I don't understand why she wants to sell recipes? Yes, I know adoration, validation, fame mongering. I am reading a LDS blog right now and the author is sharing her yummy fancy recipes for free. All sorts of breads, desserts, etc... It is a frugality prepping blog but still the recipes are free and I think more appetizing. I am not trying to throw shade at Becky's recipes. I am sure some find them yummy. I am not a foodie. I am happy with a bowl of rice and salad. I am a boring eater. Yep! Us Mormons (I'm a bad one!) are known for being cheap and making basic foods. Ward (congregation) cookbooks are popular. Usually filled with cream of whatever soup, jello, and I'm sure a similar cookie recipe to Becky's. AND they are free or you have to pay cost for the book.
p.s. They actually have gotten better over the years, but that's where most of my childhood recipes came from.

WTF? First Ali is rambling about evolving and now Beggy is using the same term. Did these two end up at the same 'how to save your business retreat'? Geez. I am about fed up with all the mid-life crisis's and evolving that is happening in scrapbook world. It could be their age, and how they ended up in this field. As I recall they both fell into this as a career and were successful at something that was a hobby. Good for them, we should all be that lucky! Now they are hitting mid-life, with aging children. Many of us, have had thoughts about "what's next" at this stage. I'm actually sympathetic to this aspect of their life. I just don't appreciate their need to write about it as if they are the first to experience it. When I do read them I feel like they're rather vapid and move on. They failed to note lifestyle leaders like Martha Stewart presented the image, some chat, but not every emotion or detail. When you are an Icon or Name Brand keeping it real isn't the same as real life. I do not feel this way about Cathy Z. She has seemed different because she was career adjacent with her graphics and other experience. She was also a bit more mature, in age or emotions, when scrapbooking hit. She has put some personal stuff out there, but tries to do it with humor, it's easier to gloss over.

I mean that as a compliment. All the LDS frugality blogs I read their recipes are beautiful. The ingredients are simple, frugal and easy to purchase. Last night I was reading the blog I shared in my last post. She was teaching how to make the most beautiful honey wheat rolls I have ever seen. I wanted to reach through the screen and snag one.
I use to teach frugality courses. I have been in frugality social media since the days of newsgroups. I have always loved LDS frugality blogs because of the beautiful recipes and food knowledge. I love LDS recipe books. Give me an Amish or LDS recipe book and I have found gold.

Good gracious, how did I miss this?!?!?
The guru tells how to "cultivate a great life" as it relates to social media.
Starting at about minute 9 she talks about how she uses her account to proselytize - which the observant among grokked a long time ago. It's just nice to see it spelled out so plainly.

She posted about her BYU talk on her IG. She was more proud of that than anything I think but I probably would be too, IF I had an Alma mater to speak of. As for prosytelizing, it’s unprofessional, yes, but in a talk at a religious college, I think speaking on it was ok. And probably expected.

Just interesting that she admits that bringing people to "heavenly father" is one of her social media objectives.

I thought proselytizing was standard for all LDS. She wouldn’t be the first to insert religion into business and it’s not like she’s trying to hide it. Out of all the strange business decisions Becky makes, this isn’t even in my radar.

So is she selling them or that's want a print from the app costs? I'm so confused. It doesn't really matter because after the photo class rip off she won't get another penny from me.

Don’t think we’ve discussed this, but BH posted this week on Instagram about investing in good quality sound equipment for her upcoming podcast. I’m going to pass on that, anticipating more sanctimony and proselytizing than I can handle.

Becky posted about having to let one of her staff go. I imagine it's hard to do when you treat the office like a playground.

Becky posted about having to let one of her staff go. I imagine it's hard to do when you treat the office like a playground. This drove me nuts. It’s not my job to make you feel better about firing someone and to do it under the guise of “let’s show her some love” is nauseating. At the end of the day this is a business, plain and simple, and she continues to degrade her brand by the constant need for ego stroking and affirmation. I AM DONE.

