Over the past 15 years I have put on a lot of weight. When I was skinny, I tucked almost all of my tops in, but now I don't like to tuck anything in. However, today I put on a top & ended up doing it because it was too flow-y and made me look much larger and sloppy if I didn't.
This is only the second time this year that I have done this and the last time I had a cardigan over my top. Today, I forgot to grab one and it would be too warm in the office for the cardigan anyway.
It seems I mostly see on-line pictures of either half-tucked t-shirts or untucked tops. It made me wonder what everyone else prefers.

Depends on the top. I think even when I was thin, I untucked. Then again, I'm not stylish (again, even when I was thin). The fact that you are asking, tells me you care - - so maybe disregard my opinion!

Loosely tucked in at the front, left out at the back. 😉

At my weight I would not tuck in anything. Let it flow because there is no way I'm cramming a shirt down my pants and thinking it looks good.

I'm fairly thin. Sometimes I tuck and sometimes I don't, but I'm never half tucked. And that was a weird sentance!

I don't tuck often...I feel it just emphasizes areas I would rather not emphasize, but I'm also not skinny. I did find this YouTube video helpful and follow some of the tips when I do decide to tuck. How to Tuck & Tie Your Shirts

i don't like to tuck. I don't like the feeling of being confined, or how it starts to look sloppy when you are not retucking often.

You have to be tall and thin to tuck and have it look really good. I never tuck as I am short and even at my thinnest it doesn't look that great.

In the Adore Your Wardrobe course, I learned that short waisted folks like me should never tuck except in certain skirt situations. We also learned not to wear flowy tops because it adds visual weight. If you love the top, maybe you can have it tailored to be more fitted and then leave it untucked

I rarely tuck because it accentuates my muffin top.

I sometimes tuck in my shirt-- okay, not as often right now, because I'm trying to lose the weight I gained- and I think it depends on your shape and what you want to show off. A loose flowy top doesn't show any of YOUR shape underneath it. I have a small waist and am very curvy, so one of those shirts on me would look like a sack, and I would be shapeless. For example, I have a knit polo shirt that is a bit too long and I think it does look sloppy when I wear it untucked, so that one, I tuck in. Plus, then you can see that I actually have a waist. I have some shorter knit tops that I leave untucked, because they're a bit closer to the body and still show my shape even untucked.

I used to when I was thin and it looked good. Now I prefer not to tuck and I’m very fussy about the exact flow of the top-not too loose, not too tight. I know the half tuck is a trend but honestly I don’t get it.

I believed flowy lows would make me look bigger but recently bought two flowy tops and I got huge compliments when I wore each of them. I no longer believe flowy is necessarily bad.

Like keithurbanlovinpea, I'm short-waisted. If I tuck, I look like a doll that's been put together with a too-small upper body. It's not good.

I rarely tuck anymore - or at least not at the waist. I do tuck a button-down into low-rise jeans sometimes. And I do the little part-of-a-tuck occasionally with certain longer tops as it keeps them from looking too blousy/bulky.
Part of it for me is that I am smaller-chested. A severe tuck makes for too straight a line down the front and is less flattering than some softness.

i don't tuck. i noticed on queer eye, when the guys are a little bigger around the middle, they untuck the shirt but then put a more fitted cut bomber style jacket or sweater over top. just an observation.

I don’t like the half tuck. I think it looks sloppy, and like you just ar by getting dressed completely. I usually untuck, but I have one pair of jeans that with a belt looks good tucked. But I won’t wear big and flowy, it just makes me look bigger, and I don’t need the help I’ll only wear flowy if I have a cardigan to go over it, to help tame it

I typically half tuck. Sometimes the side, sometimes the front. This is how I tuck. And to be clear, I'm talking about my clothing. I have a small chest chest and a pretty straight figure. A complete tuck makes me feel like a man, as ridiculous as that sounds.
