I'll be going in my hometown with some friends from church. Last year DH, DD and I were at the wonderful Women's March in SF. I haven't heard much from anyone about attending this year's events. Wondering if any of you are going. Haven't figured out my sign message yet. Ideas you care to share?

I wish I were!
My mom had heart surgery yesterday, so I am on the West Coast helping her this week.
Marching in DC last year was a life-changing event and I would do it again given the chance.

So nice you could go to help your mom, Elaine. I hope she has a speedy and full recovery! Wondering about the friends you marched with last year. Are they planning to go this year? It's been so quiet... I'm really expecting the turnout to be really low...

I marched with my dh and his best friend from college last year - since I’m here in LA, he can’t leave the kids (they were in Respite Care last year). His friend is still going to march - yay! My Mom marched here in Los Angeles in that surprising mega-turnout last year, but she, of course, isn’t making it this year either. She is reading my copy of Fire and Fury right now though. I’m afraid that it will be a smaller turnout too - I think there is a sense of burnout -there seems to be something new to be justifiably outraged by every few days.

Me! Marched in DC last year (wearing elaine 's hat!) We have since moved and are marching in TX. I'm thankful it will be smaller location for us as my 11 y.o. DD is super pumped about going.

My daughter and I are. She was so upset she wasn't able to last year. We're going to the one in our town and there will be voter registration booths, interpreters and signers. The focus seems to be on getting voters active and empowered.

Me in downtown Los Angeles. elaine you are welcome to join me if your mom can spare you for a few hours. I'm taking the subway with a friend and it stops right where the march starts.

Is anyone daring to wear their pussy hat this time around? Seems like there has been a backlash against them and they are no longer seen as a unifying symbol.

I keep having an internal debate. He has worn me down with letter writing etc.
The weather has warmed up a bit, so that is good for the marchers.

I want to, but can’t find anyone to go with me. Don't let that stop you. I went to DC by myself and everyone was super friendly and I never felt out of place being there by myself. I chatted up people near me and people around me chatted me up. It was interesting to find out what motivated people to march.

I'm not this year. I had an incredible time last year in SF. But I'm 32 weeks pregnant and dh is traveling for work and I have 3 other kids. So it just isn't going to happen tomorrow! Thank you to all of you that will be out tomorrow!!

Thank you to all of you that will be out tomorrow!! Wasn't SF amazing? I was so glad to be there in that crowd of over 100k, feeling very united. Rain didn't send people running home either. And I believe a ton of good came out of the marches, including a lot more of us running for office and getting politically involved in many ways. With the train wreck this past year has been, I would hope that even MORE folks would turn out tomorrow. We CAN'T AFFORD TO BE COMPLACENT, we must RESIST! This list of things to resist is so very long - institutionalized racism, overt racism, all the phobias (Trans, Homo, Islamo etc. etc.), misogyny, patriarchy....

We went to DC last year, and like others have expressed, it was an amazing experience. I cannot go to a march this year and am feeling a bit of a RESIST failure because of it. DD has a broken leg and thus has limited mobility, and DH is out of town for job training. I can't leave DD alone that long as she is not able to do much for herself, so that means no marching for me this year.
I have made tons of phone calls to my elected officials, sent lots of letters and emails by resistbot, and donated to causes that are important to me over this past year, so I logically know that missing the march tomorrow isn't really a big deal, but dang, I still wanna be a part of it! I guess there's always hoping that the march in 2019 will be celebrating the Blue Wave of 2018!!

My daughter, husband, and I were in Cincinnati last year. It was really quiet leading up to the march and I didn't think many people would be there. It turned out to have thousands. I hope the same thing happens again this year. I wouldn't expect to hear much about it as most people in this area are Trump supporters. My culdesac had a stupid fight about the march after I posted pictures from downtown last year. Fun times. We're not able to be there this year. I feel like I'm not representing, and feeling guilty about it.

Pea marchers, I salute you and will be waving from up in the clouds. As luck and dire chance would have it, today is our last day in the USA (we arrived 28th November) and we fly at 11am Pacific time tomorrow. I posted a while back that if I was welcome I would have marched and I was roundly welcomed.
I hope I catch some coverage on TV (first flight on JAL so I don't know their entertainment system) and I shall be vibing you all.

Is anyone daring to wear their pussy hat this time around? Seems like there has been a backlash against them and they are no longer seen as a unifying symbol. I've been wondering about this too... From what I’ve read, the March organisers in each city have different suggestions. Some are asking marchers not to wear them (Florida), while others (Detroit, Lansing) are leaving it to individuals to decide if they will still wear them due to complaints about inclusion from some woc and trans women.
