes. oh, scrapincin, I'm loving your layout. I love fall colors. I like how you separated the photos as well. Don came home early yesterday and changed the battery in my van. It's now running just fine. Hurray! He has a DDS appointment today, so he's going to take it. Waving hi to everyone and hoping you all have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Birthday. justjac! grammadee, good luck with your techy projects this weekend. Love your elf layout...you'll find the paper you were looking for now. lisadv, glad your van is fixed...bet you are, too! scrapincin, love that fall layout...I'm starting on my fall trip today and I'm looking forward to using my fall papers, too. kellyr, looking forward to seeing your newly decorated bedroom. I need a new bedspread for a guest room...the grands got silly putty on it and a blanket, too...had to throw them away. mzliz, I love the project you mentioned on another page....hope it's going well. did my first pocket page this morning. I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. I only did it because I bought a kit when they were half price at hobby lobby and it included page protectors. Just realized, I've got to do the other side, too! These pics are from thanksgiving in Alabama

How is Steve’s sight doing nylene? I’ve been thinking of him. LisaDV that’s great that your van is running. scrapincin I love the stitching on your layout. I don’t have the patience for hand stitching these days, but maybe I will break out my machine sometime soon. @elaynef thanks for the birthday greetings. It’s on Tuesday. We’re going out for supper with DH’s family. grammadee good luck with your technology! I find it frustrating sometimes. It’s another cold day at school. -38 without the windchill. No buses running but I have two students so I should probably start class. We’re removing wallpaper at DH’s former house this weekend. Our renter left and we’re going to sell it after a few renovations.

Love your page, scrapincin, the colours, the shapes, the patterns, but especially the stitching! Great PL page, @elaynef. I don't use those very often, but when I do, the backs of pages is always a challenge. One thing I do is put double sided pp into the slots to start out with, so then it is sometimes just a matter of slipping in a couple of photos and maybe a title and a journaling piece to finish the other side. Yours is more elaborate than anything I have ever done with one of those. Hope your drive home is safe, justjac. No one is going anywhere from here today. Did your snow melt off today, LisaDV. Hope you at least have the paths cleared. Glad you got your van running! Sometimes a battery will freeze in extremely cold weather if it is low on charge. Maybe that is what happened. I am definitely jealous of YOUR planned weekend, msliz! Have fun! I played around with my new toys, just getting them connected and the software downloaded. Also ordered some supplies for my Minc. The Cameo was being difficult so I left it alone and went old school to build my dgs's bd card. I was also trying to confirm some bookings for this summer's family vacation, so since I was waiting for a call back from there, I didn't call in for tech support. No worries. When I get this up and running, I know it will be loads of fun. Thanks for your offer of help, scrapincin. I will definitely let you know what Silhouette has to say. Here is the bd card. Wow, we have a very busy thread this month. It's great to see all your profiles popping up. Yesterday morning Steve came into the house and said he couldn't see. He felt like he had developed an infection after the treatment. I drove him back down to the office and found that it was a hemorrhage rather than an infection. It will take a while for the blood to reabsorb, but he can see a little improvement today. He won't be driving or reading for a while, but it should clear up. They think that's why the vision was lessened at his appt. Thank you all for your prayers and concern for him. scrapincin , I love, love, love that layout. What a fabulous design. I love the separation of the photos and the journaling. He's a great young man. Hand stitching!!!..I am so impressed. It's great to see you scrapping. grammadee , I love your layouts and that cute shaker card. I love the silhouette of the horse. You are going to love your Silhouette Cameo and if you have questions contact Cindy. She's so knowledgeable. grammadee , LisaDV , scrapincin , justjac , I don't know how you stand those temperatures and the icy roads. I am a real wimp in the cold. msliz , your crop tomorrow and next week sound like such fun. I really miss local crops. Back in the scrappy heyday there was a local crop every week. I hope you get a lot accomplished. @elaynef , your pocket page is really nice. I wish I could wrap my head around that idea for scrapping. My problem is the back side too. I love grammadee 's idea of double sided paper in the pockets so you don't have to have the perfect # of photos. Happy Birthday, justjac !I hope it's a great day and that the wallpaper removal doesn't ruin it! LisaDV , glad your van is going again. Obviously it doesn't like your cold temps either. Glad Steve's eyesight is gradually returning, nylene. It must be really frustrating for him. Left some love for your cute card in the Gallery. msliz, I hope you are having a blast at your crop. Thanks for the offer of all the help with my Silhouette, scrapincin. You have already helped me get the blade seated and working. I know I will never get out of this machine what you ladies get out of yours, but that is okay. I am gradually learning what I can do, and what materials work best. I have not patience, so a lot of what I learn is by finding out--the HARD way--what DOESN'T work . Happy Wall paper removal day, justjac! Dh and I are headed into town this afternoon. He will drop me off at WM so I can print some photos and just hang out there while he goes to his favorite farm supply and hardware stores. On my trip to town the other day, I didn't go to WM b/c I knew I would be seeing a lot of it this afternoon. And on Wednesday, I went to all MY favorite stores, so no need to go outside in this frigid weather very much. Later we will be going to our niece's dd's "Malanka" (Ukrainian New Years) supper and dance performance. Have a Super Saturday, everyone!

grammadee , I hope you get your Silhouette up and going. My shapes download automatically into my Library if I open the program from my browser. Sometimes I have to close the program and reopen, but it does it all by itself. I'm sure yours will too since you have the newest addition. I predict that a year from now you will be dong things you never thought you'd want to try with your Sil. It's addicting!! scrapincin , it was fun to see your layout on SB.com com today. Such a classy page. Here are a couple of pages I did of Lyssie's NOVA program in 6th grade. It has taken almost 2 years to get to it. The cut file layered over some 7 year old striped paper is designed by Nicole Nowosad at JustNick. I cut it out a few months ago just to see what it looked like and had such fun trying it over bright and wild papers. NOVA Launch by Nylene Budge, on Flickr NOVA Launch by Nylene Budge, on Flickr Steve is seeing better today. Not well enough to do very much, but can see improvement which is a real blessing.

@elyanef, cute pocket page! I like to use them for heavy photo events but think they are way more work to do. You did a really wonderful job. justjac , I can't believe they have school in -38. Try to stay warm. I always enjoyed removing wall paper with those steamer tools it always came right off. Good luck with the renovations. nylene , I've already been making comments that we should move south. I just don't like humid or overly hot areas either. I'm sorry about Steve's hemorrhage, but really glad he's improving. I hope his sight improves quickly. Your Nova pages and your card are so adorable. Is the turtle a stamp? grammadee , cute shaker card! I'm sure you will be fantastic with the silhouette in no time. msliz , I hope you enjoyed your crop over the weekend and that you can finish them through the week. If I remember correctly, you said you never completely finish them them there and they're always waiting for the finishing touches at home. Waving hi to scrapincin , kellyr21 , & stansgal . I created one page over the weekend and getting time to do that was a bit of a miracle. Off to get something done.

@elyanef, cute pocket page! I like to use them for heavy photo events but think they are way more work to do. You did a really wonderful job. Thank you! I am shocked that it is harder than I thought, too! I completed another one yesterday and would love some tips from y'all...like have you found a good ratio of photos to cards? I'm going to need to order some more pictures before I can do much more.
