You look fantastic! Love the hair colour. I like it better than the blonde on you.

I think it looks great and the darker color suits you. Mine is thinning a little and I really notice it more when my color fades, so I always go dark. I used Bumble and Bumble thickening spray today for the first time today- thanks to a pea, but can't remember who it was. Even though I don't dry my hair, it seemed to work good. I'll keep using it. That is the best thickening spray for my hair. I use the B&B spray, blow dry, and then use a light dry hairspray that doesn't weigh down the hair (big sexy hair is a good one). I've never heard of this kind of hairpiece but I'd love to try it one day. My hair isn't thinning, but I think this would be a fun addition to everyday hair. You look fabulous in it!

It's still winter weather here (Seattle area), so I'm still feeling cold all the time and haven't noticed much of a change. My neck feels warmer if I have it pulled forward, but I think it would feel that way if I had thicker/longer bio hair too. The base of them can vary significantly (from things like 4"x6" to 9"x9") Some have more of a cap like a wig, which I think would definitely be warmer. I have this topper Tony of Beverly Blend 18 in the color cinnamon. But, as I mentioned, I had a couple inches taken off the length and some shorter bangs added in.

Congrats on the weight loss! I'm sorry that it messed with your hair. Your topper is very natural, and you look so pretty!
And, I'm sure you have researched everything, but just wanted to ask if you have considered trying Monet? (No, I don't sell it.) I have several friends who swear by the stuff, and at least 2 that I have seen their hair starting to fill back in. Anyway, just a thought.

I haven't heard of Monat...I'll look it up though. I did try Nioxin and didn't notice any difference. I took Biotin for a good 9 months before deciding it wasn't doing anything. My nails still grow like crazy and I've used Latisse/CareProst on my brows and lashes and they look great.

You look so beautiful! Congratulations on your weight loss! I love the darker color and your topper. You look so much younger and I can't tell at all that it isn't your real hair!
This is an important message for everyone! Do not use Monet! It will ruin your hair and cause permanent hair loss. I don't sell it nor do I know anyone who does. There is the beginning of a class action suit against Monet. There are a few groups on facebook with photos of people who's hair has been ruined including children. I've never tried it but belong to two facebook groups regarding the curly girl method of taking care of curly hair. That's how I heard about this. I just didn't want anyone here to use it and have it ruin your hair. From what I've read there is something in the product's formula that messes with your hormones. It's just horrible the photos I've seen. Not just hair loss but scarring and sores too.
For those of you fighting hair loss I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. I'm not sure if it would help but with the Curly Girl method we avoid all hair products with sulfates, parabans and silicone in them. Silicone coats each hair shaft like plastic (makes your hair shiny) and in the short run your hair looks good, but what it also does is prevent the good stuff (like in great conditioners) from getting in to help your hair get better. Sulfates that are in most shampoos dry your hair out like crazy. One of the very best lines of hair care products I've ever found is called Raw Hair Organics. I was shocked how what an improvement it made to my hair. They make products for curly and straight hair. I have nothing to do with them I'm just a happy customer. They are actually a salon in Florida that makes all of their own products. You get them by ordering them online here rawhairorganics.com When you get there the first page is for curly hair, but if you scroll down the page and get to the bottom they have options for straight hair, men's hair and even pets! I just looked at straight hair and an 8 oz. bottle for thin hair is $16.95. Yes, I know it's a lot compared to shampoo at Target but I personally think it's worth a try. Of course it's for you to decide.
I've been lucky that even with hypothyroid I'm doing okay so far with hair loss. Knock wood and crossing my fingers. My hair has thin strands but thick density (meaning there is a lot of it-when I make a braid it's thick). I haven't used heat on my hair in the past 12 years-threw out my hair dryer when it turned curly when I hit menopause. I also only wash it once every 5 days. It doesn't need it more than that-because it's wavy/curly. Once I started the CG method 12 years ago I was able to slowly change to that. That's when I change to the better hair products too. I don't know if any of that helped me avoid hair loss. Who knows?

