Hey......am I the only one who caught this little gem?? I never quoted or tagged or named lovetocolor. I only said “Lauren” in my comment. And lovetocolor responded, in response, 1st person as Lauren!! BUSTED AGAIN LAUREN!!!!! You want to label Lovetocolor as Lauren, expecting people to know who you're talking about, and when they do, you think you've proven something? Your bandana's on too tight. Fuck off Gia.

Gia, people like to call me Lauren because they think it gets a rise out of me. I'm not going to give them the power to jerk my chain. It makes no difference to me who anyone here thinks I am or who I'm not. For some reason, that idiot you're speaking to gets a lot of glee out of thinking she's had a "gotcha" moment. Since I've got her on a perpetual ignore, let her have her fun. And yes, her bandana's on too tight. Taken together with the broken record that constantly plays in her head, there's little room for rational thought.

You do realize there are more white people than black people in the US. What you should do is take the percentage of white people being shot by police and compare that to the percentage of black people by police. That would give you a more accurate comparison. If you are going to compare the two make sure you do it correctly. You're comparisons are incorrect as you fail to consider the factor I've raised twice now. Take a look at the percentage of black men who commit violent crimes and consider that as a percentage of their overall numbers in the general population. It's insanely high. For example, even though blacks comprise only 13% of the population, they commit 50% of the murders in this country; 55% of the robberies and the only crimes in which their commission of crimes is less than their makeup in the general population is liquor law violations and DUI. How many people have been shot or killed by police who have not committed a crime? How many times has police officer shot someone who was not a threat? Just because you do a crime DOES NOT mean you should be shot. According to Fatal Encounters, the database created by former Reno News & Review editor and journalism instructor Burghart (which tracks all deaths resulting from interactions with police), a total of 1,388 people were killed by police in 2015, 318 (23%) of them black, and 560 (40%) of them white. So roughly 23 percent of those killed by any police interaction in 2015 were black and just over 40 percent were white. According to those statistics (adjusted for racial demographics), black people had a 2.7 higher likelihood of being killed by police than whites.

So glad the Lauren/not Lauren posts have begun. They add so much weight to the death of innocent men by the hand of a "challenged" white terrorist who isn't called a terrorist because white. Yes, black man commit crimes in higher % than their population represents. I don't supposed DECADES upon DECADES of red-lining, blackballing, physical injuries/murders, economic terrorism (burning homes and farms) leading to generations of poverty, malnutrition, learning problems etc. had anything to do w/that. Nah. Disturbing images below. Be warned.

Oh goody. We've now devolved into people commit violent crimes because 75 years ago other people they never knew were hung in horrible ways.
Nope, not going to accept your attempt at excusing inexcusable behavior; or justifying it.

If the bomber was a Muslim or an illegal Immigrant, California or New York would be giving him sanctuary. ETA...or tipping him off when the police were closing in. When you read a comment like this, there is only one thing to say and that is.. Liar liar pants on fire.... I get that people are unhappy with sanctuary cities/states. But before one bad mouth them one should at least get the facts right. Because comments like this do nothing but slam all law enforcement officials in these areas. They don’t deserve that from anyone, especially ill informed folks. Care to enlighten me...what exactly is a sanctuary city/state and why are people unhappy with sanctuary cities/states? What are the facts? I'm interested in your take on it.

Do you live in the US? I'm going to assume you don't since I cannot imagine anyone in this country not knowing what these things are. Sanctuary cities and states tout themselves as havens for illegal immigrants and adopt a policy of not assisting the Federal government, in any way, with identifying, arresting, holding or deporting those who are in this country illegally. They are literally a "sanctuary" for people who either sneak into this country illegally or illegally overstay visas. I can guarantee you though, if anyone (illegal or not) set up a tent on the front lawn of the politicans, celebrities and liberals who are so in favor of allowing illegals to stay, they'd have a very big problem with it. Then again, maybe not since politicians and celebrities tend to have massive walls around their personal homes and armed guards to ensure they are safe. "sanctuary" means they are not personally affected in any way but everyone else should be more "tolerant"