I would be so embarrassed if I posted I need expensive sound equipment and then I need to let somebody go. I am not trying to be judgey but it kind of sounds like she let the person go to buy the sound equipment. I know how expensive that equipment is. Of course, I am thinking of my friends equipment and she could have bought something at Wal-Mart.

What happened with Race? He was one of her employees featured and then he disappeared and hasn't been mentioned again.

Who did she let go? Since she's saying, "let's show her some love" did she name them publicly?
ETA: Okay, I found the post. It's tacky as hell. Even worse, Becky is hand slapping those who called her out for being tacky telling them that they need to watch her stories to get the full story. Don't stories delete after 24 hours? Who wants to sit through her hour long stories to find out her supposed clarification that won't be there in a day anyway. WFT with this woman?!

Who did she let go? Since she's saying, "let's show her some love" did she name them publicly? Yes, and she posted a picture of all of them. It was Toni, who apparently did customer service and handled Amazon. Her customer service role will be shifted to Wendi and they are third party outsourcing the Amazon stuff apparently.

I'm assuming her podcast will be a lifestyle thing with her just using it as a platform to shill more low quality shit.
And if I were the employee, I would be pissed. It's not the world's business to know what conditions I discontinued my employment under. It doesn't matter if I quit, it was a layoff or I was stealing from the company. That should be confidential...hence 99% of businesses stating 'so and so no longer works here' end of story. Talk about rude as fuck. The rest of the playground squad better watch out...when the next firing happens they could be the ones with their business laid out for the world to see.

That actually makes me sad. Three years ago I had a shipping issue and Toni was the one who saved the day for me. I had ordered a baby kit for my sister’s baby shower. When I left to head to another state, it still hadn’t arrived. She somehow worked magic and the package arrived in time at my Dad’s house so I could put things together for my sister before the shower. She was wonderful and kept reassuring me that she’d make sure I had what I needed. She went above and beyond.

I guess Toni is fine with it, or at least that’s what she’s saying. Doesn’t matter if she is or isn’t okay with it, it was still unprofessional and tacky as shit for Becky to post.

Just another juvenile decision (the IG post, not speaking of the firing itself) by an immature business owner who runs her company like it's a middle-school club.
Yet people line up w/the dollars and the adoration. So, on it goes.

Everyone knows when a woman says she is FINE, she is far from it.
Yikes. I can’t imagine working in that kind of environment.

I don’t care if the woman was so happy she was let go because she was just about to announce she has won a million dollars on the lottery and she’s quitting - you do not air your personal business affairs like Becky did on Instagram.
It’s tacky and unnecessary and stinks of another privileged scrap celebrity trying to be relatable.

Call me petty, but I unfollowed her on all platforms after this. I will continue to use the app (I very sparingly buy additional kits) and print through other companies. I credit PL with getting me back into memory keeping/scrapbooking but I won’t spend more money to support this shitshow.
Also, the magnet frames that were linked here from Amazon are amazing. I thought the quality was decent and I was able finally hang some large posters in my daughter’s room.

It was so nice to not have her lecturing me about one of her bright ideas once a day. She posts WAY too much. I see the recent firing as the first of many...that whole shop will be shut down in less than 2 years. Becky will be just fine and I'm sure onto other ventures with lots of money in the bank, but Project Life barely has a heartbeat at this point. I do love the app that I paid for $1.99 for and whatever money that brings in will be all that's left for BH. She sold out to American Crafts and nothing has been the same since. CANNOT believe she felt the need to post that she let Toni go....so freaking weird. My 8th grader would know better than that.

It’s not only rude, but that’s confidential personnel info she’s posting. She obviously doesn’t have an HR person or attorney advising her. There’s a reason all you can say is that the person is no longer employed by the company.

There’s a reason all you can say is that the person is no longer employed by the company. Plus since she’s willingly admitting there was no reason for Toni’s firing, nowcshes opened herself up for a lawsuit and an unemployment case. Clearly Becky has never had a real job or she would see how completely unprofessional this all is.
