No shit, Becky. Addictions affect everyone.
It's like they're all in 9th grade just learning about the world.

Aside from my long-time hatred of the word INTENTIONAL, I now have two other words I cannot STAND: " STINKIN " (and it's used in almost the same sentence in this post...nooo! justt....NO!!!) and " CULTIVATE" No offense if any of you like the term "stinkin "---I have ALWAYS hated it, long before BH overused it! I have a friend that would use it for EVERYTHING!!! "that is so STINKIN fun" "you are so STINKIN cute" Gosh that's difficult to read. Are paragraphs forbidden? I've always been anti-stinkin as well - whether or not it had a G at the end. sleepingbooty , thinking of you.

make sure to check out the post a couple pics back from this one, with the photo that has her 'quarantine happy place' (blech!) she makes sure she has: "my water (always in my @truflask), my @minkycouture (duh), my scriptures (@lineuponline), my color pencils (search woodless color pencils on amazon — I *still* haven’t seen chipped or broken graphite in these! 🙌🏻), and my laptop so I can have @dontmissthisstudy playing on YouTube as I follow along in the scriptures. 💛 " (and if any of her followers happen to click on any of those links? they're stupid.) eta: "The theme that runs through every episode of the podcast is that, by the end of each episode, we are more inspired with more specific ways to meaningfully cultivate a good life." "The theme of every podcast episode is inspiration to cultivate a good life." Fixed that for you, Becky. A sentence you can actually READ and COMPREHEND. 32 words vs. 13. Apparently Becky thinks the comma and the words more, cultivate, and that are woefully underused in everyday life so she does what she can to make up for it.

Mandi Gubler a former missionary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints addiction recovery program. NO! JUST NO! Even as a TBM, I knew that program is pure crap. Most are not trained and do not know what they are doing. Some of the things they deem as an addiction are what they consider a sin and others do not. I've heard too many stories of gay people who were reffered to the program because it had to be an addiction to porn. You want more information, go here addictionrecovery.churchofjesuschrist.org/home?lang=eng

Hijacking this thread for a bit. scrappintoee , this one is for you I tend to be a parrot-meaning for some bizarre reason I will latch on to a mannerism or word choice of someone I see on a daily basis. Sadly, I was a second grade classroom teachers so my word choices weren't very sophisticated to say the least! One year I had a student that used the word super for EVERYTHING! Yep. It stuck like glue to me. And he wasn't wrong. You CAN use super for everything, which I annoyingly did. Examples: I am super tired. That movie was super depressing. I am super hungry. You look super good. AAAHHH! I drove my family crazy, but I couldn't really help myself. And yes, it lasted the whole stinkin' school year.

I tend to be a parrot-meaning for some bizarre reason I will latch on to a mannerism or word choice of someone I see on a daily basis. I do this! Right now, DS's favorite word is dueche. That was a dueche move. Don't be a dueche. He is a dueche. Guess what word is coming out of me now. I really am trying to fight it. But the worst is southern accents, I'm a midwest southern girl living in the midwest north. So I talk to my sister, my FIL will call me on it. You talked to your sister recently as your southern drawl is back. I have to catch myself if I'm on a call with a southern accent as I start off without one and by the end I'll have one. I'm like they don't know me, they'll think I'm making fun of them or something.

And yes, it lasted the whole stinkin' school year. cristelina ....I see what you did there I super enjoyed your post, too! LisaDV and smginaz Suzy .....I also pick up other peoples' expressions and accents sometimes...(by the way, I think "wicked" is a very cool word, annnd, I'm sure NO ONE from New England would enjoy my faux accent when I say it). I think the reason I HATE "STINKIN" sooo much is because it's just a gross / negative word. It's as though whoever made it up thought it would be "cute" to use it in a positive way...." ohhh, your baby is so STINKIN' cute!"... bleeechhh!!!!!!! NO! P.S......Are y'all familiar with the old Saturday Night Live skit where Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch where a couple from Boston ("BaWston")--that was fun! Oh, and I also LOVED Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's accents in "Good Will Hunting." I'm pretty sure DH and I attempted to talk that way quite often after seeing it.