OK, I'll bite. This is my take on what a sanctuary city/state is. When local law enforcement picks up someone. and they are suspected of being illegal, they are supposed to notify ICE. Then ICE will tell the local agency to hold the person until a warrant can be obtained. Meanwhile, if the local agency in a sanctuary city determines they can no longer hold the person without a warrant/arrest, they release the person. They don't wait for ICE. They don't hold the person longer than they are legally obligated to do under city/state law. This is just my interpretation of it. As for the Oakland mayor warning people about upcoming raids, I have mixed feelings about that.

How would you feel about a politician tipping off drug dealers that the police are going to be making a raid on the drug den? Still have mixed feelings? It is unconscionable for a government official to publicly interfere with the government actions of a duly authorized agency and to deliberately prevent them from doing what they are legally charged with doing.

Thanks for the clarification. The problem with the mayor of Oakland is that she didn't just warn schools or businesses. She made a blanket warning to all; criminal and non-criminal.

On one hand, yes, if they are strictly following city/state laws and they can no longer legally detain the person, then they should be released. If they want to be accomodating, then on the other hand, they should hold the person and wait for ICE. But I sometimes read that the local agencies don't want to do ICE's job. And there is the issue of holding a person without a warrant. It is very complicated and I don't see this as black and white.

Do you believe that this is the right thing to do in cases where illegals are released before ICE picks them up? I’m under the impression that each sanctuary city handles these situations differently. I live in Denver, and somebody who’s arrested for a violent crime and has no proof of citizenship is indeed held for ICE. But law enforcement here doesn’t have time to go sniffing around neighborhoods for undocumented people who aren’t bothering anybody. The constitution also forbids requiring local cops to do the job of federal law enforcement.

Sherrilyn Ifill Again, how the police chief talks about a young white man who terrorizes a city. Remember how they talked about innocent Black children like Trayvon, Tamir or young men like Freddy Gray. Police: Austin bomber left 25-minute confession on phone @cnn cnn.it/2IHrHJt "It is the outcry of a very challenged young man talking about challenges in his life that led him to this point," the interim chief said. "I know everybody is interested in a motive and understanding why. And we're never going to be able to put a (rationale) behind these acts," Manley told reporters Wednesday night. positively disgusting - white supremacy and racism in action!

Interesting science. And people include the east, middle or west because the geography is so different here in Tennessee...east is mountains, middle is hills, and west is flat. Poverty is everywhere, so we aren't special as far as that. I do find the author's story bizarre in that he says he basically had a shitty "private school" education with minimal cerebral stimulation, yet he is successful beyond the norm in his professional life. How did he manage college I wonder. Harry T. Burn is also from Rockwood. The peas should Google what his legacy is if they don't already know. And Rockwood is the only place I don't like to drive at night on I-40. The height looking down gets me.

Because the ugly nasty, shit stirring alt ID’s are out in full force.Lauren has always gotten her jollies by insulting peas who think differently than her and then turning it around to play victim, just like a few of her other buddies here. Then she’ll go be all sanctimonious on another thread about how the liberals are all meanies. Same shit different day. If you are referring to me as an alt-ID, I assure you I am not. Just because I haven't been here in a while and haven't posted prolifically here doesn't mean I am not aware of Lauren and her history. I'm sorry, but when someone who gloats when another person's mom dies or wishes death on a premature baby, they deserve to be called out for what they are. Lauren's deplorable reputation precedes her, and I'm not going to ignore her awful behavior.

Lauren, I rarely respond to political comments. I was a lurker at the old board for many years, and have been a part of this group since its inception. Thought not living there now, I was born and raised in New York, visit every year and have many family members still living and working there. As a New Yorker, I find your statement to be offensive, narrow minded, and yes, deplorable.
