Go Texas!! Texas governor warns of Dems' strong early votingBY LUIS SANCHEZ - 02/26/18 09:03 PM EST Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) reportedly says in a Monday fundraising email that Democrats’ early voting figures in the state should “shock every conservative to their core.” Going against the general norm in Texas, more Democrats in Texas have turned out to vote in 2018 primaries so far than Republicans. Abbott sent an email to supporters asking for donations and warning that Democratic enthusiasm in Texas could lead to results that mirror the party’s victories in special elections across the country. “We’ve seen a surge of liberal enthusiasm in deep red states like Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma,” Abbott says in the email, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. “We had always hoped the liberal wave would never hit Texas, but these Early Voting returns aren’t encouraging so far.” Compared to the first six days of early voting in 2014, Democratic turnout has increased by 69 percent, according to the Dallas newspaper. Republican turnout has increased by 20 percent. Early voting for the March primary in Texas is more than halfway over and already more than 151,000 Democrats have turned out to vote, compared to 135,000 Republicans. Texas Democrats have already surpassed early voting totals for the 2016 elections. In an interview with The Hill on Sunday, Abbott said his own reelection campaign is based on trying to win over Hispanic voters, 44 percent of whom backed him at the ballot box last time. “We constantly are involved in letting the Hispanic community know that they are an essential, vital component to the future of Texas,” he said. thehill.com/homenews/campaign/375727-texas-governor-warns-of-dems-strong-early-votingIt's even worse than he thinks. A whole lot of us Democrats are showing up to vote in the Republican primary specifically to try to remove awful Dan Patrick from the ballot in favor of a candidate who supports public education. We'll be flipping and voting blue in November, though. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)

“Mexican buyers imported 10 times more corn from Brazil last year amid concerns that Trump’s NAFTA renegotiations could disrupt U.S. supplies.
Mexico’s now on track to buy more Brazilian corn in ‘18, which would further hurt the U.S. agricultural sector.”
When trump pulled out of TPP he screwed the hog farmers who had planned on exporting the pork to TPP members.
Now he is screwing the corn farmers.
The great negotiator at work.

I wasn’t aware that Starr, Turley, & Neapolitan were on Mueller’s team. The Mueller team is so tight lipped that we have no idea what they will find. But I’m still thinking Mueller will nail trump’s cowardly behind to the wall for money laundering with Russian Oligarchs.

“Something may be happening at @realdonaldtrump’s hotel in Panama, whose owner is trying to kick out Trump Org. Police cars pulled up.”
“Here's the back story on that @realdonaldtrump hotel in Panama, which has been struggling. The owner blames Trump Org. for bad mgmt, and Trump brand for bad sales. Trump Org. says he's got no right to kick 'em out.”
This the hotel where the trump staff grabbed documents and locked themselves in a room when the owners tried to kick them out. It was reported that you could hear a sound like shredding paper.

“Sens. Warren, Blumenthal + Merkley want Mick Mulvaney to explain recent actions benefitting payday lenders and how his ties to the payday loan industry may have influenced his decision: "You have failed to provide any clarity on the rationale for your actions to harm consumers."
Everywhere you turn with trump, his businesses, and those he surrounds himself with you can add the word “corruption”

“I will kill any tax legislation that benefits @delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with @nra. Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back.”
Ah I’m hearing what you are proposing is illegal. If true is that how conservatives “fight back” is by breaking the law?

Rep Don. Beyer..
“The NRA walked back Trump’s comments for him, and then after he suggested he might cross them, he backed down.
@realdonaldtrump is afraid of the NRA.”
From Jim Acosta..
“Trump appears to be backing away from his support for 21 year age limit for assault weapons purchases, sources tell us tonight.”
trump is afraid of everyone who challenges him.
Here is an example of trump’s type of bravery.
Years ago when I was taking photography classes I need some pictures for an assignment so I went to this neat park in the hills behind where I live. I took my dad’s dog Sam with me. Sam was a lab mix and weighed about 90 lbs.
While taking pictures this huge Irish Wolfhound, off leash, ambles up. Sam, who was on a leash, immediately went behind me. Didn’t try and get away just put me between him and the other dog. The women who was with the dog assured me the dog was friendly and I pointed out that he would come across a lot friendlier if he was on a leash. They ambled away.
Back in the parking lot the women and their dog were sitting by their car which happened to be by mine. Mine was an old van at the time. I put Sam in the van and he immediately went to the back and started barking at the Irish Wolfhound through the back windows.
That analogy fits trump to a “t”.

