More from Walter Shaub about the Haspel hearing..
“Sen. Jack Reed asks Gina Haspel if she thinks it would be wrong for an enemy to waterboard a CIA agent. She refuses to answer, saying terrorists don't follow laws & civilized nations don't do what they do. She refuses to answer question highlighting that U.S. waterboarded people.”
&
“Gina Haspel seems to feel Senate questions she doesn't like are optional. After all, why should an agency that tortures people be accountable to the representatives of the citizens of this country?”
&
“Senator Tom Cotton repeatedly disrupts the hearing.”
This is better than watching it live on tv. Otherwise, I practice a trait I share with trump, yelling at the TV. 😀

The Hill... “Iranian supreme leader: Trump told "more than 10 lies" in his speech on withdrawing from nuclear deal hill.cm/v7YQig6” Normally you would discard what someone like this said about your US President. But in this case, we know he’s right. How sick is that? 🚫 #MAGA I think he is being generous stopping at 10. Not that I trust him either but.... I think you may be right. Someone fact checked the speech and I think the number was closer to 30.

Haspel: "I do not believe the President would ask me to do that." twitter.com/realdonaldtrum…”

“What do you think of water boarding the Boston killer sometime prior to allowing our doctors to make him well? I suspect he may talk!”

After working for years in commercial insurance I knew exactly what company it was. But I was surprised to see Chubb writing these policies.
From the Hill...
“UK insurance company terminates programs available through NRA hill.cm/qkGB5XF”
From the article...
Lloyd's of London is terminating all insurance made available through the National Rifle Association (NRA) of America, Reuters reported Wednesday.
The NRA's Carry Guard insurance program was found to have unlawfully provided insurance "to gun owners for acts of intentional wrongdoing" earlier this week in New York.
Insurance Journal reported that the New York Department of Financial Services slapped insurance company Chubb and its subsidiarily Illinois Union Insurance Company with a $1.3 million fine on Monday. That resulted in Chubb's withdrawal from underwriting NRA-branded insurance.
Lloyd's announced Wednesday that it would also cut ties with the pro-gun group.
The Lloyd's Corporation has given very careful consideration as to whether syndicates at Lloyd's should continue to insure programs offered, marketed, endorsed or otherwise made available through the National Rifle Association of America," a Lloyd's spokesman said.
Underwriters are terminating any existing programs and will not enter into new ones, the spokesman told Reuters.
The Carry Guard program provided coverage throughout criminal proceedings against the policyholder or one of their family members, Insurance Journal reported.
"NRA Carry Guard teaches you how to avoid and de-escalate conflict situations," the website reads. "But should you ever have to defend your life, you could face serious criminal or civil liability - even when you are completely innocent. In those devastating circumstances, NRA Carry Guard provides access to important resources."

So I was curious about this Carry Guard Insurance offered by the NRA and found this from Bloomberg...
NRA Sues Insurance Broker Behind ‘Carry Guard’
“The National Rifle Association is suing Lockton Cos., alleging the insurance broker breached its contract with the firearms lobbying group. Lockton administered the NRA’s Carry Guard insurance program, which was advertised as the nation’s “most complete self-defense membership program.”
Following a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, which sparked a backlash against the NRA and companies with which it conducts business, Lockton said it would discontinue its NRA-endorsed insurance programs. Carry Guard was criticized by gun control advocates as “murder insurance.”
Last week, Lockton was fined $7 million for unlawfully providing liability coverage to gun owners in the event they were charged with a crime involving their firearms, according to the New York Department of Financial Services.
The NRA suit, filed in the Eastern District of Virginia, alleges the New York investigation was “orchestrated” by the gun control organization Everytown for Gun Safety. Lockton and the NRA received subpoenas related to the investigation in October of last year. Everytown for Gun Safety did not respond to a request for comment.
“In the face of this politically motivated coercion, Lockton should have honored its fiduciary obligations and longstanding business relationship with the NRA and taken full responsibility for any compliance related concerns,” the complaint stated, referring to the New York investigation. “Simply put, Lockton ceased to protect the NRA and its interests.”
The suit also alleges that Lockton secretly communicated with insurance underwriters, which went on to end relationships with the NRA. Lockton’s actions, as alleged by the NRA, cost the Second Amendment group “tens of millions of dollars in damages.”
Lockton said it doesn’t comment on pending litigation, and the New York Department of Financial Services declined to comment.
“The NRA will take appropriate steps to make sure law-abiding gun owners in New York and across the country have access to the insurance coverage they need,” William A. Brewer III, who is representing the NRA in this litigation, told Bloomberg News. “Such actions unduly burden the free market system and impact law-abiding members of the NRA.”
I like “Lockton “secretly” communicated with Insurance underwriters”. I spent hours “communicating “ with underwriters about my accounts and there was nothing secret about it.
I read the NRA’s sell for this insurance and personally I think Chubb and Lloyd’s were nuts writing the coverage in the first place.

