She doesn't even look interested in the fake page flipping, how are we supposed to feign interest in the class?

The sad thing about all of this is remembering who Becky was before....she was so creative. When PL was first introduced the excitement about what she had come up with was so much fun (I know the CK kit has another name but I forgot it). Now she is the brunt of jokes.
I wish I could go back to the scrapbook world circa 2009.

She had a bunch of stories last week lamenting the "mistake" of under-pricing the course...which sounds like watching her create pages and yearbooks. She's given that content away for free a million times on IG and repackaged it more than once as a class. How many times will she go back to that well?

Becky needs to close up shop and stop trying to be relevant. She is soooooo out of touch with reality. But that happens when you live a sheltered life style.

I took her classes at CKU back in 2002 and remember the fun, the authenticity, etc. And I still have some of my original PL supplies around. I feel like she got caught up in the money, the lifestyle and confused her identity with a brand and now she’s like a shell of her former self. It’s sad.

I am on a mission this year to make a dent in my journaling card stash and I was looking at the PL reference sheets to jog my memory about what I have. So many of the sets are still quite nice, and it could still be a very relevant product if she just would have listened to her customers (square corners, fewer cards, etc.). That said, I probably have enough PL supplies to take me into 2030, so...

WOW! What a deal I would have expected to pay at LEAST $39.99 for this class. Hope I can still get in at this low, low price before it sells out!!!!!

I wish I could go back to the scrapbook world circa 2009. The CK kit was Project 365. I had just joined the CK Message Board around the time it was released. I remember all the drama when the release went very badly when it was faced with high demand. I think the website crashed and no one could get through to customer service. At the time I actually admired how Becky handled the situation when CK threw her under the bus. She did a good job of communicating what was happening. She hardly seems like the same person now.

I need someone to take one for the team and see what is offered for $37. My guess is that if it is simple, it might not be worth it for most people.

Okay, so today was the last day of the “class.” I signed up bc I really want to keep up with PL this year and learn more about the PL app, both were key parts of the class. It was fine, but definitely NOT over priced. She showed us 10 different types of projects, did walk throughs of the books and gave top of the head advice. It was fine, I got some more inspiration, learned like one thing abt the app 🤷🏽♀️.
It was a series of instagram lives. She talked unscripted, wasted a bunch of time on things that could have been prepared ahead of time. Because everything is an instagram post, there is no organized way to find information about what you’re interested in.
She thinks it was such a great deal bc she was live for several hours per day. But that’s bc she didn’t want to do post production editing. So she would just talk and answer live questions. I’m sure it was exhausting for her but it didn’t add *value*. It was just annoying to never know when one topic would end or begin. A real class would have a schedule of when she’d be talking about a recipe book (pass) or talking about travel (book something I wanted to see).
I remember people used to joke about her saying “because I know someone will ask..” but people really did ask her random stuff so often!! Asked everything from where did you get your shirt (a basic black tee) to her light fixtures. The irritating thing is she would read and answer those questions but refused or ignore questions relevant to the class.
Toward the end of the week, she would CONSTANTLY talk about what a great value this is. How much extra we are getting and how tired her voice was. Talking for hours and answering questions online is hard but anyone who has hosted a meeting or taught school in the zoom era goes through the same thing. It doesn’t doesn’t mean the class is worth more.

Do the least you can for the most money you can and talk it up as if it's the be-all end-all. Here is my favorite part - it's only online thru end of Feb: "Q: Will it stay online?" Becky: "All the content lives in the private IG group through the end of February." Why?!?! Why do people have to wade through unindexed yammering to find what they need and then not even be able to access the content indefinitely? or at least a year?!?!? Typical Becky.

There’s really not much to document. I go to work and come home. I run a few errands weekly (groceries, take out). I had some early core kits (Midnight, Seafoam) that I used for many years. I finally decided I was done with them. Some newer core I haven’t gotten as much use out of, I kept two of each 3x4 and all the 4x6 (I never have enough of those) and tossed the rest. I also subbed to KP for a while so have cards from those kits, plus cards from SBTM from the year I subbed. And finally I had a ton of SC cards from the mega, mega sale. I culled those down to just what I liked. My card stash feel much more manageable and I still have enough to last me years.

chances - thanks for your recap. I too miss her from the good old days of scrapping. I took a class with her back in the early 2000's and she was really good, it's a shame how much she's changed, and not for the better.

