Hey everyone! Thanks again for the support you all give to me ... I love our little tribe I'm thinking of making spaghetti with a meat sauce tonight ... something easy peasy because I'm feeling super lazy today Dh bought a bunch of whole wheat spaghetti noodles but I think I will mix some white ones in with them because the dd's will probably complain about them being "different" ... you would think I am raising toddlers rather than teens The meme for today relates to me especially in the fact that I am quite picky when it comes to certain food ... especially brands ... things like peanut butter, tea, ketchup, etc. Anyone else like that? What's on your menu tonight?

That meme is spot on!!! ( besides my dog is actually the pickiest eater in the house -even when the kids are home )
Dinner is going to have to be sausage and peppers because of expiration dates. It ‘expures’ tomorrow. But I’m going to freeze half of the cooked sausage. ( I sure use my food saver a lot more with 1 eating than I did with 4 )
Can I make ‘pulled’ pork out of a pork loin? I got one on sale for 3$ but I don’t have anyone here to eat up a whole grilled loin, so I figure if I can do pulled pork I can freeze half. What do you all think? I’d use the instant pot. The pork loin has to be made by Tuesday, so I figured I could prep it today..

I have decided that I need to stop eating like a college student, so I am going to try to start eating better. How I plan on doing that, I do not yet know. At some point today, I need to go to Publix. I have enough laying around that I am good but I am totally out of coffee and that can't wait. In fact, the idea of not having coffee is giving me the fits, so even though I am still in my comfy place with fuzzy jammy pants on to Publix I will go. Dinner? Something I get at Publix. Something healthy, because you know...it is time to start eating like a grownup again.

My mom celebrated her birthday today, so I didn't have to cook! Baked an Apple pie for dessert, but I much prefer baking to cooking.

hop2 I have made pulled pork with a pork loin in the Instant Pot. It is very lean and didn’t pull especially easy but it was very good. Dh and and I are going to BIL and SILs house for a siblings dinner. Dh is currently making a salad as our contribution. I’m told there will be spaghetti with some long dead aunt’s sauce recipe which I can only assume includes some kind of meat and/or meatballs. We went out for breakfast which I followed with a syrup laden iced coffee and now I’m not feeling great. Three weeks of healthy eating has my body angry for putting crap into it today. I also ate cake and a scoop of ice cream yesterday as a reward for not screaming in the ex’s face and telling him what a horrible, obnoxious, rude, stupid, idiotic jerk he is. OMG. It was a very uncomfortable few hours and I won’t be inviting him to my home again. Ever. Back to my healthy eating tomorrow 😊

I'm making dirty rice with smoked sausage. Mind you, it isn't real dirty rice because that has chicken livers (?) in it and I don't roll that way!

Does anyone know how to make tomato rice? I had it at a Persian restaurant in town and it was amazing. I am not thinking clearly here and don't know what to google if I wanted to make it. I don't want to make a huge quantity of it. I wonder if I just use stewing tomatoes and rice? That seems too easy, doesn't it?

A friend brought us a pot of Tom Kha Gai Soup, and a red curry chicken soup. Can you say YUMMMMM!!!!!! DH and I will be thoroughly enjoying that for dinner tonight The kids, will probably use the leftover meatballs and make cheesy meatball subs.

KelleeM, I'm just glad you survived that family event. Yuck! I made beef and barley soup in the IP, so hopefully that's somthing DH wants this evening. For the third day in a row, I'm not feeling too well. I have a sludgy gall bladder and I can go months without any problems, then suddenly I'll have discomfort for several days. I think that's where I am now. No pain, just low grade discomfort. By the time I get around to making a doctor's appointment, I'm usually feeling fine again. This time I should probably follow through with the appointment.

No cooking here tonight. Yesterday was granddaughter's birthday and her bff's is Tuesday so we're all going to Yamato's Japanese Steakhouse to help them celebrate. Oh boy... warm sake!

leannec, I also love our dinner tribe. This is home. miominmio, cooking is fine, but baking is therapy. I love to bake. Happy Birthday to your mom. anxiousmom, A grown up chicken fettucini alfredo w/mushrooms sounds so good doesn't it? You want it. Ok, I want it, but I can't eat it. If you don't mind, I'll live vicariously through you. Don't forget the Banana Split Blue Bell for dessert. KelleeM, You were just reminded why he's your ex. He sounds charming. Oh wait, no he doesn't. EW. Tonight I'm making chicken parm w/my semi-homemade tomato sauce and pasta and salad. Dh will probably make peas, too.

We're having the sausage-vegetable-pasta soup I made yesterday. I should make salads to go with it, but most likely won't happen.

