riversong1963 I love your layout - I really like the mix of colours with the grey background. Thank you!

I rarely buy new releases. I prefer to buy older, clearanced items that I know I will use. I have two definite lines I want to get, but that's all. I started scrapping before the big push in the '00s. I used to do lots of sticker sneeze and plain backgrounds - think CM and even before. Then I started hanging out w/a new friend who scrapped. We would walk into our LSS and she'd say "Oh, I love Dear Lizzy" "I need to find that new October Afternoon".... I had no idea what she was talking about. I would buy the clearance stuff at Michael's and call it good. But I started to see the difference in some of the lines, changed my style to one that was less "throw lots of stickers at the page" and found my groove. All these years later, I still love a bargain, rarely have to have the latest and greatest and buy more on style than "newness". I miss the Steals sites because I never minded having collections 1-2 years late. I still like what I like. I think the scrap companies are digging their own graves by making so much product that is so same-y. It forces a lot of us to get creative, shop our stash (which is a good thing anyway), make our own background papers w/paints, inks, mixed media, stamps, etc. I just know, though, that scrap companies will interpret this move away from their offerings as "the market is dead" instead of "we killed the market".

I tend to buy new products that fit in with my stash, so I am always "shopping my stash" to find pieces that work with the new stuff. And I store my supplies by theme, so am always riffling through--for example--my Winter stash this time of year. Have been using some lines and papers I bought for making Christmas cards, but also some older papers I have in that bin. If you are looking for ways to shop your stash, the 28-4-28 On Line Crop should be right up your ally!

riversong1963,
Love your layout! I like the way you layered those papers, and the color combos are perfect.

Peas,
Add me to the underwhelmed list. So many of the paper collections just seem like a repeat of last year, or some of them are just a bit too cute. I miss the old days of My Mind's Eye, Fancy Pants, Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, and so many others. Right now I may pick up a few pieces of Maggie Holmes's collection, but my stash suddenly looks better than ever.
We are moving in the near future, and I have started packing, so I am excited to see what stash goodies I have that have been forgotten.

Add me to the older clearance lines list too. I did feel a bit guilty this year that I wasn't feeling the lines. I don't feel so alone now reading all the posts. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I didn't get all the terms either when I started scrapping. I was one of the girls who joined 2Peas back in the AOL days. Still then I didn't know what the heck half of the girls were talking about, lol. I always did my own thing. I do agree this years offerings were the same or were five years ago from a different designer. I don't know if this is American Craft's doing some rebranding of old content they have for licensing. It is starting to remind me of the gaming industry. Oh look Dark Souls Remastered. Oh yeah! (Sarcastic). I don't mind if the scrap companies feel like we are killing the market. They have themselves to blame. Oversharing on social media and turning off their customer base. Give us the same old products for when we open up our albums from 2008 to this year we can't remember when we actually made the album, except the pictures of our loved ones getting older will be the clue. Maybe this will be the shakeup I have been hoping for of new designers with new visions will start dominating the market.
