Liar-in-Chief 5/2/2018
“As everybody is aware, the past Administration has long been asking for three hostages to be released from a North Korean Labor camp, but to no avail. Stay tuned!”
Jake Tapper...
“2 out of 3 of these hostages were detained in Trump presidency:
Tony Kim (aka Kim Sang-duk) detained 22 April 2017.
Kim Hak-song detained 6 May 2017.
An obvious and demonstrable lie in a tweet that remains up, a monument to how much President Trump doesn't care about truth.”

The Hill... “Carson says raising rent for those on low-income housing assistance will "incentivize people" to get on their feet hill.cm/FLKWfO1” Typical Republican response. I think it will just lead to an increase in he homeless population. Asshole. He needs to read some actual studies with data. And he needs to know there are far more stories of the working poor doing whatever they can to make ends meet vs the rare actual welfare queen.

LOLGOP @lolgop Because he was born rich, Jared Kushner has been able to update his financial disclosures more than 40 times. Because you were poor, Republicans would take away your food stamps or health insurance if your forms are wrong once. Thank you for that!! They actually do take away things as we move on... think Carson.. For rent, 35% of GROSS income is better than 30% of adjusted income. He needs to read some actual studies with data. And he needs to know there are far more stories of the working poor doing whatever they can to make ends meet vs the rare actual welfare queen. SO SO true!

Now we're getting somewhere!!!
I'm guessing this played into their decision to slide their assets/ip into a new company. Try to avoid disclosure and, if not successful there, at least avoid the class action suits. I hope they attach to the Mercers personally.
"The company has claimed to have up to 7,000 data points on 240 million Americans, and if it refuses to comply with Carroll’s request or can be shown to have misused data, it could open itself up to class action from the entire US electorate – a fact that Dehaye suggests may have contributed to its decision this week to fold."

Totally snarky article on cnn today about our esteemed President and all his best words used at the NRA Rally. www.cnn.com/2018/05/04/politics/donald-trump-speech-nra/index.htmlHow in the world can people seriously claim that he is going to go down as the best president ever? I get people have different political views, I get that the political divide is wide, but I just can’t wrap my head around anyone thinking he is a good president. They are touting all the magnificent things he has done, and I just don’t understand what they are talking about. Ignoring the fact that he seems incapable of constructing a complete and coherent sentence and that he has an unhealthy obsession with false poll numbers and the election results and that he cannot tell the truth or keep his stories straight what do they see they we don’t? The people on the conservative thread are absolutely convinced there is a witch hunt going on, do they not realize that if Trump had nothing to hide he would stop crying fake news and sit down and talk to Mueller? That if he had nothing to hide he would welcome an investigation by a registered republican? I want to ask on the thread how many really believe that Trump is completely innocent of any wrong doing and why they think he is lying so much if he is has nothing to hide. I know there are no answers, I just am having a really hard time now accepting that people in my life who I consider intelligent and kind people are so deluded when it comes to this man. I have several people close to me who are very socially progressive (support marriage equality and a woman’s right to choose, etc) but support Trump and everyday it is getting harder and harder to have civil discussions about anything other then superficial topics.

"He’s empowering these hate filled people to act and it’s only getting worse".
These things have gone on forever. However dt has made it possible for people to yell it from the rooftops........ There is little to stop them, but law enforcement is trying. The man in the video has been identified by people who saw the video, so someone rolled on him, friend of foe, who knows!
This behavior has never been acceptable in my world, but others truly need to step in and good people are doing better.

I am very concerned that IF there are charges brought with guilty decisions how are all his followers going to understand, or will we all, them included continue, to be at some kind of war within our country!?!? Either way will it be 'I told you so!!" form either side. Someone needs to unite us and soon!

I'm going to repeat my recommendation for the Opening Arguments podcast. Every Stormy Daniels development is discussed from a legal point of view. They have an almost-weekly sequence called Yodel Mountain in which they discuss how high up the impeachment mountain the Mueller investigation is getting, what everything means and, again, focusing on the legal aspect of it. Playing the moral card is just fake news here. Smokescreen (albeit exposing the hypocrites much to my delight). I am not a US citizen or resident but absolutely love the legal analysis of current US affairs this podcast does. It's been a personal favourite since it started airing. Top notch stuff. Anyone interested in how Stormy Daniels might play a key role in a potential impeachment of Trump should at least go back to episode 154: Stormy Daniels is a legal genius. More recent episodes discuss Cohen, Trump's new legal representation, etc. Fascinating and way better analysed than most media outlets. Disclaimer: the two hosts are on the liberal/left wing side BUT discuss things fairly and point out wrongdoings on both sides of the political spectrum.

So have we discussed the new law in Iowa that bans all abortions after six weeks?
I wouldn’t have expected that of Iowa. Nebraska or South Dakota, sure, but Iowa used to be fairly moderate. What happened there?
I wonder if the taxpayers of Iowa are prepared to pay for the inevitable legal battle.

1. You just never know who’s going to pop up in the Mueller investigation.
2. Tweet rant coming?

Somebody will challenge this in court with the hope, by abortion foes, it makes its way to the Supreme Court where, with a very right leaning Court, Roe v Wade will be overturned. That is why States continue to pass these restrictive abortion laws so any challenges may make their way to the Supreme Court. Especially with a right leaning Court. And if liberals are up in arms about this, it’s the fault of those liberals who sat out the last election. Hillary lost the election by 100,000 votes spread across 3 states. A win by Hillary would have pushed the Court left. Once again elections have consequences. Sometimes it more important to vote for a candidate for what they can do or stop instead not voting for them because you can’t see them as your BFF.

