It's the time of year when people are eager to tie a few loose ends and start fresh. In the scrappy world, I've read many threads and blog posts about plans for 2018. I wrote a list of things I wanted to do a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not making progress. I'm not motivated. I'd like to scrap, except I don't really want to scrap, if you know what I mean. Is anyone feeling the same? Am I the only rebel?

I do understand the "I like to scrap, except I don't really want to scrap" sentiment. I'm kind of in that situation right now. I know that my whole problem is that my scrap room is a DISASTER!!! With our kids (young 20-somethings) home for two weeks over Christmas break, and with all of the activities that took place in my scrap room (mainly present wrapping) and with my gotta-love-'em-but-man-are-they-messy kids, I just don't feel like scrappin'. This coming Friday and Saturday are my FIRST days off without something major planned so hopefully I'll wake up on Friday morning ready to organize/clean my area! I'm hoping that it will help that I'm expecting a big box of goodness from Ali Edwards on Thursday. I really don't want to dig in to my OLW stuff in a messy environment.

My dilemma is having no time. I'd love to spend a week locked up in my craft room but it seems like I'm having trouble finding an hour these days!

I just have a hard time giving myself permission to play until my work is done. And there's always so much that needs to be done.

I have about 6 weeks of stuff I have purchased here and there that needs to be organized. I've done about 1/2 of it so far. Then I will get down to business... until the puppy arrives... then I will just sit and stare at her for a few weeks.

It's the last few days of my summer break so I'm trying to make the most of my relaxing time. I do have some chores to do but will be spending most of the day in my craft room. Once I'm back to work on Monday I usually only get time to craft on Sundays.

After moving in October, I finally feel like I have enough organized to scrap, so I am scrapping like crazy. Kind of the opposite problem, I guess. LOL.

Raising my hand! 😊
I had planned to scrap at least one layout a week, but I’m getting new furniture for my scrap room so I’m now in the process of moving everything out for the new things.
I’m hoping to get it all put back together over the weekend.

I got some scrapping done at the beginning of the year but I've been working on my to-do list (NSBR) since then and no creative time has been happening. I did get in the orders (nearly 400 pics) I ordered in late Dec/Early Jan and sorted those into page protectors by layout and I just placed another order but that's as scrapbook-related as I've gotten.
Maybe tomorrow?

Draw. One should draw something every day. When I can't think of what to draw, I draw the alphabet or numbers. I usually only spend 5 or 10 minutes at it, but sometimes I can go an hour or two.

I am raising my hand.
I haven't worked on OLW at all yet. I haven't finished my Dec Daily. I opened up my DD today and realized I had cards I was supposed to mail when I mailed our Foreign Exchange Students Christmas cards and there they sat. *sigh*

I don't find that having specific goals helps me much, mojo wise, and sometimes can be an added pressure that shuts down the creative flow. When creative energy is with me, I live, breathe, eat and sleep scrapbooking. I see designs everywhere. Ideas explode. When I am away, I can hardly wait to get back into my scraproom. When I think of it as meeting a goal, ideas shrivel. I stare at my photos and supplies and feel panic. Or put something together that doesn't work on any level. This month, I have had the luxury of motivation, time, and opportunity all at once. I am riding the wave as long as it carries me. But I realize I could just as easily be in your shoes. Don't sweat it. Maybe take don's advice, and instead of trying to produce something maybe just try to spend a few minutes being creative each day. Who knows when Mojo will decide to come back to play.

My dilemma is having no time. I'd love to spend a week locked up in my craft room but it seems like I'm having trouble finding an hour these days! Ditto that. Between work and kid appointments, and the need to sleep a few hours a night, I can barely get any scrapping in.

I'm with you. I actually don't start my "new year" until February. The holidays are draining for me and I like a few weeks of quiet and nothingness to get sorted out for what I really want in the new year.
I usually attend a local crop in January, but am not going this year, which usually springs me into scrapbook mode.
I did finally get the studio cleaned up, and played with some distress oxide inks for a bit the other day. Watching some youtube videos inspired me a little.
One thing that's dragging me down is I didn't keep up with doing the December album I started, which isn't December daily, just my own thing. But I really don't feel like looking at Christmas stuff, so I think I'm just gonna tuck it away until next November when I'm back in the mood.
So just sort of waiting and giving myself permission seems to get me thru. Are you in a cold/winter area? that also doesn't help me stay motivated this time of year, have to really remember to take that vitamin D.

