BACKSTORY: I had major surgery in January to remove the remaining ocular implant that I've had for 40+ years. It was tiny silicone beads. They became hard and caused immense pain. There were over 100 and many of them traveled to my sinus cavity and fell to the ocular floor over time. They did their job for many years though. My surgeon was also able to reach the BB that I was shot with. No surgeon before her was able to get near it, so I'm impressed. Gone is my dark, intense headpain, and I was left with healing pain for a while...........
This surgery will be to finish me up, hopefully. Building up the lower eyelid and placing the whole look of the socket in the right place. I'm hoping it'll be the last surgery for a long time!!!
Another 6-8 weeks of healing and then I should be ready to be unpatched. It's been such a long journey!! Can't wait to finish up.

Thank you so much, Lexica!! This patch thing is growing old, but I can't complain, right?? (Instead, I got PTSD and a touch of depression--seriously!). Medicare had to be sure that this wasn't "just cosmetic" so they put it off until they understood the whole thing......... Yikes! I'm getting anxious to finish this! The pig donation to fill my lower lid scares me a bit, but we'll see how it all comes out!
ETA: Thank you so much: SweetieBugs, kelleem, Miranda, River!! Much appreciated!

What an ordeal you have been through. I am continually amazed at the trials peas have been through and live with. I hope you will soon remember what it was once like to be without pain!

That's wonderful news!! I'm glad your pain is easing and that you are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. How many surgeries have you had on your eye to this point?

That's wonderful news!! I'm glad your pain is easing and that you are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. How many surgeries have you had on your eye to this point? THANK YOU ALL!! I'm blown away at the "rockin' the pirate look" comments! Gosh, I detest going out with the patch on. I'll have to post pics of the patches my daughter blinged up for me--one gold and one 'diamonds'. peasapie: I think this makes my 34th or 35th eye surgery since 1974!!!! That's nuts right? ? They were mostly all from 1974-1980, and then only 4 in the past few years. I was stable for a good 30 years (which is how it should be!). Most people who get enucleations only get 1 surgery and it lasts for 30 years or so.......... But it is like a breast implant, in that you do need to get it replaced every 30 years (I know that breast implants are more like 10 years). Anyway, I'm hoping that this will do it! Nervous about the pig portions being implanted to make my eyelids, but, who knows? I trust this surgeon! FOR THE PAIN PEAS: It truly is a miracle that the dark, intense pain is truly gone. I am getting sinus pain and headaches from weaning off of various opioids, but that's it. It's so thick and humid out today, but my head is fine! It's amazing, and I thank all of you for being so kind!! I wish that everyone could eliminate their horrible pain!!! xoxo

Your final surgery how exciting!! So happy to hear of your wonderful profress after this previous surgery. Yes I'm sure you're in a bit of turmoil coming off your opioids but that will pass.
