Since she mentioned DANCING today, I thought it'd be fun to post her DANCING WITH WRAPPING PAPER (yes....seriously!) for anyone who's never seen it. ** sidebar---this was six years ago.....Enjoy!

I can not bring myself to watch that wrapping paper video ever again. Maybe this evening, after I've had a glass or two (or three) of wine. lol.

She actually looks really good in that video. Shine cosmetics were not her friend. I hate with the fire of a thousand suns her damn thick, square acrylic nails with the shallow nail bed. Gah!!! 🤮

Between the industrial bread and this dirty coke thing, I'm lost as a European. Dirty coke sounds like cocaine that was cut with something bad to me... Utah appears to be full of surprises! Also, when I first read about Grandma Sycamore, my brain registered it as Grandma Willow from Pocahontas (in my defense, she's called Grandma Foliage in French). I was very confused until I figured people were talking about the sliced bread. Mormon's don't drink alcohol, but Utahns love their sugary drinks. Dirty Coke is the virgin drink equivalent of the alcoholic drink Dirty...? I don't know. I have drank very little alcohol. There was even a lawsuit between two rival drink places on who could use the name dirty.
You cannot make this stuff up!
ETA: Drink #28 is my favorite. I will defend my love of Son of a Peach. So there. and DUH! Here is the link.
The only dirty drink I’ve ever heard of is a ‘Dirty Shirley Temple’ Which us basically just a Shirley Tempke with Vodka added

I don't drink so I just can't get to a place where I could stand to watch. BTW I was watching a new Vicki P video (maybe some people here know her? a Greek cardmaker and art journaler) and she was showing her new stone paper art journals (Stamperia brand) and they sound pretty cool for mixed media work. They don't bleed or warp, you can layer acrylic paint and heat gun them and they seemed un-damaged, like new, on the back of the page. She did a beautiful piece of art journaling and all I could think about was BH and her stupid stone paper wrapping video.

The wrapping paper video is worse than when 5th graders are given an assignment to make a commercial. I swear the 5th graders do better.

Actually, Google told me to get a life , and stop gossiping about a scrapbooking "GURU"....oh wait, she doesn't call herself that any longer.

Oma is German for Grandma, and Platane is one translation of Sycamore. It is the name of Becky's 'best bread' directly translated to German.

sueg ....Thank you! I *meant* to say I know what "Oma" is, but not "platane". I usually google before I ask questions, but "platane" didn't give me anything in German or French. ETA: oops, now I see I only read the first definition ( a tree). Further down, it does say sycamore. Platane. noun. plane [noun] a type of tree with broad leaves. (Translation of Platane from the PASSWORD German–English Dictionary © 2014 K Dictionaries Ltd) ...

Oma is Dutch for grandmother Grossmutter is German 'Oma' is the informal 'grandma' ('nan', 'granny') in both Dutch and German. Same goes for 'Opa'/'opa' (no capitalisation of common nouns in Dutch) for 'grandpa'. 'Grandmother' is ' Großmutter'/'Grossmutter' in German, 'grootmoeder' in Dutch.

Becky celebrates the end of Pride month with an IG story linking to LGBTQ+ x faith intersection resources (Mormon will always be BH's number 1 personality trait): For all her faults, Becky has her daughter's back.

It sounds so much better than the English version. When I read platane, I first thought of plantains.
For all her faults, Becky has her daughter's back. In the only way she knows. The LDS resources aren't great because they don't seem to address church doctrine. If she wants a forever family, her daughter can never marry, never have a child, never have a same sex relationship, and remain celibate for the rest of her life. When she dies, she will be sealed to another person of the opposite sex. That will be her eternal reward.
ETA: I don't know the orientation of Becky's daughter, but there is only one way to be with your family forever; straight, obedient, and married.
If she continues in her faith, fine. I hope she accepts her daughter's choices and makes the best of the life they have together. I watched the first episode of Mormon no More on Hulu and my emotions are a bit raw on this subject (suicide was talked about).
Also wanted to add, not all Mormons are monsters who disinherit their children. My husband's cousin has transitioned to male, is married, and has a son. The family Christmas cards include everyone; the child who is now male, the gay son, the straight daughter married in the temple, and the other newly married inactive daughter.