"Trump is the Enron of presidents." Always thought they were the smartest guys in the room. Until the shit came to the surface and people looked into the putrid abyss.

So people on twitter are speculating that Trump's medical records were stolen by his hacks because there is proof in there that Trump may be treated for syphilis.
Hmmm ....late stage syphilis causes mental defects and rage, plus dementia.....coincidence?

I was not surprised. My mom loves in Iowa and according to her, the current government is doing anything in their power to hurt democrats. Whether that means cutting funding to the universities that they see as being too liberal, to gun and abortion laws, to changes in education that hurt teachers and ultimately the population as a whole. They did seem to be more progressive in social policies for awhile. I’m not sure what changed the tide. But from what I see and hear from my family, trump has let many feel free to let out their inner deplorable.

Yeah, but then there are states like NY who go the opposite direction and mandate not only voluntary abortion coverage, but mandate coverage in network at 100% no deductible, no copay. While I agree I wouldn't be surprised to see a SC challenge from states enacting abortion restrictive laws like this, I worry less about an overturn attempt actually being successful when I see the counter balance in other states.

I'm just thinking that as long as there are states also doing stuff that backs Roe vs Wade, they'd fight any supreme court challenge against it.

linkThe Guardian.... “Revealed: Trump team hired spy firm for ‘dirty ops’ on Iran arms deal”
“Israeli agency told to find incriminating material on Obama diplomats who negotiated deal with Tehran” From the article... “Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a “dirty ops” campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observer can reveal. People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to “get dirt” on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal. In case you missed it, this was done AFTER trump took office. And it was done against American Citizens. The extraordinary revelations come days before Trump’s 12 May deadline to either scrap or continue to abide by the international deal limiting Iran’s nuclear programme. Jack Straw, who as foreign secretary was involved in earlier efforts to restrict Iranian weapons, said: “ These are extraordinary and appalling allegations but which also illustrate a high level of desperation by Trump and [the Israeli prime minister] Benjamin Netanyahu, not so much to discredit the deal but to undermine those around it.” One former high-ranking British diplomat with wide experience of negotiating international peace agreements, requesting anonymity, said: “It’s bloody outrageous to do this. The whole point of negotiations is to not play dirty tricks like this.” Sources said that officials linked to Trump’s team contacted investigators days after Trump visited Tel Aviv a year ago, his first foreign tour as US president. Trump promised Netanyahu that Iran would never have nuclear weapons and suggested that the Iranians thought they could “do what they want” since negotiating the nuclear deal in 2015. A source with details of the “dirty tricks campaign” said: “ The idea was that people acting for Trump would discredit those who were pivotal in selling the deal, making it easier to pull out of it.”According to incendiary documents seen by the Observer, investigators contracted by the private intelligence agency were told to dig into the personal lives and political careers of Rhodes, a former deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, and Kahl, a national security adviser to the former vice-president Joe Biden. Among other things they were looking at personal relationships, any involvement with Iran-friendly lobbyists, and if they had benefited personally or politically from the peace deal.Investigators were also apparently told to contact prominent Iranian Americans as well as pro-deal journalists – from the New York Times, MSNBC television, the Atlantic, Vox website and Haaretz, the Israeli newspaper among others – who had frequent contact with Rhodes and Kahl in an attempt to establish whether they had violated any protocols by sharing sensitive intelligence. They are believed to have looked at comments made by Rhodes in a 2016 New York Times profile in which he admitted relying on inexperienced reporters to create an “echo chamber” that helped sway public opinion to secure the deal. It is also understood that the smear campaign wanted to establish if Rhodes was among those who backed a request by Susan Rice, Obama’s final national security adviser, to unmask the identities of Trump transition officials caught up in the surveillance of foreign targets. Although sources have confirmed that contact and an initial plan of attack was provided to private investigators by representatives of Trump, it is not clear how much work was actually undertaken, for how long or what became of any material unearthed. Neither is it known if the black ops constituted only a strand of a wider Trump-Netanyahu collaboration to undermine the deal or if investigators targeted other individuals such as John Kerry, the lead American signatory to the deal. Both Rhodes and Kahl said they had no idea of the campaign against them. Rhodes said: “I was not aware, though sadly am not surprised. I would say that digging up dirt on someone for carrying out their professional responsibilities in their positions as White House officials is a chillingly authoritarian thing to do.” A spokesman for the White House’s national security council offered “no comment” when approached. However, the revelations are not the first time that claims of “dirty tricks” have been aimed at the Trump camp. Special counsel Robert Mueller is leading an investigation into apparent attempts by Trump’s inner-circle to dig up damaging information on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.” trump is draining the swamp alright but he’s changing it into a cesspool and he’s the biggest piece of shit in it.

“White House is prepping talking points to undermine DAG Rosenstein's credibility – similar to the smear campaign Trump demanded senior WH aides orchestrate last Jun against FBI officials McCabe, Baker & Rybicki, who are all now gone from the @fbi. #Maddow cnn.it/2GSSmWp”
Again, if trump has nothing to hide why is he doing shit like this?