I have several friends who swear by the stuff, and at least 2 that I have seen their hair starting to fill back in. Anyway, just a thought. One of my FB friends posted this the other day. I have family that sells it and I haven't used it. It has always made me nervous. I have a feeling it's the next luluroe. I wish family would cut and run while they are ahead but I guarantee that won't happen "I know that a ton of my friends and family use or sell Monat, so I have kept quiet about this for awhile so as not to cause problems, but since so many people are using this stuff on their kids I feel like I need to share what I know. Monat is a very sketchy company and a potentially dangerous product. Monat contains several ingredients that affect hormone production (they actually brag about this on their website), including red clover which may be unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women or women who have a history of breast cancer due to its connection with estrogen. Monat peddles their product as “all natural” which is misleading - not everything in it is “natural” and even if it were, natural doesn’t mean safe, there are plenty of naturally occurring carcinogens and hormone blockers and skin irritants. Further, I have seen countless firsthand testimonials from people who have had scabs, burns, severe hair damage, and hair loss from using Monat. Monat calls it “hair detox” (which is not a real thing) and encourages people to keep using it and “push through” (do not ever ever EVER continue to use any beauty product that gives you scabs, burns, or hair loss). There is a support group with over 17,000 people in it who have had negative experiences with either the product or the company. There are also lots of YouTube videos of people showing their scabs and hair loss from using Monat. The President of the company was previously involved in a Ponzi scheme that was shut down by the government (TelexFREE). Monat is also filing several lawsuits and sending out threatening legal letters (see links below and photos in comments for a few examples) against women who have shared their negative experiences with the product and in some cases have even sent letters to their employers demanding that they be fired or Monat will sue the employer. They have every right to pursue legitimate defamation claims but many of these appear to be attempts to bully and intimidate past customers and consultants who had bad experiences into keeping quiet. There are anti-SLAPP laws that prohibit that kind of thing. It’s really just a horrible, unethical company. I’m sure there are people out there who will say they have had a positive experience with Monat. Good for them. However, note that Monat is loaded up with coating chemicals (see link below) that superficially coat the hair to make it temporarily appear smoother and shinier. There is nothing wrong with that, but that is not the same thing as making hair healthier. I can make my hair smooth and shiny with a flat iron but I am seriously damaging it in the process and making it much less healthy with repeated use. Some hair products have the same deceptive effect. Also, many of the people who experienced burns and hair loss had no symptoms at first, and began to see negative side effects around the three month mark. If you’re using it now with no issues, keep an eye on it and discontinue if you start to see the same problems. Personally, I just don’t want to support a company that has treated their customers this way and that continues to ignore the many many reports of physical harm resulting from their products. It makes me really nervous to think of how many people use this on their kids or use it while pregnant or breastfeeding without knowing the full story on the ingredients and the possible bad reactions. Buyer beware. I don't know if any of that helped me avoid hair loss. Who knows? I forgot to mention: If you decide to transition to products without sulfates, parabans and silicones you'll need to do what we curly girls call "the final wash". Basically you have to wash with a shampoo that will get rid of the silicones in your hair because like I mentioned above they coat each hair shaft like plastic and you want the good ingredients in the new products to be able to get into each hair shaft to start to do it's repair work. Even if you have straight hair you'll need to do this. Don't worry, it's easy. I used Johnson and Johnson's Baby Shampoo to do mine. A lot of the other girls do too. Then it's highly recommended that you do a deep treatment conditioner now that the silicones are gone. I use and love Jessicurl Deep Treatment. You can order it from her site jessicurl.com If you sign up with her site she has one day a week she offers free shipping. It is truly amazing how moisturizing this deep treatment is and it's filled with all of the "good stuff" and none of the bad. It comes in 3 scents including unscented and they are all from natural ingredients which I really love because I can use them without getting migraines. Same with the scents in the raw organics line. The deep treatment is designed to stay on for 30 minutes. To make it work every better you can add heat. I put on a clear processing shower cap (the kind you use when you color your hair) over my conditioned hair and then on top of that add a Hot Head. It's a wonderful cotton cap filled with flax seeds that you heat up in the microwave. You can get it here www.thermalhaircare.com First time I tried the deep conditioner without it and it worked really well. Second time I tried it with the hot head and I was shocked how great it worked. I do this treatment once a month because I have hard water.

Thanks for the info on Monat. I tend to avoid MLM products because I don’t care for the hassle of dealing with a rep..I just want to walk into a store or pull up Amazon and make my purchase. :-)
I do use a good shampoo line, happy with that. My bangs and I like a good daily shampoo, even if it’s not the best thing in the world.

First, congrats on the weight loss! You look fantastic, though you looked great in the "before" shot too. You're adorable! Second, don't feel that wearing a wig is embarrassing. Lots of women wear them every day and switch it up frequently for variety and they're not even trying to hide that it's a wig and they look fabulous. Porsha on RHOA switches hers up all the time and she looks great.
So enjoy your new look and if you get any negative or questionable comments, you should just say "weight loss made my hair fall out so I bought some new hair" and leave it at that.
Your hair loss will most likely stabilize and fill back in, though it may not be as thick as before. Multivitamins and biotin might help, and make sure you're getting a "healthy" fat every day like avocados or nuts.

Love, love, love your new look! Congratulations on the weight loss, you look amazing.
Thank you for sharing your story and pictures. I also experienced a large amount of hair loss due to weight loss and it was a big kick to my self esteem. I looked better physically, but going from very thick curly hair to very thin straight hair did more of a number on me than being fat did, mentally speaking.
Now, I'm off to check out toppers!
