Just out of interest.
I need to buy a product, there is nowhere I can buy it locally which would be my first choice, I've looked all over on line and I end up with two options:
1. 125g size costs $35 plus postage $8 total cost $43 2. 250g size, free postage costs $49.
Almost a no brainer EXCEPT there is no way I will use up the larger size, the product has an expiry date and I doubt I would even use up the smaller size in that time. Also can't sell half as it's a powder and I don't know who else would use it.
So which one would you buy...the smaller one because overall it still costs less, and you won't even use it all, or the larger one because for an extra $6 you get twice as much!
I've got both windows open and I can't decide. The bargain hunter in me says "get the bigger size", the practical side of me says "don't be stupid, you probably aren't even going to use it all"

Me? Smaller size, save the $6 since it’s more than what you’ll use anyhow. Dh? Bigger size, it’s a better deal per gram

Smaller size...only buy what you will use, since you can't sell the leftover.

If you truly don't know anyone that would use the remainder, there's no savings in the larger amount. Get the small. If it's something that could be useful if donated, get the large.

Is it a real expiration date or a Best by date?
Is it something where you can put some in the freezer?
If I thought I could preserve it, I would go larger and try it.

The smaller one. The larger one is only a better deal if you’re going to use it up. Otherwise you are out the value of what you won’t use out of the smaller one plus all of the actual price difference of the larger one.

It's not a bargain if you waste it.

OK, I'm staring to be convinced about the smaller size, I need to think of it costing me $5 less. I guess it just grates on me having to pay that much for postage too.

I really think it depends on the product. Can you give some away to a friend?

You think you will only use half of the small size, so that is $43 for 62.5g. Using the same 62.5g from the large package is $49.
I would feel better in the end paying a little less and tossing less leftover.

Smaller sized. Don’t spend more just to toss what you won’t end up using.

I’d buy the bigger one and find someone to give the extra to or figure out if I could freeze it or something.

Is the free shipping by purchasing a minimum amount? If so, can you buy the smaller one and something else you may need?

Otherwise you are out the value of what you won’t use out of the smaller one plus all of the actual price difference of the larger one. This. But you could always start another thread someday: WWTPD? Should I keep it or toss it? I spent good money for it but it’s just taking up good space and I’m never going to use it again. Hmmm🤔

Is the free shipping by purchasing a minimum amount? No they are two different places, the free shipping site only stocks the larger size. I'm gradually being convinced in favour of the small size...

If you definitely know that you won’t use more than there is in the smaller size I’d get that one.

I go through this once in awhile too. But then I really think about it and I realize I am still paying $5 less. I have paid for shipping before rather than try to add things to my cart that I really did not need. I vote for smaller bag.

Then I’d go with the smaller; however, before buying, email both sites to find out what the expiration dates are. One might have slightly older inventory that might effect your decision.

I would definitely purchase option #1. IMHO paying more for twice as much product that I know won't be used is unnecessarily wasteful.

I'm not spending more money to throw more of something away. If there is truly no way to use/donate the leftover product it's a no brainer.

Can you vacuum seal it for later use if you get the larger size?

Is it something that I can use? If so, drop the extra 125g of this mysterious powder off to me on the way to your mum's house! I can understand your dilemma, the shipping on the smaller quantity is ridiculously expensive, and it seems silly to pay almost the same for half the quantity. But as others have mentioned, it's not a bargain if you're throwing half of it out. Get the smaller one! (But man, $35 for shipping.........!!! )

Get the smaller one. Bonus is that a smaller container takes up less space
