I let my gray hair grow out, I haven’t colored since December 2016. My hair is mostly salt and pepper. Lately I’ve been thinking of coloring it again, doing it myself this time.
I’ve been feeling very old lately. I turned 60 last October and I put back on a bunch of weight that I had lost last year.
My hair has gotten curlier as it’s gotten grayer. My last cut (it’s mid neck length) I had done to work with the curl, but the front of my hair is wavy not curly. I’m not sure I like this look either. I’m just a mess.
My son is getting married in October and I want to have gotten my act together by then.
So back to my original question...if you’ve gone gray have you had any regrets? If you went back are you glad?

My story is very similar to yours. I probably stopped coloring my hair sometime in early 2016 maybe. Mine is salt and pepper and some of the grey is very bright white looking. In virtually all photos since the top portion has grown out, the grey is blindingly white.
I am feeling old with the hair and I too have put back on weight I've lost before (I've regained and relost the same 20 to 30 pounds at least 5 times during the past 12 years--so, so frustrating).
I have been regretting growing it out and would love to redye it, but it was so unattractive looking in the growing out phase that I just don't want to do that again.

I am pretty gray, but still dying it with no plans to stop. My hairdresser told me that if I ever dye it at home (happened once because of a snowstorm and then we were going on vacation...), to avoid shades with red in it as it will be very red on the gray hair.

I'm 60 and in the process of growing mine out to gray. I think I'll have 2 more trims and all of my color will be gone.
I'm not concerned with the gray. I'm hoping it will be silver as my dad and grandmother had silver hair. My concern is the texture. I figure if it gets to nasty to fight I'll color it...maybe lavender if that helps!

I’ll go to my grave with colored hair. I'm 61, totally gray and have been for years. There are no plans to ever let the gray grow out. My salon appointments are a line item in the budget that are not up for discussion. Some women look great with gray hair, I'm not in that group. Going gray is an individual decision , but one I don't plan to ever make. If you decide to go with gray, do get your makeup updated. The women I know who don't update their colors, or wear no makeup look washed out and tired.

I’ll go to my grave with colored hair. Absolutely this! Get it professionally done so you don't have that telltale all-one-color box hair. Some people manage with box color just fine, but if it's been a long time, you should get it done by a pro. I have a few colors woven into my hair each time so it doesn't look too brassy or yellow. It's harder to get it right since my natural ashy mousy brown is now at least half grays (I will never let it grow out like this, it is the most unflattering hair color possible). A friend has the same color and she termed it "aging field mouse" LOLOLOL that pretty much sums it up. I think I'd look much older, more tired, and sallow with my pale skin if I let my natural color grow in. I can see when I let my roots get too long that it's not a pretty look on me. I'm 46, I don't need to look any older than I already do! If it grew out a lovely vibrant white or silver, I'd consider it, but most people don't achieve that.

I’ll go to my grave with colored hair. Me, too. I hate my natural color- mousy brown with gray- not happening. I love my dark brown color.

I stopped coloring my hair a few years ago. I'm naturally a dark brunette with some auburn/red highlights. The gray is mostly salt & pepper, with heavy streaks around my face.
On Wednesday my stylist died my hair purple. I'd been thinking about it for a while and put the decision to a mix of boredom and mid-life crisis and I have no regrets. Time will tell if I keep this going.

I have a few greys coming through on the side and now on top. So far it's not very noticeable, but there seem to more and more each month. I have three colours in my hair (4 if you count the grey!) - my natural brown, blonde tips, reddish/caramel tips. I do that to help disguise the greys. I don't know yet whether I will go naturally grey. I don't consider myself to be a vain person, but I think I'm just vain enough to continue colouring my hair until the day I die.

I've never colored my hair and as of yet haven't had regrets. You do need to be prepared for people to occasionally assume you are older than you are, though. Women have been coloring their hair for so long now that people seem to forget just how early we'd all be grey if we were all letting our hair just be. Or else they think women don't stop coloring their hair until they reach a certain age.
Whatever the reason, most women I know with gray hair do get occasional remarks along those lines.