AT&T confirmed Tuesday that it paid President Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen for “insights” on the Trump administration. AT&T said in a statement obtained by The Hill that Cohen's company "was one of several firms we engaged in early 2017 to provide insights into understanding the new administration." why did any company need to pay to get 'insights' into the Trump administration?? It was pretty OBVIOUS what kind of shit-show Presidency it was going to be, right from the beginning!

linkThe Hill... “Trump threatens to remove news networks' press credentials over negative coverage” From the article... “President Trump early Wednesday suggested taking away news networks' press credentials over "negative" coverage. "The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake)," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?" I don’t care what side you are on, talk like this from a United States President should be unacceptable. I’m just getting so tired of all his lies. See..he doesn't know that negative DOES NOT EQUAL FAKE. He just can't handle the negative. His scociopathic brain does not compute. He totally and utterly be ieves he is NEVER WRONG.

Boeing is losing a $17 billion contract to deliver 80 aircraft to Iran Air, according to The Washington Post, which added that deliveries were expected to be completed by 2025. That is in addition to another 30-airplane agreement between Boeing and Iran's Aseman Airlines for $3 billion, the newspaper said. "We will consult with the U.S. Government on next steps. As we have throughout this process, we'll continue to follow the U.S. Government's lead," Boeing Vice President Gordon Johndroe said in a statement, according to the Post. “ Is THIS how you make America great again?

I am not sure if it is a threat, but I can tell you that Germany's politicians are seriously unimpressed. Germans willing to listen, but . . . From the Article: Grenell’s tweet was met with immediate scorn from the German political establishment. Wolfgang Ischinger, German ambassador to Washington from 2001 to 2006, responded on Twitter by giving "advice" of his own. “Germans are willing to listen, but will resist taking instructions,” he wrote. “Resist taking instructions” lol ha ha ha ha ha they are being kind with that remark. Why does everyone else have so much tact with Trump? I admire this trait. I have no tact with people who have shown me they are jerks etc. hmmm. Trying to avoid World War III? ETA unlike us, who apparently can't be bothered.

AT&T has revised their "contribution" up to $600,000. I've been counting the amount these companies have been paying to Cohen, and I'm already up to 4.5 million. Yet Cohen had to take out a loan to reimburse Trump for the Stormy porn hush money, so the money sure didn't go to him. Hmmm, I wonder where it went. The bribery just flows along in this administration. Like a river.

On another sort-of related note, during the MSNBC discussion about 'missing' money, I did hear Chris Hayes bring up the millions of unaccounted dollars left over from the Inauguration fund. We'll never find out where that went, either. There's so many scandals and money-related irregularities, it's tough to keep them all straight.

"Novartis said it hired Cohen in February 2017 as part of a one-year contract for consulting services. The company said it paid Cohen $100,000 per month, for a total of $1.2 million.
"With the recent change in administration, Novartis believed that Michael Cohen could advise the company as to how the Trump administration might approach certain US healthcare policy matters, including the Affordable Care Act," the company said." "In March 2017, Novartis had its first meeting with Michael Cohen under this agreement."
Novartis said the meeting led the company to conclude that "Michael Cohen and Essential Consultants would be unable to provide the services that Novartis had anticipated related to US healthcare policy matters and the decision was taken not to engage further." But the contract could not be terminated, so the payments to Cohen continued until February 2018, Novartis said.
--------------------------------------
Again- how much 'advising' would it really take to get an idea about how the Trump administration would approach US healthcare policy matters?!? I'm thinking a bit, fat, ZERO. Just look at the Republican congress's track record, and Trump's speeches.
Did companies EVER pay for air-quote 'consulting' air-quote with previous administrations?!?

I just heard it reported on the BBC evening news. They didn't actually play him saying it, just reported that he had, but still - the BBC is not prone to parody on its news programs. If I recall correctly, trump said this about two week ago at either his rally in Michigan or at the NRA convention, shortly after the letters from his Republican syncopates went out recommending him for the prize. They felt that since he had allegedly gotten the Koreans talking, that he was entitled, but talking and actual results are two different things.

another quote from the Cohen / Novartis article: a spokesperson for the company said: “With a new administration coming in, basically, all the traditional contacts disappeared and they were all new players,” the employee told the publication. “We were trying to find an inroad into the administration. Cohen promised access to not just Trump, but also the circle around him. It was almost as if we were hiring him as a lobbyist.” ^^^ yeah, except he didn't have to follow all those pesky lobbyist rules!! 'cause who wants to follow the rules, after all?!?

The Hill...
“President Trump on Wednesday inaccurately claimed numerous times that military personnel had not received a pay raise in 10 years, though the Pentagon has enacted raises every year for the past decade.
"We just approved $700 billion for our military so we're going to be having the best equipment ever and next year $716 billion. ... That also includes raises for our military. First time in 10 years," Trump said while hosting military mothers and spouses at the White House.
Trump was referring to the fiscal 2018 defense spending bill known as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), signed by Trump earlier this year, that included a 2.4-percent pay increase for troops.”
Does he have to lie about EVERYTHING?
