it is really hard for him to admit even to himself, to being bamboozled. To work with your great analogy, I have to keep shoving my foot in the door (with facts) or his mind keeps slamming it closed. my boyfriend and I aren't even quite at that point yet... but I think (hope, really) that somewhere he DOES have inklings of the bamboozling that's been going on. He's always considered himself a 'Reagan' Republican, and I wish, wish, WISH that he would admit this Republican party bears NO resemblance to that. But since we're both VERY stubborn, I doubt that will be happening anytime soon. (as a middle aged white guy who doesn't handle change well, he definitely feels the 'left behind' kind of thing-- as far as seeing the 'conservative Christian' way of life he remembers disappearing- and unfortunately, I think the conservative radio he listens to just plays on those fears and exacerbates that feeling.) Oh it bears zero resemblance, I was a Reagan supporter. Now with my rose colored glasses ripped completely off I know Reagan was far from perfect. However, insert any current bizarre happening into this sentance “Can you imagine Reagan doing/saying XYZ” Like this... “can you imagine Reagan trading our national cyber security for a loan to his hotel company” “Can you imagine Reagan making fun of a former POW?” Also try “can you imagine 1980’s Republicans allowing Reagan to retain ownership of a company then charge the taxpayers for use of its facilities” “ can you imagine 1980’s Republicans allowing Patti Davis or Ron jr to act as ambassadors?” Seriously I Know who/what Trump is and always has been HE is not surprising me. The REPUBLICANS ( at least most of them ) have surprised me. I can not believe the fiscal irresponsibility they keep allowing over & over. Baffles me really

Jake Tapper... “Rex Tillerson to graduating cadets at VMI: “If our leaders seek to conceal the truth, or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no long grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom.” Was that a slam at his former boss??? i sure hope so

The Washington PostFrom the Washington Post.. “ 7 big things we just learned from the Trump Tower meeting testimony”
To me the most interesting thing from the “7 big things” are Manafort’s notes. “Bill browder Offshore - Cyprus 133m shares Companies Not invest - loan Value in Cyprus as inter Illici Active sponsors of RNC Browder hired Joanna Glover Tied into CheneyRussian adoption by American families” Cheney? Of course Cheney would have his finger in this. He was “president” when we went into Iraq. He is evil and knows how this all works and how to make massive profits from war. Cheney & Halliburton ripped off the tax payers for billions. Bushes also collected billions through the Carlyle Group. All it cost us was thousands of our enlisted kid's lives. But what the hell it was worth it to line the pockets of Cheney/Bushes. *sarcasm* It was all based on lies about weapons of mass destruction and who really brought down the Twin Towers. In case anyone has forgotten it was the Saudis who flew the planes into those buildings. But they were protected by the Bushes. Now here we are again. Lies that Americans are buying. Trump and his ilk will make billions and billions then walk off with their money leaving the next several generations of Americans to pay it off. We are a stupid populace to put up with this crap.

fred.. I agree protesting the zukerberg name is nutty.. but in SF.. there is a protest for everything. I am happy zuckerberg gave the money.. SF general is too important to all of us. (zuckerberg's wife worked/works at this hospital). I am happy Benioff of Salesforce gave tons of money to build new pediatric hospital.. I think it must be a small group of nurses. I am sorta torn. I get that the privacy concerns are nutty. What I struggle with is that if I had that kind of $ and I was donating it to a hospital to modernize the facility & build a trauma centre, I'd do it because it's the morally correct thing to do - not because I want to get my name on a building. Zuckerberg should've given the money anonymously, if necessary... either way, he should've refused to have his name on the building. You have to do the right thing for the right reason.

That's just dumb. People/foundations donate money to create new wings of hospitals or even new hospitals all the time, and it is pretty much a given that it will be named after them. Why should he refuse to have his name on the building? I doubt he did it just so he could have his name on the building, but that is part of it. I also think it is stupid to remove it; just because facebook had data breaches doesn't mean that hospital will just because his name is on it. How dumb that anyone thinks that.

People complain all the time how the rich shouldn’t have all that money. Just look at their name on the building or wing as a reminder that some of the very rich really do put their money to good use. That is unless your name is trump. And that’s a whole other subject as trump is in a class all his own when it comes to slapping his name on stuff.

Good Lord. "Animals" was in reference to MS-13. I know so many love the Lawrence O'Donnell/Joy Reid/Rachel Maddow/MSNBC narrative that MS-13 is no big deal, they're just good boys that want a better life, they come here to work those jobs no American wants, blah blah blah. I'm sure many also love they don't use guns, yet ignore they use machetes to hack up their victims, and y'all ignore the fact they recruit young kids.
He didn't say ALL immigrants are animals. Give the entire story and context. How disingenuous.

These three tweets from trump are exactly why he should have never been elected president.
“Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History...and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction. The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money!”
“Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI “SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN EMBEDDED INFORMANT.” Andrew McCarthy says, “There’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign.” If so, this is bigger than Watergate!”
“Despite the disgusting, illegal and unwarranted Witch Hunt, we have had the most successful first 17 month Administration in U.S. history - by far! Sorry to the Fake News Media and “Haters,” but that’s the way it is!”

hmmm, that's weird. I watch lots of MSNBC, and I've never heard any of their people be dismissive of the brutality and violence of MS-13. I must be watching at the wrong hours or something.

Kind of like Fox News and other right wing media outlet took Hillary’s “deplorable” comment out of context and made it something it wasn’t. And all this time later the right likes to drag out that taken out of context quote to use it against liberals. How disingenuous. But here’s the funny thing. While it appears some are taking trump’s animal comment out of context there is this belief that trump is talking about all undocumented folks that come across our southern border. And that belief is based on his own words when he announced he was running for president. From trump’s speech when he announced he was running for president at trump tower... “Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

trump’s announcement speechI'm not the one posting tweets, retweets, copying and pasting quotes, etc. that don't give the entire context and full statements. I agree there was more to the "deplorable" comment by Clinton and maintain, again, that context and full statements matter, whether it's coming from a major news outlet or being shared here. When only the juicy stuff (and what's juicy depends on which "side" people are on) gets shared, it becomes disingenuous.
I don't have time to copy and paste articles, or YouTube videos, with the various MSNBC comments. Y'all will have to do that yourselves. They do exist, and they're out there if you're interested.
As for Trump's comments during that speech, what am I to say? Not everybody coming here has good intentions and in my opinion, when they come here and stay illegally, they're starting off on the wrong foot.

hmmm, that's weird. I watch lots of MSNBC, and I've never heard any of their people be dismissive of the brutality and violence of MS-13. I must be watching at the wrong hours or something. Because it never happened. Liberals (and even some conservatives) certainly do make the point that many undocumented immigrants are coming here to work those jobs no American wants. But we're not the ones conflating MS-13 with ALL undocumented immigrants. Trump's and the GOP's history of words about undocumented immigrants is sufficient context to assume the worst about any comment he makes. It's unfortunately a long, well-documented history of nasty comments, insinuations and actions against the undocumented. Anybody who says "well, what he really meant" or "you're taking that out of context" when Trump starts talking about Hispanic immigrants has to completely ignore this history.