When she dies, she will be sealed to another person of the opposite sex. That will be her eternal reward. Undoubtedly, it's a shift that comes with a great amount of cognitive dissonance. The co-hosts of Questions from the Closet which she linked in her "Ally" stories took different paths and both wrote books about being (and remaining) LDS while being gay. Schilaty who works at BYU remains celibate to embrace a more strict reading of the faith whereas Charlie Bird has openly admitted to falling in love and being in a relationship with a man (which he then ended because he has a master's to finish at BYU and the honour code forbids it - gah, frustrating). Both co-hosts, however, seem to agree their choices are compatible with their faith. One relies on doctrine, the other on personal prayer. One can only hope Becky's kid gets to attend a different school but I have my doubts. Still, the Higgins are not silencing the matter and are trying to walk the walk. Considering the peer pressure in the Mormon community, that's not nothing. I hope they keep embracing the situation and broadening their mind. Ultimately, Christians always have an easy and straightforward loophole when it comes to fully accepting LGBTQ+ (people and relationships) by asking what Jesus would've done. They simply need to get over the (often contradictory anyway) scripture.

Ultimately, Christians always have an easy and straightforward loophole when it comes to fully accepting LGBTQ+ (people and relationships) by asking what Jesus would've done. They simply need to get over the (often contradictory anyway) scripture. I live near an LDS temple in my state (Ca) and have several LDS friends. They are very different than the LDS persons I have met who grew up and still live in Utah. Here, all but 1 drinks. A few have divorced. They all have college degrees and work outside the home (only 1 attended BYU). They wear regular shorts and tees. And fully support the LGBTQIA community as well as Roe vs Wade./pro-choice. I have always found it interesting that my LDS friends here in Ca are a looser LDS follower than those in Utah. Their religion takes a back seat to other things. Whereas those I have met through them from Utah are all about LDS. Its like a 24 hour a day thing. None of my LDS friends here in Ca wear the undergarments. The judgement here is less than in Utah for sure. Like I said, I have always just found it interesting...I dont know what other words to use. I hope Becky's child does not receive backlash for her being her true authentic self. Amd that she is surrounded by people who love her and care about her and dont wish her to be someone else to appease the heads of the LSD church and God, etc.

I think she actually has a better chance of NOT attending BYU now that they are in Utah. There's plenty of in state colleges and universities with strong institute (religion) programs.

Whereas those I have met through them from Utah are all about LDS. Its like a 24 hour a day thing. None of my LDS friends here in Ca wear the undergarments. If they have gone through the temple, I have to say that really surprises me. I don't think of that as a Utah vs non Utah member thing. It's part of the temple recommend interview. They ask if you wear your garments. The drinking part too. It may be that when they are around you, they feel they can be themselves. Drink a little or wear what is comfortable. I was recently surprised to hear of things a family member and her husband have been doing. When around parents they are on their best behavior. Her mom knows we are inactive, she thinks all of her children are good standing members.
Where I've seen differences is how some view non members in Utah or just "different" people than them in general. Still, it's one of things of how you were raised. Neither one of my parents came from active LDS homes. They didn't care who we were friends with as long as the kids weren't assholes, because Mormons can be assholes too. A GIANT difference is also the culture of perfectionism. There is a sameness of how people look depending where you live. I don't know. It's hard to explain.

If they have gone through the temple, I have to say that really surprises me. My friends who are practicing Mormons who've gone through the temple only wear their undergarments on religious holidays or when they go to weddings. They say that they can still be devout Mormons and not wear the undergarments all the time to which I commented "I didn't think Mormonism was a 'pick and choose' religion". They do pretty much follow every other rule (no alcohol/drugs/caffeine). It will be interesting to see how all of this pans out for BH. I hope the best for her child.

I just recently watched "Mormon No More" on hulu. If you have hulu I highly recommend it. It was only 4 episodes but it was packed full of interesting information. I really hope Becky continues to support her child.

I feel like a lot of people who are religious follow the same "pick and choose" philosophy, I'm just glad Becky seems to be picking and choosing her child.

Becky and her family have indeed moved to Eden, Utah. On a whim I checked the property records again and they bought a 4600 sf house on a 0.89 acre lot built in 2014. I wonder how long she'll continue to play coy on her Instagram account and not mention where in "Northern Utah" she moved? Edited to remove purchase price information. It is publicly available for anyone who cares to search.
