Do you believe if you keep thinking about something you should try it? I keep thinking about shaving my head. Going super short didn't stop the curiosity. If I don't do it will I always wonder what the experience would be been like and regret it? I'm really considering, like making the appointment in the next 2 weeks kind of considering. Timing is perfect. Summer. No major events until August so I could grow a pixie by then. I'm not at all concerned with the growing out process. I am completely interested in the process of being myself without hair to hide behind, challenging typical standards of being 'feminine', and not using a curling iron for a few months. It could also be cool to see what texture and color my hair grows back. Have I lost my mind? Should I go for it? Would you ever do it? UPDATE- I started to chicken out so i went today!

If you're that sure of it I say go for it! But have a great wig readily available, at least selected and money put away for, just in case it ends up being more than you can handle. It could be totally liberating, or make you feel very vulnerable and insecure.

No I wouldn’t do it unless I had cancer. I am growing my hair at the moment so I am hoping it will grow another 4 inches. Then it’s at its maximum length.
Good luck! You’ Have to show us all you new look!

Like a buzz or completely bald? Beware you lose a lot of heat through your head.

I’d say “go for it!” Hair grows back. It wouldn’t be permanent (unless you wanted it to be.)

I'm too attached to my hair (well, emotionally AND physically). I couldn't. Be prepared for ppl to ask you if your sick. If you want to do it, go for it. It's just hair!

No, I wouldn't.
But if you're doing it, why do you need an appointment? This is DIY territory.

I personally wouldn't have an issue trying bald. I have thought about it. I have super short hair anyways but my SO definitely has a preference.
I get called sir all the time with short hair I can't imagine if I were bald...lol

No, I wouldn't. But if you're doing it, why do you need an appointment? This is DIY territory. No DIY. I adore going to the barber, the clippers are relaxing and my barber would be pissed if I did this without him. He doesn't get many 'fun' cuts

I say go for it! You're so cute you could pull it off and if you don't like it for some reason, it will grow back. I think it IS one of those things you'll regret if you don't try it.

I'm on the "it's only hair and will grow back, so go for it" bench.
When I was in junior high my hair went from mid back length to 1/2 inch all around on the first day of summer. That's the shortest I've ever gone.

If you're going to do a #3 or #4, how about shaving a design into it on the side or the nape of your neck? I think that would be cool and your style. Although maybe not in the spirit of what you're trying to do, because you'd still be getting attention for your hair.

No, because I have a weird shaped head.
If you feel strongly about doing it, do it. It’s hair, it will grow back.

There was a time I would have said. No never! Never would I shave my head. In fact when Brittany Spears did it I kind of thought she had gone crazy.
Now I’m older, I can completely understand There are so many reason a woman might choose to do it and most of them have nothing to do with going crazy.
There are days I’m sorely tempted to just shave it all off. I haven’t done it. I’ll admit I’m still ‘afraid’ to. Not really afraid to cut my hair but afraid of what other people will think. Not really prepared to explain it, because I know I’d have to explain it. To everyone. It’s never really even been short. There’s a lot of weird emotions wrapped up in hair. Especially for me. Self esteem, guilt, and many other things. My mother used to use cutting my hair short as a threat when I was a child so there’s this subconscious issue I have equating short hair with being bad. ( thanks mom ) literally she constantly said if you don’t sit still I’ll chop all your hair off. If you don’t behave I’ll cut your hair short. In fact she did it too my sister and then was passed my sister lived it.
My Ex doesn’t like short hair. I was sorely tempted to hack it off the day of my divorce but then I decided I shouldn’t make rash decisions because of him. But rather when I’m sure it’s what *I* want.
But I do see how liberating it can be! Seriously. If I one day get over what anyone else thinks I’ll go for it. That and dyeing it purple.
If you want to shave your head then you can. Your a pretty damn strong awesome woman wether or not you shave your head won’t change that. Your hair - your body - your choice!
Your not crazy

I just googled and you're right, that's way too long. I'm guessing he will probably use a 1. I'm not sure, he will just do his thing most likely.

No. I have alopecia and come by that look naturally and not by choice. I know that everyone says...it is only hair or it will grow back, but we as a society seem to be very big on hair. So it is only hair if you have it, otherwise it is just another thing to deal with. I say do it if you want to.

Right now, my sides and back are shaved (I usually do 3/8”) and I have longer hair on the top of my head, maybe like a 5” wide strip. I have the ability to braid or topknot for a faux Mohawk look, do a pompadour for edgy style, or part it differently for a fairly mainstream short hairdo, like in my profile picture. I like the versatility. But I have been having A LOT of fun with my color. I change it drastically every month... Last month was purple, it’s denim blue right now, and I’m working my way to green. I bleach it and color to myself, and I am okay with the risk, because if it goes really bad or damaged, I can shave it. So, yes, I’ve thought about it, and yes, I would do it and have no regrets. Frankly, the difference between shaving with a trimmer and a pixie cut is only a couple of weeks.

With a 1 blade my instructions would probably be "don't make me look like a skinhead."
I mean, sad, but that's the time we live in...

A colleague of mine allowed the baseball team to buzz her head if they won state. It looked great. I will say that people in the small town all thought she was sick with cancer. It took months for those rumors to die down. She kept her hair short for years.
I had to buzz my head due to chemo treatment. My head looks better that I thought it would. I really miss my hair a lot. I don't think I would feel as sick if I had my hair. I was never curious about cutting all of my hair off, so I would not do it willingly.

In my early 20s I had the back and sides shaved. Not sure why I never went all the way, as I wore it short for years. After chemo, I cut all the fried hair off and it was about 3/4in long.
My bet is you will be surprised by how quickly it grows out. I was.

A friend of mine shaved hers a few years ago. She has always worn her hair short, but decided to shave it completely before a long trip through Europe. She ended up loving it.

A 3 is longer than I use on my boys. That will still be plenty of hair.
If you really want to shave it, go for it. I agree with others that people will probably assume that you are on chemotherapy, so be prepared for some interesting comments regarding your health.

Mine is longer on top, but thinning from HRT. If its gets worse as I get older, I'll have it shaved rather than do a wig. Go for it!

I’ve never been curious about it. But I feel like it would be liberating in a way. I’ve had really short pixie length hair in grade school and once again in high school. I would probably not shave my head by choice because I have a 10 inch scar going from ear to ear and I just don’t have one of those cute shaped heads.
