And here’s the rest of the story. Another tweet by Jay Feely. “The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking. I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue” I do not get the outrage here. This joke has been around FOREVER. My husband has joked about doing this with our daughters-and we don’t even own a gun! I seriously don’t understand people getting upset over this. It’s a stupid joke. Key word: STUPID. Know that saying, when we know better, we do better? This kind of joke needs to fall into that category. Yes, it's a joke and people think it's funny or have thought it was funny. In today's climate, it's not.

No. Because this joke is dumb and not funny to me. And also that gun is not pointed at that young man.

I do not get the outrage here. This joke has been around FOREVER. It might have been a bit easier to figure out it was a joke if he had SAID it was in the original tweet. And I don't think much of it as a joke, anyway... brandishing a gun anywhere like that, even in 'fun' isn't really all that funny to me. It’s not particularly funny to me either. More of like some kind of shitty southern redneck ideal come to life.

Threatening gun violence is funny now??? Yes, it's an old 'thing' and I have seen it countless times in one form or another. There are t-shirts with sayings on them about 'dating my daughter'. The phrase 'shotgun wedding' used to be popular and joked about. This kind of picture is no longer politically correct. THANK YOU for posting this! This is not a new thing by any stretch of he imagination!

I seriously don’t understand people getting upset over this. It’s a stupid joke. Maybe because joking around with a gun is inappropriate and sets a bad example? Because young, impulsive people might not think it's a big deal to brandish a gun in "playful" situations? And could be less cautious about being sure it's not loaded? I never said it was a good picture. I never said it was funny. But it is an OLD JOKE. Like another person posted it’s not politically correct anymore, but that doesn’t mean it has been completely erased from our culture.

Sean Hannity linked to shell companies that spent $90M on property: report BY MORGAN GSTALTER - 04/22/18 07:27 PM EDT Fox News host Sean Hannity is linked to a group of shell companies that have spent $90 million buying hundreds of homes across the U.S through the help of foreclosures and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Guardian reported Sunday. More than 870 homes in seven different states have been purchased over the past decade, ranging from large mansions to rentals for low-income families, according to the newspaper. For some of the mortgages, Hannity reportedly obtained funding from HUD under the National Housing Act loan program, which was first guaranteed under President Obama’s administration. Secretary Ben Carson’s department recently increased Hannity’s original $17.9 million mortgage for purchases in Georgia by an additional $5 million, records obtained by the Guardian show. Hannity did not disclose his cooperation with HUD when he had Carson on his show last June, the Guardian noted. During that segment, Hannity praised Carson, telling him, “you’ve done a good job.”** The shell companies are registered to the offices of Henssler Financial, a wealth management firm. Hannity has had one of the firm’s principals, Bill Lako, appear on his radio show. Hannity did disclose that he was Henssler’s client and joked that the company took him on as a “charity case.” ** The host, however, has criticized former President Obama in the past for the rate of US foreclosures, saying in 2016 there were “millions more Americans suffering under this president.” Several of Hannity’s properties were bought at a discount after their previous owners defaulted on their mortgages in 2013, Hannity is the hidden owner behind some of these shell companies, a fact his attorney did not dispute in a statement to the newspaper. Each company uses a variation of the same name mixed with the initials of Hannity’s children.Properties are located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Texas and Vermont, the Guardian reported. thehill.com/homenews/media/384366-hannity-hud-shell-companies-reportInteresting to say the least....Benefiting with foreclosures he criticized during Obama's term. Hidden owner? Did not disclose to audience his cooperation with HUD Carson and had him on his show. Wish I knew someone who would add another $5 million loan to my already $17.9 million. Getting so close to incestuous here...........

Perhaps the outraged people on the internet, like me, had never heard of this joke, old or not. Without that context, the photograph really shocked me. I didn't get it at all. Not the gun, not the text, not the facial expressions. I didn't even get that it was SUPPOSED to be funny. It wasn't until I read your post that I understood. Well, sorta' understood.

Don't wrap it in the "politically incorrect" backwash. It's simply tone deaf.

And while it may not be funny or whatever to some, it is not considered offensive in other areas.

"The Star is keeping track of every false claim U.S. President Donald Trump has made since his inauguration on Jan. 20, 2017. Why? Historians say there has never been such a constant liar in the Oval Office. We think dishonesty should be challenged. We think inaccurate information should be corrected. And we think the sheer frequency of Trump’s inaccuracy is a central story of his presidency." Link for reference: projects.thestar.com/donald-trump-fact-check/

It’s not about treating his daughter like property. It use to be an innocent joke of daddy protecting his little girl from boys. I was watching a repeat of AFV this weekend and a dad was trying to get his young daughter age 7ish to swear never to have a boy friend. And she promptly told him she wanted to at least look. On the TV show Castle, Castle was coming up with ways to make Alexis’ dates feel uncomfortable. And one time it involved a gun. It was all done in fun. Unfortunately it’s another sign of the times that what use to be a simple joke is no longer acceptable.

I agree it's tacky and in this day with what is happening in our country with guns it's not appropriate. But this has been a thing for along time in the South. There's even a song. trump...
“Hard to believe Obstructionists May vote against Mike Pompeo for Secretary of State. The Dems will not approve hundreds of good people, including the Ambassador to Germany. They are maxing out the time on approval process for all, never happened before. Need more Republicans!”
Never happened before. President Obama might disagree with that statement.

Now he’s back to this...
“Despite the Democrat inspired laws on Sanctuary Cities and the Border being so bad and one sided, I have instructed the Secretary of Homeland Security not to let these large Caravans of people into our Country. It is a disgrace. We are the only Country in the World so naive! WALL”
“Mexico, whose laws on immigration are very tough, must stop people from going through Mexico and into the U.S. We may make this a condition of the new NAFTA Agreement. Our Country cannot accept what is happening! Also, we must get Wall funding fast.”
It would appear trump has learned a new word “caravan”. “These large Caravans” consist of one annual caravan. The annual caravan stops at our border and the people apply for asylum. Notice how it’s gone from Mexico paying for the wall to “we must get wall funding fast.”
Stupid petty little jerk.

John Harwood...
“Gallup Poll on GOP tax-cut: 39% approve, 52% disapprove”
Oh oh. No wonder I read some Republicans who are running for re-election will be dragging in Hillary.
See. From Greg Sargent..
“This is ominous.
Multiple Republican primary candidates around the country are now mimicking Trump's authoritarianism, with calls to lock up Hillary and attacks on the Mueller investigation.”
The Republicans cannot run on the issues so they do crap like this.