@zingermack Any news on what happened to the abandoned house? It didn't sell at auction and I don't know how to navigate the US public records system well enough to hunt for the info myself (at least not without wasting a significant chunk of time). I lived a few houses down from her so I know the address and how to look up the documents. I’m not a real estate professional but here’s what I found: Becky and David signed a Deed of Trust on 11/19/2004 for a vacant lot; this was a new built neighborhood when they purchased and these are semi-custom homes. Zillow doesn’t show the 2004 sale price (found it! $855,000!) but has “sold” in 2006 for $614,477 and again in 2009 for $789,000… The property has a Deed of Trust with Assignment of Rents dated in 2005 in another person’s name. A Deed of Trust listing David and Becky as the grantor in 2007, and a Deed of Release for the same year listing the 2007 mortgage A Deed of Trust with a Planned Unit Development rider listing David and Becky as borrowers in 2008 I found a Warranty Deed dated 8/19/2009 that conveys the same property from another couple to David and Becky. This document shows David and Becky’s mailing address somewhere else which I looked up and found was another property they owned. I looked up that property and saw that they quit-claimed it to themselves under an LLC in 2009 so I’m guessing that has something to do with the multiple sales-they probably did the same with this house… Back to the original house..it went up for Trustee’s Sale in 2019, listing a trust deed in 2008 with Becky and David as the original truster and someone else as the current trustee… Then the Trustee’s Deed Upon Sale was completed in 2020. Property was sold at public auction on March 12, 2020. It listed the highest bid price as $826,568.51. And I found yet another property that they signed a Warranty Deed conveying that property to someone in 2002 And another Warranty Deed signed 2005 conveying a fourth? property to someone else. One of the properties I found had Becky’s parents on the deed as well as her husband. They had more than one home but the home they lived in in my neighborhood was foreclosed on and sold at auction for sure. Wow. Just wow. I guess that's how the rich keep on being rich

Thank you for the recap. I rarely check her IG anymore. Cannot stand the drama photos she posts of herself—puppy dog eyes, tired eyes, sweaty post-hike photos. Her stories drive me nuts. When I see endless dots, I move on. If she can’t communicate in a half dozen or fewer slides, it means she doesn’t know how to get to the point—or she’s bragging. Or begging.
Her posts about the “new” class just kept popping up in my feed. Testimonial after testimonial that were so “kind”. She seemed desperate. Like she has “bills to pay—buy my class” desperate.
I didn’t see her post about he tired voice, but as an educator who has class after class all day—spare me the complaints about a tired voice. And the feedback given here about lack of organization/outline/index—huge flaw. And only available thru February seems inadequate.
I, too, used to like her magazine articles, occasional blog posts. Never got into PL though I did get the app. I like a different format (9 x 12 or 8 x 10) and I don’t use pockets. I prefer a traditional photo album (Kolo albums are my favorite). I don’t use “all the things” in most of my albums, pref to feature the photos and some text. Exceptions are travel albums (which isn’t happening for most of us though the Higgins continue, I guess), or other albums with a specific focus.
As others have said, she does seem to live in a sheltered bubble. I hope her daughter is ok. That bubble Becky is in is probably not a comfortable bubble to be in for anyone who doesn’t @fit”.

Great recap for the class. Good there were some pros to go with the quite predictable cons. For me, the time wasted while waiting for content I paid for would be exasperating. I think classes should be well planned and give new content. If they are, they will be watched by more people. Had Chances come back and said it was an amazing class and she learned a lot from it, I would have bought it. I know that Becky was once a really good presenter and creator. I think she was probably trying to see if she could get this class to fly in this format so she could do more like this with little effort.
And cracking up on the tired voice. Many years I would go 8:30-1 every day talking without a break at school. It's what you do. Now I go 8:30-11:40 and see 11-13 groups and have not one minute of downtime. I really love it. Makes the morning fly. I would guess there are plenty of people in different professions that do the same and are thankful that they are employed.

I have 2 photo boxes that are full and more that have spilled over into additional smaller storage. My issue right now is time to use the stash. January has been challenging.
I feel like they are organized well and once I get actual scrapping done, I may throw some out. Still, I do find other uses for the ugly cards.

chances, how many people are in the class (members of the private Instagram?) I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to change for access to private accounts. That wasn’t allowed on FB and they used to shut down accounts that were reported for doing it.

She said there were about 1200 people who signed up for the class but not everyone had requested an invite to the group yet. I don’t know the policy but she was very clear Instagram classes are what she plans on in the future. I wonder if she checked the rules..

I have paid for @sharonsaysso's content before. "A spokesperson for Instagram told me these kinds of paid pages are technically against its terms of service, although the company tends to be hit or miss on which terms it chooses to enforce (see: loop giveaways are technically not allowed either)." www.buzzfeednews.com/article/stephaniemcneal/influencer-paid-accounts

Some newer core I haven’t gotten as much use out of, I kept two of each 3x4 and all the 4x6 (I never have enough of those) and tossed the rest. Count me in on never having enough of the 4x6 cards. I thought I was alone in this, but there is definitely a shortage. Most of what I have are the dreaded bifold journaling cards from the early kits and I haven't managed to use these at all. I organized my PL cards by color. I would look at each side and decide which I would likely use. I did this as well, and I still have a ton of cards. It was getting overwhelming so I set a timer for myself and pulled a bunch of cards that I thought I would be likely to use for this year's PL. The goal is to get through 100 cards this year (this will hardly make a dent in my stash). I just need to figure out how to deal with the rounded corners. Either I just go with it, rounding all my corners, or somehow trim down and mount the cards. Both seem fussy, but I am willing to embrace it and do what I need to do to use what I have. I also pulled a bunch of old Simple Stories Snap cards to use as embellishments with an older line of paper I have. They have been sitting unused, so I am going to start to use them like pattern paper scraps and see how far I get.

She said there were about 1200 people who signed up for the class Wow. So a $40,000 little jump in her income every time she feels like repackaging her old content (make a yearbook! senior photos! make a memory book!) by yammering for a few hours a day for a week. I guess if people are willing to pay her for that, why not! She can go buy more stuff for the house she bought after foreclosure.