linkCNN... NSA chief says Trump hasn't told him to confront Russian cyber threatUS Cyber Command chief Adm. Mike Rogers told lawmakers on Tuesday that he has not been granted the authority by President Donald Trump to disrupt Russian election hacking operations where they originate. Asked by Democratic Sen. Jack Reed if he has been directed by the President, through the defense secretary, to confront Russian cyber operators, Rogers said "no I have not" but noted that he has tried to work within the authority he maintains as a commander. While he did not agree with Reed's characterization that the US has been "sitting back and waiting," Rogers admitted that it is fair to say that "we have not opted to engage in some of the same behaviors we are seeing" with regards to Russia. "It has not changed the calculus or the behavior on behalf of the Russians," Rogers said about the US response to Russia's cyber threat to date. "They have not paid a price that is sufficient to change their behavior," he added.“ Why somebody asked? IMO if trump really acknowledges Russia mettled in the elections then he has deal with the possibility he won by default and his fragile little ego couldn’t handle that. Additional proof it’s all about him and not what’s good for the country.

What's coming down? Well, Mueller moved to dismiss some of the charges against Gates, without prejudice.
What does that mean? Gates must have had something juicy to give him, and he must have sung like a canary.

Judge Curiel, attacked by Trump, rules border wall can proceed Tal Kopan By Tal Kopan, CNN Updated 5:11 PM ET, Tue February 27, 2018 (CNN)US District Judge Gonzalo Curiel has cleared one potential obstacle to President Donald Trump's long-promised border wall, ruling Tuesday that the administration has the authority to waive a host of environmental laws and other regulations to begin construction. Curiel's 100-page order does not mean construction of the wall will begin immediately. Congress has yet to authorize or provide funding for the project. Thus far, the Department of Homeland Security has built several prototypes in San Diego. Curiel was famously the target of Trump's ire when he presided over a lawsuit against Trump University, which was ultimately settled after Trump won the White House. Trump drew fierce criticism in June 2016 when he said that Curiel, who was born in Indiana, was biased against him due to his Mexican heritage. In his ruling Tuesday, Curiel noted that the border wall is a highly contentious issue under this administration but said he did not factor that into his decision. linkThe New York Times “Ben Carson’s HUD, Planning Cuts, Spends $31,000 on Dining Set for His Office”
From the article.... Department of Housing and Urban Development officials spent $31,000 on a new dining room set for Secretary Ben Carson’s office in late 2017 — just as the White House circulated its plans to slash HUD’s programs for the homeless, elderly and poor, according to federal procurement records. The purchase of the custom hardwood table, chairs and hutch came a month after a top agency staff member filed a whistle-blower complaint charging Mr. Carson’s wife, Candy Carson, with pressuring department officials to find money for the expensive redecoration of his offices, even if it meant circumventing the law. Mr. Carson is also facing questions on another front. Under pressure earlier this month, he requested that HUD’s inspector general investigate his son’s involvement in a department-sponsored listening tour of Baltimore last summer. Department lawyers had warned Mr. Carson that including Ben Carson Jr., an entrepreneur who does business with the federal government, could create a conflict of interest. Mr. Carson “didn’t know the table had been purchased,” but does not believe the cost was too steep and does not intend to return it, said Raffi Williams, a HUD spokesman.“
Of course he doesn’t. I wonder if there will be any uproar over this? Wasting tax payer dollars. Probably not. He’s a Republican so it’s ok. 🚫 #MAGA

“Ben Carson’s HUD, Planning Cuts, Spends $31,000 on Dining Set for His Office” There is MORE! '$5,000 will not even buy a decent chair': HUD staffer files complaint over Ben Carson office redecorationRene Marsh-Profile-Image By Rene Marsh, CNN Updated 5:38 PM ET, Tue February 27, 2018 Washington (CNN)The former chief administrative officer for the Department of Housing and Urban Development says she was demoted in part for refusing to spend more than was legally allowed to redecorate Secretary Ben Carson's new office. HUD inspector general looking into role Ben Carson's family has played In a November 2017 complaint obtained by CNN, Helen Foster said she was told to "find money" beyond the legal $5,000 limit for redecorating. In one instance, she says a supervisor said that "$5,000 will not even buy a decent chair." Foster's sworn complaint with the Office of Special Counsel, the independent agency charged with investigating whistleblower complaints made by government employees, says that after she refused to misuse taxpayer dollars for the office redecoration project she was "retaliated against by being taken out of my position as Chief Administrative Officer." She says that HUD's Acting Secretary Craig Clemmensen pulled her aside more than a month before Carson's March confirmation and told her that Carson's wife, Candy, wanted to "help the Secretary redecorate his office suite." Clemmensen asked Foster to assist with "getting Mrs. Carson access and funds for the project," the complaint states. Foster said she told Clemmensen that legally, the department was limited in how much it could spend on the office redecorating project to $5,000, information she says she also passed along to the administrative officer in the Secretary's office. But even so, Foster said she received repeated pressure in multiple conversations to "find money" for the redecorating project in excess of what was legally allowed, including in a one-on-one meeting on February 10. Clemmensen, according to the complaint, told Foster that the administration "has always found money for this in the past." ** "The most frustrating part of all this was spending so much time on this issue," the former employee said. "Instead of focusing on HUD's mission, we were talking about furniture for the Secretary's office. www.cnn.com/2018/02/27/politics/ben-carson-office-furniture-whistleblower/index.htmlShe has since filed complaints ...as a whistleblower. she has been demoted.....