I would like to go gray, but I still have too much dark. I don’t want salt & pepper I want gray. So I’m still coloring and I hate it and the $$$ spent every six weeks.

My Mum never stopped colouring her hair. My dad's sister still colours her hair. I will never stop colouring mine either as I would be all dark brown and mostly grey. Even ex-dh colours his hair black! (Japanese!)
You will be in the photos so you have to decide how you want to look. I know what I would do...

I’ll go to my grave with colored hair. Yes! I am only 38 and already have gray. DH knows that if I were to pass unexpectedly and I have gray showing that my hairdresser is to come and fix my hair before my funeral. I am NOT meeting Jesus with a head full of gray.

I love my gray hair. I admit, the first couple of months after the last of the coloring was cut off I was iffy. Then I started liking the look and quite honestly I’ve never gotten more compliments on my hair in my life. Surprisingly enough, men really like it and so do women. I’m staying this way. I’ve had more than one person tell me that they admire my bravery for not coloring. Nothing brave about it, I was tired of spending almost 2 hours and $100 every 5 weeks to maintain it.
Give yourself some time to adjust to the color. The curl you’ll just have to deal with gray or coloring so that really isn’t a factor.

No regrets here - my hair started going gray about 20 years ago, and it has gone the nice sliver gray that my dad and grandmother's hair went, it has a nice color to it, I always liked the color of my grandma's hair.
I thought at one time about coloring, but I am bad about going to get regular hair cuts (I am over due now, and it will be at least 2 weeks before i can go).
Now dd on the other hand will not let a gray hair stay on her head, she is already coloring her hair and she has just turned 30, claims she has found one.

No, I like my hair, but it does cause twits everywhere to call me “dear.” Pro tip, if you don’t call everybody dear, then don’t call anybody dear. It’s damn annoying.

This is me too. I have no regrets over that choice. My silver/gray is mostly around my temples and frames my face. Quite honestly I like it. I think it is more flattering with my fair skin tone and eye color (green) than the natural light brown hair I had when I was younger. I’m more annoyed with my vanishing eyebrows, but that’s another story!

I use shades of red a lot and it is never any different on the gray as it is on the brown. Maybe it's the shade of red I use or the brand, not sure. But I have never had a problem with it being more red, thankfully. Since I have to color my hair frequently I often like to experiment with color. If I have to hide the gray I may as well have a little fun with it! LOL

I've gotten lots of compliments on my grey, and I won't start coloring it again, but it's not my favorite hair color ever. But my hair grows so fast that I was needing root touch ups every two weeks to avoid skunk stripe. I went for a while working with its natural curl, but it seemed frizzy and out of control and made me feel old. I finally got it cut in a kind of layered bob, and I keep it well-conditioned and blow it dry so it shines and moves, and I'm happy with it for now.

I’m in the midst of letting it go grey. My stylist has been lightening it up every month (from a dark brown) and underneath in the back not doing the roots. I’m planning in May to cut most of it off so the grey would be almost all of it
I’m also turning 60-and while most people think i look younger than that, I’m ready (maybe, hopefully) to own the grey that goes with 60.
If it looks that bad, I’ll be back in her chair every month again

No regrets here. I get even more compliments on my hair now that it is gray. This! I was still coloring my hair when my DD got married. I cringe when I look at those pictures because my hair was SO dark. I am much more comfortable with it natural. I have a Revlon hairdryer with an oval shaped hairbrush on it that helps me a lot with my curl and waves. Also, good products are essential! Revlon One Step Hairdryer with Oval Brush

I keep my hair very short so by the time I go for a haircut, the color is mostly faded. So, when I get a cut its usually back to the grey roots. I got lazy and didn't color it for a couple of haircuts. That was enough and I'm back to coloring it and probably will until I die.

Most of my friends have decided we would give up eating before we would give up coloring our hair! This is the year we all turn 70. I was a licensed hairdresser from the time I was 16 until I turned 65. It's only right that I keep my hairdresser busy.
My sister who is 11 years younger than I am just let hers go gray, and yeah, that's not happening for me. To each his own.