KelleeM, i totally get it. My ex sucks the damn life right out of me. I'm back!!! I had a great weekend of scrapbooking. I ate so much crap I probably gained five pounds. DH says he's making meatloaf for dinner. Now I have to unpack all my stuff. I got 24 layouts done. I was productive!

My week got a little better as it went on, after having a super crappy Monday. FB going to college is stressful on us both... DD is sick, but nothing serious, just the worst cold imaginable. Strep was negative and no true flu symptoms. Hoping it stays that way.
Well, we had French toast, bacon and eggs for dinner last night, so now we have another craving for bacon. So tonight, we’re having BLTs. Not sure what to go with, maybe hash browns or Mac & Cheese ? Why didn’t I figure that out at the store when I was just there getting the tomatoes?!

Grady takes forever to find the perfect spot to poop!
Craving pan seared pork chops with mushroom gravy. Roasting cauliflower, brussels, and butternut squash and serving with Israeli cous cous. I could eat buckets of that couscous. Just a bit of butter and salt.

Hello Fresh is available in my area now. I just contacted them. I don't think the family will like what they feature. I do want to try this out so I might wait until I am by myself for 6 weeks in Feb/March. Then I can figure out if I like the food or not. I will give it a shot though. I want them to be successful!

I went a bit South East Asian / Sub Continental for dinner - Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese & Indian Pork skewers with garam masala, chilli and lemongrass salad with Vietnamese dressing roti with home made peanut dipping sauce The skewers were a new recipe from the cookbook from my favorite restaurant. They sound quite plain but they are very flavoursome.

This time I should probably follow through with the appointment. Give your doctor's office a call and ask if they can at least schedule you for an ultrasound NOW, while you're feeling ill. If you go for an image when you feel better, it won't really show what's going on. Or do they already know you have a sludgy GB? (If it's sludgy, I'm a little surprised you still have it; it's not working correctly, so I was under the impression they usually take it out!) I hope you feel better soon, though! I have french onion soup in the crock pot, plus I will make some ham sandwiches. That reminds me that I may want to pop up to Target before dinner... I have a couple of bowls just for french onion soup but they aren't my favorite for several reasons. I think Target has some ramekins I can use instead.

Our Mexican neighbors sent their grandkids over with a plate of carnitas, a stack of tortillas and a bowl of the best green salsa I have ever had. I could've eaten with a spoon! Spicy, but oh so good.

leannec .... LOL at your meme!!!! It never ceases to amaze DH and I how LONG our babies take to find the PERFECT spot to poop!!! Also, does anyone else's doggies ferociously KICK dirt/leaves over their pee and/or poo when they're done? It cracks us up! To answer your question, I am very picky about SOME food brands! Other things, I'll buy whatever's on sale/ generic store brands. I wonder if your dds will notice the wheat pasta I used to make it, but haven't in a while. On a related note, I've made lasagne with thinly sliced zucchini instead of noodles, and although it was yummy----DH nicely said "um, can you please just use regular noodles next time?" I have to admit, I missed the noodles, too. KelleeM .....(( hugs )) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as dinner....I'm trying to decide whether to invite myself over to grammanisi 's or PolarGreen12 's !!!!!

Then of course we can finish with more booze. 🍽🍸🍰🥃🍷

I reheated the leftover spaghetti and had that for dinner. It was easy and I wasn't really in the mood to eat. I was hungry enough, but I didn't feel like eating. Today feels like one of those days you'd like to avoid. Know what I mean?

tuesdaysgone , unfortunately, the only way to stop gall bladder pain is to have that thing removed. It's super routine, usually outpatient surgery, laparoscopic and only takes 45 minutes barring any complications. It's a very quick recovery, too. W/all the surgery I've had trust me when I tell you that gall bladder removal was one of the easiest. Get that thing out and you'll feel much better overall. You don't want it to become an emergency, because you'll feel more than awful. I'm sorry you're dealing w/this, especially during the school year. Don't be afraid to take time off for this. Again, it's a quick recovery.

KelleeM ex’s suck. That’s why they’re exes. Made roast in the crockpot with green beans and potatoes. Basement flooded halfway from the furnace humidifier. Dh still thinks he’s saving the carpet. Just have to let him go through the motions. Kitchen contractor hasn’t shown up the past 2 days. Not thrilled. Payton is still missing. They are now classifying her as a runaway and have stopped looking for her. I would be crazy if I were her parents. Delta Dawn I bet you will like Blue Apron. Kroger grocery chain is advertising a version that you get in the store. I typically don’t shop there but I want to stop in and see what they’re about.

I know I want to try it so I will. I hope I do like it. I would like something to be easy for a change. DS is moving out on the 15th so I will try it once he is gone.
