there is a charity in NZ that gives Christmas Cards to the residents in rest homes I'm glad to hear there's a group in NZ doing this too (I'm from NZ originally but I live in the US now).

Okay. So. It’s June 4 th and after promising myself I’d start my Christmas cards June 1..... I’ve still not started. Ugh.
I thought by not buying cards on sale after Christmas last year, I would be significantly more motivated to make cards this year for the Refugea card swap. In past years, I’ve sent to everyone, but this year may be the first year I will need to scale back significantly. Sigh.
I need to browse Pinterest for ideas and get going!

I thought I’d get a good start, but this year has flown by so fast already. June is booked solid. Maybe we can do Christmas in July again here on the board to get us all motivated.

There's still lots and lots of time. Even by your own deadline you're only running a couple of days late. I would pick one simple idea to get started on - once you get something done you should gain some momentum. Whether it's stamping holiday critters on white cardstock, or making sentiment strips, or die cutting some shapes, it will get you started. Last year I spent the week of Hallmark Channel's "Christmas in July" making cards. It wasn't like I hadn't already seen all the movies, but it was an event, a specific time, and at least having all the Christmas movies on in the background distracted me from wondering why I was making snowy cards during the hottest month of the year. I believe they screen it about 100 days before they start their Christmas movie season (which is super early, around Halloween!) so it's plenty early to be starting Christmas crafting.

Off for a weekend retreat with a bunch of card blanks, supplies, dies, embossing folders, and tools all geared toward Christmas cards. Printed off the first couple of pages of my Christmas Card Ideas Pinterest board to take with us. (No wifi at our retreat, so I can't check as we go). I usually start in October. Last year I played along with LisaDV's Christmas in July, so got started then. I have never started Christmas cards this early!

I just bought a Tim Holtz Christmas Fair Isle sweater stencil with my last amazon order (it was an add-on item so I had to wait until I had some other things to buy). This morning I tried using a bit of red oxide ink on a blending brush to create a simple background on a white card. With a little Christmas bear or snowman die cut it's looking pretty cute. I think with the addition of a sentiment it will be a perfect quick Christmas card to mass-produce. view on InstagramI might experiment on different colored cards, and with different colors of ink, and I think I could fancy it up with a masked shape or a die cut window for him to peek through. In theory, though, I could make all of my Pea swap cards using the basic design and be done pretty quickly. I'm trying to remember that last year I wished I'd just made all my cards the same because I started second-guessing who should get which design.

I have started on Christmas cards. I have a few different designs. I get bored if I do the same card too many times, so I keep switching it up. I do a Christmas Card exchange, and last year I made about 110 cards. I think I may have about 15 cards done, but at least it is a start. I do like looking at the different stamps and dies and deciding what I will be using.

I’m hoping to start next month. Are you planning on ramping up the Christmas in July challenge again? I need to go check on those CIJ pinterest boards! 36 Christmas cards finished at our crop. I did a couple more with some scraps when I got home, but Christmas is all safely stored back in its corner cabinet again after my marathon scrap room clean up. We will have family here the first couple of weekends in July so it is time to get my house in order!

IT's JULY! Oh my gosh! Who is doing some kind of Christmas in July project? Will anybody else be working hard on Christmas cards during the Hallmark channel Christmas Keepsake week? I think it starts in about 10 days. I did some experiments with die cutting satin-finish gold cardstock today - the results made me happy. linkanother link

I start my cards in August/September....for the pea swap. This year I will be doing more, as there is a charity in NZ that gives Christmas Cards to the residents in rest homes that would otherwise not be acknowledged. So I may start earlier...... I would love a link to that charity if you don't mind sharing- I have been looking for something similar to donate to.

July already! WOW! Hard to believe. I don't usually even start thinking about my Christmas cards until NFL season starts, or sometimes late August, but last year I started them in July. I did a lot of Copic colouring on them last year, something I definitely not very good at, so it was nice to be able to take my time and I must admit that it was a really nice feeling getting them done a little earlier than usual. I've had an idea spinning around in my head for months so I think I will probably get working on the first one to see if it turns out the way I've got it pictured because we all know that sometimes what we think will be amazing doesn't always turn out that way! All my cards are the same so I generally make a "prototype" (that I end up using on a scrapbook page for Christmas) and then I have an assembly line approach for making them all. Actually, I think I would have already started them, but I'm waiting on a die from AliEx that I ordered in May and still haven't received... By the time it gets here it may be the end of August!

I did 9 Christmas cards this week. I colored the background and images for one card. The other 8 were cut out on my Cricut Explore and I assembled and adhered the layers. It may not be a lot of cards, but it felt good to get them done. I have been watching a few Christmas movies on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel, so it is a good time to do Christmas cards. Plus, when it is so hot out, it is nice to think about cooler weather.

It sounds like you have a good plan - hopefully your die that's on the slow boat from China gets here soon! I admire people who can come up with one good idea and stick with it. I'm always making changes along the way and deciding I want more variety and getting distracted by other shiny things. But then when it comes time to send the cards out I agonize over who gets which one and start second-guessing my choices... so maybe I should follow your lead and stick to one design, at least for my family cards. And my Pea cards. Keep it simple!

I did 9 Christmas cards this week. 9 is great! If we all made 9 cards each month, or each week during the summer we'd probably have most of our cards done long before winter even started. Hopefully you can keep your momentum up. The Hallmark romance Christmas Keepsake week starts on Friday. I don't know if they do the same thing on their other channels, or if the timing is different, but I usually try to work on cards then. Good luck keeping cool. I always have to laugh when I'm sweating over my "let it snow" cards in July.

I got a digital Santa freebie last year that I planned to use for quick cards. Of course I never even got to it. I finally printed some tests out last week. My ScanNCut can't make out the edges of the snow and white beard so I'm going to have to play around with that. Or maybe I should just use some of those Christmasy fonts I downloaded to make all digi card panels. Save myself some time cutting and stamping... Maybe I should get organized too. I'm sure I also have a ton of Christmas stuff between December Daily supplies, fonts, digital stamps, and freebies I've picked up because they'd be "so useful"!

Sigh. My boss better get back here soon, so I can go back to work. Instead of shopping online for craft stuff. Found a 'new to me' stamp company last night on YouTube. Went to their website just now and looks like they are brand new. Besides the set I saw last night that I have to have, I saw a cute nativity set that I have to have too. And a deer set. And I have only glanced at the first 4 stamp sets. Hello Bluebird StampsI think my wallet just ran away.
