Think Progress...
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley walked out of a Security Council meeting on Tuesday when the Palestinian envoy began to speak, just hours after she praised Israel for acting with “restraint” in handling the protests in Gaza.
The Security Council was holding an emergency meeting to discuss the violence in Gaza. Israeli forces killed at least 62 Palestinians protesting along the border fence on Monday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza. That number included several children, one of whom was just 8 months old. More than 3,100 others were wounded.
Haley told the Security Council that Hamas, with the help of Iran, was to blame for the violence and pointed to Molotov cocktails being flown into Israel via kites.
I ask my colleagues here in the Security Council: who among us would accept this type of activity on your border?” she said. “No one would. No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has.”
Haley did not mention the Israeli soldiers and snipers firing at the Palestinian protesters or the death toll from Monday. Less than two later, when Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour began to speak, she walked out of the meeting.
The Trump administration has repeatedly back Israel’s response to the protests on Monday, which created the highest death toll on a single day since 2014.
As Israeli forces dropped drones with tear gas and shot at Palestinian protesters in Gaza on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner called the protesters “part of the problem and not part of the solution.” Kushner’s family has longtime ties to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and previously failed to disclose that he once led a group that funded West Bank settlements, which are illegal under international law.
Hours after Kushner’s speech, White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah also claimed that the Palestinian deaths on Monday were “an unfortunate propaganda attempt” by Hamas.
The United States unveiled its new embassy in Jerusalem on Monday, the same day as Israel’s independence day, after having moved its location from Tel Aviv. The move has been roundly condemned by Palestinian leadership and other world leaders, as East Jerusalem — under Israeli occupation since 1967 — has been recognized as the capital of a future Palestinian state by the international community.
But the protests in Gaza were about more than the embassy move. Many of those involved were participating in the “March of Return” protests, which began on March 30, and involved tens of thousands of Palestinians marching to the Gaza border fence to demand the right to return to family homes lost in 1948.
“Our hardships induced this scream for life. The March of Return is a scream for life so that we may leave the walls of our prison,” Ahmad Abu Artema, the 33-year-old main organizer of the March of Return, told CNN. “Why would we die here in silence? We want our message to reach the world. We want to say to the world, ‘Here there is a people. A people searching for a life of dignity, human rights and freedom.'”
That was a very childish act by Haley. This is not going to end well and proves once again the West doesn't understand The Middle East.

No, not condescending at all! I appreciate your insight. I hope to get to where you guys are one day. I feel like today there was a tiny light that shined through the crack of the door. LOL, not to take away your hope but on this issue we are not anything to aspire too ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) It's been a very slow process and he often automatically reverts back to his prior thinking and his sources have to be proven wrong again and again. I seems to me like a self-protection thing, it is really hard for him to admit even to himself, to being bamboozled. To work with your great analogy, I have to keep shoving my foot in the door (with facts) or his mind keeps slamming it closed. Good gravy. It's also the Texas Man Code. Conservatism is manly; liberalism is for women and sissies. It's very, very hard to overcome that mindset. I could have written your posts here word for word.

And fortunately, the cheaters who were gerrymandering the districts in several states he narrowly won were caught and forced to fix it, so the playing field is now fair and not fake.

Regarding the article @fred posted, this paragraph is exactly what Democrats MUST do:
Finally — and this is critical — never stop telling voters how Republicans are screwing them over.
They need to hammer that home.

Too many in the GOP are brainwashed and at the sound of their "trigger words": "family values", "culture of life", "traditional values" (basically anything that translates to only white Christian males in positions of most power), they will reflexively pull the lever for the GOP.
We must stop trying to reach them. We must focus on those who don't use their vote at all but who understand that hypocrisy, greed, ignorance and lack of caring for "the least of our brothers (and sisters)" is not in any way, shape or form "family values" or any values worth holding.

I feel that way too—the republicans are saying it being a hot mess and “we’re not listening” but I think I He polls are saying differently. And despite the bucket loads of money republicans are throwing into these “smaller” elections (they KNOW they matter!)

The SO CALLED “family values” the republicans hold— I’ll pass today and twice on Sunday. What their battle cries are all about are opposite of any church teachings I’ve ever known—they talk a good game “do as I say, not as I do” but their motto is —“just don’t get caught”

