Getting together with friends.
I'm making the Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with Bailey's frosting & Drunken Irish stew that also has Guinness in the recipe. I am using some of the Strawberry & Cream Bailey's that I purchased a few weeks ago and will put a fresh strawberry on each cupcake.
What are your plans? It is great that this year it is on a Saturday.

Not Irish and we don't drink, so our celebrating is pretty low key. I always make some Watergate Salad, because it's green, of course, and DH bakes a loaf or 2 of Irish soda bread. He is a retired baker, and that is pretty much the extent of his baking these days.

I'm part Irish (thanks Ancestry.com!) but I don't drink and I can't stand corned beef!! The extent of my celebration will be that I will wear green! I will probably tell my dh "Kiss me, I'm Irish"!
Your cupcakes sound amazing...I would totally eat those!

We had corned beef, carrots, cabbage, potatoes and turnips for dinner last night with delicious leftovers tonight.
On Saturday night we’re going out with my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate my birthday which is on Sunday. I’ll be eating an amazing steak at a great farm to table restaurant not far from us. And dessert is always chocolate pots de creme which is decadent.

We usually do corned beef and cabbage but this year we have dinner reservations at a beautiful restaurant. My dad has just returned from a long vacation in Mexico and while he was there he turned 70! We are taking him out to celebrate. And I get to meet his girlfriend. He's been seeing her a while now and we've never met.
So I'll be doing the corned beef on Friday.

Not Irish so we don't do much of anything special, but I came across this Vegan Irish Stew recipe that I'll buy a whole case of Guinness for. I'll use a can in the stew and my husband gets the rest of the case! Vegan Irish Stew

It’s my niece’s fourth birthday party. I’m doing Whole30 so I’m happy to go and not be tempted by green beer.

Our kids and there families are coming over for corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes, and carrots. There will be pizza for the littles that want nothing to do with corned beef. I always make mint chocolate chip pie with Oreo cookie crust, hot fudge and whipped cream. There isn’t anybody who doesn’t like that. LOL

It’s my youngest birthday. So dinner is up to her. I think she wants to go see Wrinkle in Time so we will probably do that and then her party is at a local bakery on Sunday. If I cook it will be Irish style sausages, mashed potatoes with Guinness onion gravy as that is her favorite meal.

My son has a big swim meet that day. We usually do the whole Irish corned beef feast - this year it may be pizza and Guinness - or maybe Jameson depending on how long it lasts

One of my dearest friends and I have tickets to a concert that night. Kids and husbands are on their own!! We are going to have a totally rocking non-Irish holiday. I am sure it will be a total zoo downtown between the concert, the holiday, and the "wintry mix" they are forecasting but I cannot wait!

I'll be bar hopping starting at 8am. I live in a smallish city and we have close to 20 restaurant/bars in walking distance. I've never worked on St. Patrick's day. We even skipped school back in the day.

There is a very high chance that everyone in Ireland will be watching the TV on Sat. Irish people love sport and they play England on Sat in the Six Nations competition in rugby. Ireland has already won the Championship with a game to go but if they win on Sat they will win the Grand Slam, ie they will have beaten all the other nations. Grand Slams are not won easily or often so it's going to be a great match. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/43366067

I'm making Shepard's Pie for my Irish husband. I'm using Alton Brown's recipe. It's my first time making it. I'm a little nervous especially since it was one of his mom's favorites. I'm not sure what to serve with it? Salad? Beer?
Wish me luck!

My dad’s side of the family is Irish but we honestly did not do anything for St Patrick’s Day growing up, and we didn’t eat any Irish foods. I had corned beef last year for the first time and thought it was horrible. Way too salty for me.
My kids make “leprechaun bait” at school and I’ve seen a few people talk about leprechauns coming to their house. But I really don’t know what the story is with this or what you are supposed to do. When I was in school wearing green was the extent of St Patrick’s day fun.

My boys and I have karate belt graduation on St. Patrick's Day...where we will be earning our green belts. How cool is that?
I'm making beef stew (with Irish beer in it) and Irish soda bread for dinner.

Our downtown area is blocking off the streets for a pub crawl. I don't know that I'll finish the crawl, but I'm looking forward to it. It also happens to be the day after my 40th birthday and opening day for the new second hand book store downtown, so we're looking forward to that too. I'm not sure yet what we'll eat, several of the restaurants are having Irish fare, but there's also going to be a Russian food truck at the brewery, so we might be having Russian for St. Patty's day.

We've been St. Patricksing since February 24th! DD is an Irish dancer, so it's about a month long Irish-the-crap-out-of-everything season for us.
We had two parades last weekend plus a couple of performances, and on SPD, we have our big parade - one of the biggest half dozen or so in the US. DD and I will leave the house at about 5:45am to go to a local Irish business where we'll have breakfast (and I might just have a Magner's) and DD will dance for TV spots and general entertainment with some of her dance friends. DH will leave our house about 7:30am with the truck & dance school float, and DD and I will walk a couple of blocks to meet him in lineup. We'll spend the next 3 or 4 hours generally hanging out with probably about 150 dancers/family members at the float while we wait to roll, which for us will likely be about noon, though the parade starts at 11:00.
After we're done with the parade, we'll head to the local Irish center to decompress and enjoy music, dance (DD's group and several others), and some food & beverages and wait to hear the parade award reveals. We'll probably pack up and head home, dead-ass tired, by about 6 and very likely be in bed by 7 or for sure 8!

Having some friends over for our Traditional St Patrick’s Day Celebration which, of course, starts with the NYC St Patrick’s Day Parade on TV. Homemade Irish Soda Bread, CornedBeef, boiled Yukon Gold Potatoes, Cabbage and an assortment of mustards.
Tomorrow I will be delivering a number of Irish Soda Breads to my neighbors and friends.
Definitely “wearing of the green” will be happening at my house on Saturday ! Also one movie my husband can’t miss on St Patrick’s Day is The Quiet Man with John Wayne. So I’m sure after the parade, we all know what movie will be starting.
HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY !

I have a corned beef in the fridge, but ds wouldn't be happy if we ate it without him, so I'm not sure. Saturday is also the fifth anniversary of FIL' s death, so I'm not sure how any of us will be feeling.