I am now searching for the article I read about the Panama hotel thing.......... ETA: I did find this unrelated article: Trump’s Russian Laundromat
How to use Trump Tower and other luxury high-rises to clean dirty money, run an international crime syndicate, and propel a failed real estate developer into the White House. BY CRAIG UNGER July 13, 2017 In 1984, a Russian émigré named David Bogatin went shopping for apartments in New York City. The 38-year-old had arrived in America seven years before, with just $3 in his pocket. But for a former pilot in the Soviet Army—his specialty had been shooting down Americans over North Vietnam—he had clearly done quite well for himself. Bogatin wasn’t hunting for a place in Brighton Beach, the Brooklyn enclave known as “Little Odessa” for its large population of immigrants from the Soviet Union. Instead, he was fixated on the glitziest apartment building on Fifth Avenue, a gaudy, 58-story edifice with gold-plated fixtures and a pink-marble atrium: Trump Tower. A monument to celebrity and conspicuous consumption, the tower was home to the likes of Johnny Carson, Steven Spielberg, and Sophia Loren. Its brash, 38-year-old developer was something of a tabloid celebrity himself. Donald Trump was just coming into his own as a serious player in Manhattan real estate, and Trump Tower was the crown jewel of his growing empire. From the day it opened, the building was a hit—all but a few dozen of its 263 units had sold in the first few months. But Bogatin wasn’t deterred by the limited availability or the sky-high prices. The Russian plunked down $6 million to buy not one or two, but five luxury condos. The big check apparently caught the attention of the owner. According to Wayne Barrett, who investigated the deal for the Village Voice, Trump personally attended the closing, along with Bogatin. ** In 1987, just three years after he attended the closing with Trump, Bogatin pleaded guilty to taking part in a massive gasoline-bootlegging scheme with Russian mobsters. After he fled the country, the government seized his five condos at Trump Tower, saying that he had purchased them to “launder money, to shelter and hide assets.” A Senate investigation into organized crime later revealed that Bogatin was a leading figure in the Russian mob in New York. His family ties, in fact, led straight to the top: His brother ran a $150 million stock scam with none other than Semion Mogilevich, whom the FBI considers the “boss of bosses” of the Russian mafia. At the time, Mogilevich—feared even by his fellow gangsters as “the most powerful mobster in the world”—was expanding his multibillion-dollar international criminal syndicate into America. ** . Many used his apartments and casinos to launder untold millions in dirty money. Some ran a worldwide high-stakes gambling ring out of Trump Tower—in a unit directly below one owned by Trump. Others provided Trump with lucrative branding deals that required no investment on his part. Taken together, the flow of money from Russia provided Trump with a crucial infusion of financing that helped rescue his empire from ruin, burnish his image, and launch his career in television and politics. “They saved his bacon,” says Kenneth McCallion, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Reagan administration who investigated ties between organized crime and Trump’s developments in the 1980s. ** In April 2013, a little more than two years before Trump rode the escalator to the ground floor of Trump Tower to kick off his presidential campaign, police burst into Unit 63A of the high-rise and rounded up 29 suspects in two gambling rings. The operation, which prosecutors called “the world’s largest sports book,” was run out of condos in Trump Tower—including the entire fifty-first floor of the building. In addition, unit 63A—a condo directly below one owned by Trump—served as the headquarters for a “sophisticated money-laundering scheme” that moved an estimated $100 million out of the former Soviet Union, through shell companies in Cyprus, and into investments in the United States. The entire operation, prosecutors say, was working under the protection of Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov, whom the FBI identified as a top Russian vor closely allied with Semion Mogilevich. In a single two-month stretch, according to the federal indictment, the money launderers paid Tokhtakhounov $10 million. ** Much more at link: newrepublic.com/article/143586/trumps-russian-laundromat-trump-tower-luxury-high-rises-dirty-money-international-crime-syndicate
