Isn't she a cutie? I picked up her sister in the black/brown finish on clearance today at IKEA for $39. They've already taken it down from the website, so I couldn't find a photo for you of the one I actually bought. I went in for a Raskog and came out with this instead. I decided I'm going to relocate some of my scrapbooks to another room, and free up some space in my craft room Expedit. The only hitch is, there's currently a treadmill in the office where it's going (long story, don't ask!) so I can't make the move until DH gets the treadmill out of there. He's been talking about it, but so far it's just talk... I don't want to give him the idea that I'm impatient. I'm just excited about reorganizing (and a little redecorating)

So I spend the day transcribing stuff my mum wrote - a 6-page (on legal paper) letter detailing a plane ride she took with me as an infant- and a trip journal from her trip to the UK in 2011 (ended up 29 pages in Word). I'll use the journal when I scrap the photos from her trip and I'll eventually turn the letter into scrapbook pages as well. She has atrocious handwriting so it was hours of work. This sounds like an amazing record to have! I'm blessed that my mum has kept journals for most of the trips she has taken in the past 25 years - and she shares them with me. I haven't scrapped all of her trips yet - but I have scrapped about a half-dozen and I use the journals for the journalling in the albums - and she loves them!
Just scrapped 5 layouts using 5 memories mum wrote up for me about my dad. Showed them to my girls and DD18 LOVED them - said she was so glad that I was scrapping them in a special album. Sent digital pics of the layouts to DS26 and he really liked reading them too. Dad died 2 years before I had DS so my kids never had a chance to know him.

What an absolute treasure! Such a beautiful gift to give your children, and a beautiful gift for your mother as well, knowing that her stories are being passed along

Where did you get the magic mesh, kiwigirl? I have been hoarding mine since it was “a thing”, parceling it out in little pieces. I love that stuff!

Oh wow magic mesh! I just started scrapping after that trend. I have always wanted some! I'm certain kiwigirl could inspire us, I'd love to see how it can be used.

i just used magic mesh on a page i have yet to post! i only have 2; very pretty pink "regular" style mesh and a red one with large dots...it's weird, kind of reminds me of a bandaid for some reason, so i haven't used that one much. but it's awesome stuff and i might like it in a few different colors. i know i could just buy drywall tape and color it myself but who am i kidding

I remember 12x12 sheets of mesh that were cheaper than the real "magic mesh". I think mine are all gone, and I haven't seen mesh in years. I would love to try some for texture + colour again! OTOH, maybe I should just pull out the texture paste and stencils that I already have...

msliz gorgeous! What is it called? I would love a couple! The series was called Tomnas, but it looks like it's been discontinued. I hope you can still find them near you. ~~~ So, I'm not happy right now. I don't like one of my pages because the background and embellishments are too much, and I feel like the photos are being overpowered by everything else on the page. But, the photos are nothing so special anyway, it's mostly done, and I don't have any other ideas anyway, so I'm trying to make it into something I like. It's just so busy - it seems like all too much. It's hard to finish a page when you don't like the way it's coming out.

msliz that's definitely frustrating; and sometimes you've put so much time and effort into it, it's not worth starting again. in those cases, i just finish and quickly move on!

So, the NY Times Sunday crossword from yesterday had the clue "scrapbookers need". The answer? PASTE! What the heck?
Is it wrong I really want to write the crossword creator and tell him he's ignorant?

after a weekend away from creating - we moved DD18 to college on Saturday and yesterday I deepcleaned...I'm back to scrapping. One page done so far today - I'm not quite happy with it but...it's done. One more and I'll have the baby book finished and can pick a new project to work on.

This is BIG NEWS, guys!
I can see some of my scrapbook desk again!! There is little in the world that can make my mood improve or keep me smiling than my desk being neat and tidy. So naturally, as soon as I clean it my kids bring in toys because 'look, a place to play', my husband brings in the mail and brings it in to me no matter how many times I tell him that I don't want the mail brought into my office, school things that have no home are set down here and on and on and on. Suffice it to say, I don't bother keeping it tidy because they bring in less junk when it's already covered in junk. I've also gotten several random things that I don't really know what to do with yet from TM, so they were added to the pile as well...so I can't blame them entirely for this one.
Problem is, I spread out when I scrapbook, so if my desk is a mess then I can't find any motivation to scrapbook.
It's finally usable again. It's not perfect, but I've dealt with many of the piles and even addressed a storage issue (my Elle's Studio product was outgrowing it's home) so I have room to put future purchases. I thought I would purge more than I did, but I did rediscover some things I didn't even remember I had and put them where I keep things like it which did a lot to free up space. I guess this means I need to get my butt in gear and use some stuff up...especially because my kit bin (kept next to the container mentioned above) is bursting at the seams as well.
If only I could scrapbook in reality as much as I manage to accomplish in my head. *sigh*

yay for a clean scrapbook desk scrapaddict702 - I need a clean space to create in also - I've finally got my house in a good place and have a good daily routine in place to keep it that way (at least during the week -we'll see if it survives a weekend).

My daughter isn't nearly as messy as my sons (and she's happy to sit quietly and watch tv when she's not having me help babysit her stuffed animals and baby dolls) so with them in school, I'm hoping that once we catch up on the summer destruction that the weekends will be easier to keep up with by making Sunday evening the time the kids clean up after themselves so the week starts off in decent shape.
I hope that your house is able to survive weekends! I think not having as many kids here to undo any cleaning I accomplish quite as quickly might be on the best perks to school, lol.

I'm down to just one kid at home (DD11) and she's gone from 7-430 every day - that is definitely helping keep the house clean as she is my messy one and with just me home most of the time...I'm not that messy

I accidentally posted in a group instead of my wall (thank goodness I wasn't swearing at my children's behavior in the post, lol) about wanting to move but not feeling like we could because where I live doesn't have state income tax and I hear the income tax of where I want to move is BRUTAL. Someone politely commented that it was posted in the wrong place, but it wasn't entirely wrong, lol...and that got me thinking... I can't be the only one who feels stuck sometimes (or even just enjoys the idea of looking at available houses in dream locations) and wants to fantasize about moving away. In every listing I browsed, 2 things were very important to me: central air (not common where I want to move) and a craft area/room of some type. If only a pay increase due to the higher cost of living didn't only succeed in negating the state income tax and actually eliminated the need for a supplemental income...on and one tiny other thing would be helpful...having an extra $100K lying around to avoid having to drastically downsize or buy a house that needed major remodeling (something we wouldn't be able to afford anyway). Some of the houses I looked at that are just a touch out of feasibility for us have massive bonus rooms that left me drooling and my head swirling with the possibilities of what to do with such large spaces...others would leave me crammed into a formal dining room or tiny loft with minimal wall space at the top of a case of stairs, several more had nothing I could work with but large fenced in yards that had me thinking about she-sheds, lol. As I'm sitting here sweating to death in the desert heat, all I can do is dream of the possibilities of moving back to the pacific northwest. *sigh* You can't get anymore scrappily random than that.
