I think it looks great and the darker color suits you. Mine is thinning a little and I really notice it more when my color fades, so I always go dark. I used Bumble and Bumble thickening spray today for the first time today- thanks to a pea, but can't remember who it was. Even though I don't dry my hair, it seemed to work good. I'll keep using it.

You lost weight and years! You look great! I’d never know you’re wearing the topper. I love your color.

For all the peas that mention thinning hair, did you previously have thick hair? I'm just curious where you started on the thin to medium to thick spectrum.
I've always had thick hair and while I lose a lot from shedding, showering and combing, I don't notice any less hair. I'm 52 and my hormones have been fluctuating quite a bit lately so I'm wondering if changes are ahead for me.

SweetieBugs, my hair was always very straight and fine. But I used to have a lot of hair. I'm not sure if it's my thyroid, my PCOS, or my psychiatric medication, but my hair keeps getting thinner.

You look fantastic (hair and weight). I LOVE that dark color on you, it makes you look 15 years younger. No idea you have anything other than your hair I lost a bunch of hair during weight loss too. I started taking biotin and collagen (blech) and it's slowed considerably.

You look fabulous! And that smile in the third photo tells me you feel fabulous, too.
I applaud you as well for sharing your experience. You never know who you may help by doing so. I had no idea there was any such thing as a topper. I have a friend who may be interested and I plan to share your information with her. Thank you.

You look awesome and much younger! You should be very proud of yourself for working to achieve your weight loss! I never would have guessed you were wearing anything other than your own hair. I think you had the right idea to go darker. I think people will focus on that and be jealous of how great you look. I doubt anyone would even wonder about it.

Mine was super thick. The texture was a mixture of thin and thicker strands (some curly/wavy and some straighter), but the volume was huge. I now have what is probably on the thin side of "normal" but because it is so white, it appears thinner. (My avatar is from a couple of weeks ago and most people wouldn't notice that it's "thin" but it is much, much thinner than my normal thickness) My stylist took a good look today and really only noticed one area that he would call thin but said that part of the problem is that my new growth that is replacing the lost hair is coming in very white so it appears thinner. Weight loss related hair loss is quite a bit different than what I experienced from aging and normal periodic shedding. I have been losing about 4 full handfuls per day or possibly even more. The bathroom trash can looks like a squirrel died in it. I've upped my daily protein and doubled the biotin but I haven't added collagen. I know the cause of my loss, so I'm confident (hoping) that it is almost over.

SweetieBugs My hair was very thick before I started HRT. Over the last 10 years, it has thinned considerably.

I would not have known that was a topper in your picture, without you saying so. I think you look great, I actually really like the darker colour on you. I also gotta say, you have a beautiful smile.

You and your topper look amazing! I've never heard about a topper before and am getting to the point where I am thinking about investigating wigs so will definitely look into this.
My hair has always been fine but I had tons & tons of it until I the last 10 years or so. Menopause & hormonal changes seem to be the trigger for my thinning hair.

Thanks guys! The meeting this afternoon was fine, I was all nerves for nothing.
You can get toppers in real or synthetic. Real is more expensive and requires styling. Where with synthetic, it stays in the style it came in. I opted for synthetic for my first one based on things I read online. It’s good to start with a less expensive option to make sure you will like it first. I didn’t pick a curly one because I didn’t want to curl my own hair, which does show thru, unlike a wig.
My dd went with me to the wig shop. They only had a half dozen toppers to try on and none in my color (highlighted or dark). I was trying to match my highlighted hair to the little swatches they had. Dd suggested I try on a wig in the darker brown (she’s been wanting me to go back to brown for awhile). Once I put on the brown I knew she was right.
After the topper came in (took a couple days) I picked it up at the wig shop and they helped me trim the length (it was a couple inches too long) and cut in some bangs. I left and went to Sally’s where I picked up a matching hair dye and went home to color my bio hair. First time I’ve ever done that at home before...so easy! If I go to the gym, I just pull my hair back in a pony. Figure I’ll do the same thing for swimming and wear a ball cap for other outdoor activities (and Disney trips).

You are super gorgeous! Congratulations on your weight loss and your hair looks amazing. I wanted to also say thank you for posting about a sensitive topic that I know will help others. I have age related thinning, and I had no idea something like a topper existed. Is it real or synthetic hair? I have always had fine thin hair and have never heard of a topper. Curious too. I think you look fantastic! I am ALWAYS, always feeling hot. Wonder how much hotter you might feel while wearing the topper.

Thank you for sharing this. You are giving me a lot of food for thought.
I’ve never had a lot of hair, but with aging and weight loss, it’s pathetic now. I’m very interested to see if a topper will work for me.
