I am marching in Walnut Creek, California. I am marching with a group honoring a woman who recently died from cancer. I believe most of them are wearing pussy hats although I will not be.

We'll be marching in Austin. We were going to march in Waco, but I think we are going to switch to Austin. We live in the middle so it isn't that big of a change.

I feel like I should put two little peas in the corner of my poster as a secret signal to other marchers in NYC.

I was not able to make it work this morning after all - too many kid activities! BUT I just saw a little bit of live streaming from downtown Houston and was very heartened to see so many there. Trying to ignore the hateful comments on the live stream, though.

I am so disappointed. I was planning on meeting my DD20 in Milwaukee for the march. I quickly made 3 2-sided signs. I woke up early with a stomach ache/twinge and let's say I was not comfortable being away from the bathroom. I know I will even madder if it passes and I could've/should've gone. Drat!
Speaking of signs, share pictures of yours. I will try to in a bit.

I was peeking at some live coverage in D.C. and there are a lot of angry people on the internet spewing hate from the safety of their keyboards.

Some people just don't like progress. I for sure don't want to go back to the 1950s.

I want to, but can’t find anyone to go with me. Aww...next time you need to come up here to ATX and march with me (although I was a slacker and didn’t march today).

I wanted to march, but I'm having a foot/ankle issue. I drove by to beep and show support, and now feel horribly guilty I didn't try to limp along as there were a few gals using walkers and scooters. They had a good turnout for the smallish Trumpy city. The organizer said she would be happy to have 25 show up BUT around 75 showed! eta - local news said there were nearly 100 marchers! SaveSave

It was a great day in Austin. There were actually three rallies that kind of all rolled up together. The impeachment rally started first at City Hall and then we marched with the Women's March from there to the Capitol. I was worried about the turnout because last year's was so huge, but it was solid. It had a really good vibe, same as last year. It was very diverse. Honestly, my little family felt like we really needed it. It can feel extra daunting living in Texas.

What exactly is the purpose of this march? I don’t see any real benefit of doing this. I want someone tell me what I can do to help. Gathering in a large group seems pointless to me.

No I didn’t march. No need to march for rights I already have.
I’m more concerned with the women tortured and killed for protesting oppression in Iran. Their families are being called to pick up their dead daughters.
Also I don’t blindly follow anti-semites, terrorists and criminals but if y’all what march because we have to pay taxes on tampons, have at it.

What exactly is the purpose of this march? I don’t see any real benefit of doing this. I want someone tell me what I can do to help. Gathering in a large group seems pointless to me. Here's the official info for the marches, but each person might have causes close to their heart. The Women's March on Washington convened a broad and diverse group of leaders to produce an intersectional platform known as the Unity Principles. Representing a new understanding of the connected nature of our struggles and a vision of our collective liberation, the Unity Principles continue to be a guiding light for our movement. We believe that Women’s Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Women’s Rights. We must create a society in which women - including Black women, Native women, poor women, immigrant women, disabled women, Muslim women, lesbian queer and trans women - are free and able to care for and nurture their families, however they are formed, in safe and healthy environments free from structural impediments. ENDING VIOLENCE Women deserve to live full and healthy lives, free of all forms of violence against our bodies. We believe in accountability and justice in cases of police brutality and ending racial profiling and targeting of communities of color. It is our moral imperative to dismantle the gender and racial inequities within the criminal justice system. REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS We believe in Reproductive Freedom. We do not accept any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on our ability to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education. This means open access to safe, legal, affordable abortion and birth control for all people, regardless of income, location or education. LGBTQIA RIGHTS We firmly declare that LGBTQIA Rights are Human Rights and that it is our obligation to uplift, expand and protect the rights of our gay, lesbian, bi, queer, trans or gender non-conforming brothers, sisters and siblings. We must have the power to control our bodies and be free from gender norms, expectations and stereotypes. WORKER’S RIGHTS We believe in an economy powered by transparency, accountability, security and equity. All women should be paid equitably, with access to affordable childcare, sick days, healthcare, paid family leave, and healthy work environments. All workers – including domestic and farm workers, undocumented and migrant workers - must have the right to organize and fight for a living minimum wage. CIVIL RIGHTS We believe Civil Rights are our birthright, including voting rights, freedom to worship without fear of intimidation or harassment, freedom of speech, and protections for all citizens regardless of race, gender, age or disability. We believe it is time for an all-inclusive Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. DISABILITY RIGHTS We believe that all women’s issues are issues faced by women with disabilities and Deaf women. As mothers, sisters, daughters, and contributing members of this great nation, we seek to break barriers to access, inclusion, independence, and the full enjoyment of citizenship at home and around the world. We strive to be fully included in and contribute to all aspects of American life, economy, and culture. IMMIGRANT RIGHTS Rooted in the promise of America’s call for huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we believe in immigrant and refugee rights regardless of status or country of origin. We believe migration is a human right and that no human being is illegal. ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE We believe that every person and every community in our nation has the right to clean water, clean air, and access to and enjoyment of public lands. We believe that our environment and our climate must be protected, and that our land and natural resources cannot be exploited for corporate gain or greed - especially at the risk of public safety and health. women's marchSaveSave

PROUD!!One year ago, she marched. This year, she's a councilwomanBy Emanuella Grinberg, CNN Updated 8:24 AM ET, Fri January 19, 2018Atlanta (CNN)For years, Stephe Koontz considered running for city council in Doraville, Georgia. But she let others talk her out of it, she said. The Atlanta suburb had opened its doors to immigrants in recent years, but it wasn't yet ready for a transgender woman in public office, she told herself. After all, she was still in Georgia, where LGBTQ rights were tenuous at best. Then an unlikely Republican candidate won the 2016 US presidential election, and everything changed, she said. On January 21, 2017, she found the courage to pursue her dream at the Atlanta Women's March, one of many protests held the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration. "Seeing all those progressive people gathered in solidarity gave me hope that maybe being trans wouldn't be the huge problem running for office I had always feared it would be." Now she's a member of the Doraville City Council, and she's encouraging others to follow her example. On Saturday, she's returning to the venue that galvanized her into action, this time as a speaker. More at link: www.cnn.com/2018/01/19/us/womens-march-power-to-the-polls/index.html

My small community had a well attended march this morning and in true Canadian fashion, the last marcher had a sign on her back that apologized for the traffic disruptions.

I did (in Seattle)! I went last year at ~25 weeks pregnant, and went back this year with my husband and 8 month old daughter. Her sign read 'I can't walk, but I can march', and mine was 'I walk for her' (with arrows and a BLM logo) on one side/ the other side was Bob Marley lyrics (get up, stand up; stand up for your rights; get up, stand up; don't give up the fight). We had an awesome time!