linkBBC News... North Korea threatens to cancel Trump summit Highlights from article. “The highly anticipated meeting between Mr Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un is due to take place on 12 June. But in an angry statement, North Korea's vice-foreign minister accused the US of making reckless statements and of harbouring sinister intentions. He pointed the finger squarely at US National Security Adviser John Bolton. "We do not hide our feeling of repugnance towards him," Kim Kye-gwan said.” & “What does North Korea's statement say? Mr Kim's statement, carried by state media, said that if the US "corners us and unilaterally demands we give up nuclear weapons we will no longer have an interest in talks" and "will have to reconsider" attending the 12 June summit in Singapore. He said North Korea did have "high hopes" but that it was "very unfortunate that the US is provoking us ahead of the summit by spitting out ludicrous statements". & “Kim Kye-gwan said in his statement that this was "not an expression of intention to address the issue through dialogue". "It is essentially a manifestation of awfully sinister moves to impose on our dignified state the destiny of Libya or Iraq which had been collapsed due to yielding the whole of their countries to big powers. "We do not hide our feeling of repugnance towards [Bolton]." Mr Kim also warns Mr Trump that if he "follows in the footsteps of his predecessors" - refusing to engage with North Korea unless it gives up its nuclear weapons - "he will be recorded as more tragic and unsuccessful president than his predecessors, far from his initial ambition to make unprecedented success". Gee I see Bolton is busy making friends and influencing people. Maybe THIS is how they are MAGA by bringing in only the best people to work on world issues.

So the Senate Intelligence Committee released transcripts of its Russia hearing. Included is don jr’s testimony.
Lachlan Markay..
“4:04 PM: Emin Agalarov calls Don Jr. to discuss Veselnitskaya meeting 4:27: Don. Jr has a four minute call with someone at a blocked number 4:31: Don Jr. calls back Agalarov
He told Senate investigators he didn't remember who was on that second call”
Its answers like this that make you doubt everything they say.

for such a young man, Don Jr. has some SERIOUS memory problems, after hearing about all of the "I don't remember" and "I don't recall" answers in his testimony- perhaps he should see his doctor. (and I like to think Mueller already has those phone records, and that it will be proved eventually that he DID call DT Sr. Because why wouldn't he?!? Don Jr. and Eric don't do ANYthing without DT's stamp of approval.) ---------------------------------------------- I heard Adam Schiff talking this morning on Progressive radio- they're going to be introducing a piece of legislation (not that it will go anywhere, but...) to FORCE the Trump administration to release records that show just HOW MUCH $$$ has been paid by the administration ( OUR $$$) to the Trump organization under the guise of 'expenses' such as the >$150,000 that the Secret Service has had to pay to rent golf carts when protecting the President at Mar A Lago, etc. So it will be crystal-clear just how much $$ Trump is lining his own pockets with at the expense of the American people, liberals and conservatives alike. If conservative citizens can ignore THAT evidence then it truly IS 'just for the [awful, reprehensible] policies' and fiscal conservatism- as well as a sense of right and wrong- are well and truly dead.)

Stuff like this drives me nuts.
From San Francisco ABC News...
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A small group of nurses, with the support of their union, is renewing an effort to have the Zuckerberg name removed from San Francisco General Hospital.
They staged a protest this past weekend.
In 2015 Zuckerberg and his wife gave $75 million to the city to help with the rebuild of the century old hospital and establish a new trauma center. In exchange, their name is on the building.
At the time some nurses felt like the name change undercut the long, proud history of the hospital and confuses patients. Now the nurses say given the recent data breaches and privacy scandals, they worry about patient info and say that is concerning patients.
The hospital spokesperson sent a statement saying they're committed to maintaining patient privacy.
Some want San Francisco voters to decide whether to keep the Zuckerberg name.
Registered nurse Sasha Cuttler believes the hospital's connection to Zuckerberg reinforces patient's fears about possible data breaches and decided to protest by covering the name with blue tape.
Cuttler says, "The patients are afraid. I know people who go to the doctor and they're afraid to tell the doctor what's going on because they don't know who is going to get that information."
Nursing assistant Mike Dingle believes in addition to the privacy concerns, the Zuckerberg name clouds the legacy of the 146-year-old facility. "It's all the more reason to get it off of here, so we can get our identity back as the city and county's public hospital," Dingle said.“
Note the money helped rebuild the old hospital and establish a trauma center. If these nurses have a problem with the Zuckerberg name on the hospital then fine, give the couple back the money. Of course since the money is already spent, big cuts to the hospital’s budget are going to have to be made. So are these nurses willing to chip in their salaries to help come up with the $75M? Just to get the Zuckerberg name off the hospital?
And only stupid people would believe their doctors are going to share their medical condition on Facebook or with Facebook.
As far as getting the identity back, they should celebrate the fact they have a new hospital with a trauma center that takes care of stupid people who think their medical condition will be shared with Facebook.

"103!
That's the number of Times Donald Trump Jr. said that he didn't recall during his testimony in front of The Senate Judiciary Committee regarding the Trump Tower meeting on June 9.
103 Freaking Times!"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
oh, but he was SO quick to say "I answered EVERY QUESTION they asked me." And to point out that he testified for five, whole, long hours. Answering the questions kinda implies you gave them more information than 'I don't recall,' you dumb-$hit.

fred.. I agree protesting the zukerberg name is nutty.. but in SF.. there is a protest for everything. I am happy zuckerberg gave the money.. SF general is too important to all of us. (zuckerberg's wife worked/works at this hospital). I am happy Benioff of Salesforce gave tons of money to build new pediatric hospital.. I think it must be a small group of nurses.
