Aw. This makes me sad. It's true, though. I know nothing about pro boards - how would people find this place? 

 That's so beautiful, it's moved me to tears.

It seems this has brought quite a few lurkers out of the woodwork so we need them to stay as active members which will be some new blood in effect. I do hope this thing flies after the initial excitement has died down....I don't want any more panicked moments like yesterday!!

I think it'll last. I might get slow sometimes, but it'll be here because there will always be someone (like me, who has been part of the Peas community since 2004, under various names) who needs to reach out. There will always be questions to be asked. Always a need for others' opinions. Always a need for a sense of community.

I hope it last, and personally I'd be fine without some of the Yubon, Laurens and rainbowscrappers.
Drama is fine, but I can do without some of the nastiness.

I was a long time lurker but only posted one time on the old board. Probably won't add much controversy but I am Happy to be here.

The promise of a good train wreck is what brings me back day after day.

I think the dramatic peas belong here as much as us normal. You have to have Yin with Yang.
And besides, if we don't have the mutters here, who will start the train wrecks?

I agree with this. I hope everything transfers here not just the rainbows and lollipops.

I don't think it will. The problem is that there won't be new posters coming in because they are drawn to the general topic of the site and then get sucked into NSBR. While I think the "old guard" will still come hang here, as people's lives get busy, they'll fall away for awhile, but no new people will be there to keep the board moving quickly. When the board slows down, people come less, and it becomes a downward spiral.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think boards can only last in one of two situations:
1. It is a small, tight enough group that people are really engaged and feel truly like this is family. I think the board is too large, too anonymous, and too many people that don't get along for that.
2. It is a larger community that has a constant source of new and interesting people flowing in. We don't have that source of new people.

Again, hope I'm wrong. I give it 6 - 18 months, I think.