I just have a hard time giving myself permission to play until my work is done. And there's always so much that needs to be done. The work will *always* be there....don’t feel guilty for planning some play time and taking it! Life’s too short for all work and no play!

Ohhhhhh what an adorable puppy, congrats.
This has been me for the last ohhhh I don't know 5 years? LOL. I am quietly determined this year to have a very productive year with my own craft and I have made a few cards and layout which is more than I have done in the last few months so I am happy with that. My problem is making the time, it is not like I don't have an hour or two most evenings but I just get so tired after work and running the kids around that I just want to be at one with the couch by there bed time.

Draw. One should draw something every day. When I can't think of what to draw, I draw the alphabet or numbers. I usually only spend 5 or 10 minutes at it, but sometimes I can go an hour or two. Reading this it seems so obvious, but I often get stuck on the "Well I don't know what to draw/make..." step. I may take your advice. I have quite a few ideas, but the execution is sorely lacking. Things aren't turning out like I want them too, so I pack up. I'm also not worrying about it too much; I'm starting the process of dealing with Mum's house (it's up for sale now) and possessions and the least little thing is making me cry. Perhaps that's why everything looks so wrong, my eyes are always full of water! It didn't help that I had a bad cold last week; I don't handle colds/sneezing/coughing very well since the surgery for Crohn's 3 years ago. However, I am being very British, keeping calm, carrying on and drinking lots of tea, ahem! I've got cards to make, I've signed up to take part in the February challenge grammadee posted and I am over the moon with my Photoshop CC subscription that my husband bought me for my birthday. I should have made the switch sooner, it's so much easier than PaintShop Pro.

(((((HUGS))))) JaneB . Losing a loved one is tough enough without having to deal with the sale of her home and the redistribution of her stuff. Go easy on yourself, and let those tears flow. It never helps to be feeling bad about feeling bad. Glad you are joining in as a host for 28-4-28. and cupcakepeddler, it's hard to even make the MENTAL space to craft when you have work and kids to deal with. Good on you for getting back into creating cards and pages!

My DD "cleaned" my scrap room for me 2 years ago and threw everything into giant moving boxes. It is a nightmare. It's going to be a weekend project after I get my financial aid done for the kids' college. But I just want to scrap. If it were organized, I know I'd do more!

deekaye Oh, good! Did you get to organize and clean your area after all? Did you make progress on your OLW album? streetscrapper LavenderLayoutLady I understanding having no time to scrap. It does help to make an appointment with yourself once a week. msliz Yes! I feel so guilty if things aren't done before I sit down at my desk for a layout. redshoes you're right, though! 950nancy Your puppy is adorable! Is your craftroom still clean? anniefb I hope your summer break was a great one. It's almost making me jealous. thracian Good for you! You deserve it after organizing. quinmm14 Did you finish moving your stuff? linda At least you're making some progress! Which is more than I can say, haha! don I draw sometimes, but I haven't lately. Thanks. mom Is this phase over for you? I hope so. I'm still stuck in the middle of it. grammadee You're right. Thank you for reminding me that I'm adding pressure on myself. scrapcat My holidays were more exhausting and wonderful than usual; so that may be why I just need to take it ease. My Christmas album isn't finished either if it helps you feel better. I live in France where it's very cold lately. I'll have to remember to take some vitamin D. cupcakepeddler You're making progress, that's good in my book! It is hard to find time to scrap when I work full time and I don't have children. I used to make an appointment with myself on Sunday afternoon, even for an hour. That's how I managed to finish my 2015 PL album! JaneB I'm sorry. I hope you're feeling a bit better. ((hugs)) As grammadee said, go easy on yourself. Really Red You don't have to answer, of course--but was it supposed to be a surprise? I don't understand why she moved your things without your knowing. It's good that you feel the need to scrap more than organize, though. I wish I were like you!