Gosh that's difficult to read. Are paragraphs forbidden? I've always been anti-stinkin as well - whether or not it had a G at the end. Sorry---no, that's my fault. The lack of paragraphs and the difficulty of reading it is my fault, because I embeded the post incorrectly. ------------------------------- Here's a "cut and paste" that's MUCH easier to read (Cut and Pasted from BH Instagram----April 22, 2020) One thing our podcast guests have in common is their willingness to share a piece of their STORY, which inspires the rest of us to cultivate a stronger connection to our own story.
The theme that runs through every episode of the podcast is that, by the end of each episode, we are more inspired with more specific ways to meaningfully cultivate a good life.
(my comment: I liked the way crimsoncat05 re-wrote this more succinctly! )
This week’s episode is no exception! Our guest? Mandi Gubler! Some of you know her through her work @vintagerevivals. [ Fun fact: That perfect white paint we used throughout our entire @higgins.home? Yep. Mandi White. She literally created it. ](my comment---wow, I did NOT know that one person could LITERALLY create paint...wow...I am super STINKIN' impressed !!!) The topic? Addiction.Everyone is affected by addiction — directly or indirectly. Whether you’re feeling the effects now or whether your experience manifests later. It could be you. Could be someone you care about. Addiction happens. It can look like a lot of different things. And it’s very REAL.(my comment--- refugeepea ....You said that they consider homosexuality an "addiction?"....that is very sad!) Through Mandi’s very honest, very vulnerable sharing about her family’s experience with this kind of challenge ... we learn firsthand about addiction in a way that leaves us feeling encouraged +hopeful. We love Mandi so stinking much. And we love YOU so stinking much! And that’s why we keep doing the podcast. Because these stories need to be shared. These voices need to be amplified. We learn SO MUCH from each other! And I love THAT so stinking much!Direct link to Episode 088 is in my profile or you can find our podcast, Cultivate a Good Life, in your favorite podcast app.PS — *Sigh* ... the good ol’ days of being all huggy with our friends, right?? When I watched North and South for a week, I was certainly picking it up, and when I roomed with a gal from Alabama. I’m susceptible.

I am not Mormon but I have grown up in a very large Mormon family. Sadly we have a lot of addicts in my family to. Every family member who has done an LDS "recovery" program has come out worse for wear. Growing up I always associated LDS programs as a place where you go to become a worse addict. I remember as a little girl one of my relatives who was a devout Mormon would freak out if a family member was in an LDS addiction program. She would say all scared "They brainwash you there. That is a place full of the Satan" I miss her. She was the best. My Mom and her would share stories about family members who would come out of these addiction programs and how messed up they were afterward. Most of those family members that went to that type of program passed away at a tragic young age. Some of our family members were in there for things like painkiller addictions. Two years later- Dead. Now, I can't get out of my head that Becky is promoting even more unhealthy programs. I guess she can't do a Podcast if you have an addiction you should go to a spa and you will be cured. Becky and her "douchey" moves.

Oh my gosh!!!! I just clicked through the stories and her "everyone can beat addiction, it just takes willingness" crap did it for me. I just sent a one sentence answer back to her. One, I'm sure, will not be replied to. I have dealt with a grandfather, dad, and husband. And only one has beat it. He was sober for 20 years and then he died of cancer. Crap.... My grandfather died alone. My husband, well, let's just say it's still being worked on. So FU Becky! Come live my life a bit and talk that sh*t to my face.

This "expert" who worked in a "recovery" program does not understand addiction. Does not get the science behind addiction. Usually with Becky, it's a roll my eyes kind of thing with her special notebooks. Anger at living in her little bubble when they were published and sent out on time when there was an earthquake. Where homes were condemned and businesses had to shut down because of damage.
This is beyond anger. It's dangerous misinformation that leads to depression, anxiety, and hopelessness of those trying to recover and their family members.

My daughter (not the one that said Beggy) walks into the room yesterday and says,”What’s up with Biggy Heggens lately?” 😆 After a brief review of the last couple of pages I see that nothing has changed. Oh, Beggy/Biggy.

Is she such a big "influencer" that she has to tag everything in every story? I went to hear for myself the addiction stories because that pisses me off (I just lost a sister-in-law, who was your "typical suburban mom") and she even tagged the puzzle company. Thirsty much?

I have been wondering about this for a long time. We all bitch about her here but this woman is promoting for profit dangerous information. I keep thinking that someday she will be the cause a death. Serious as can be that I thought this several times. It is even worse because her husband is in the medical field. I know some of you have mentioned that her Father was also a doctor.
To me she is intentionally promoting medical misinformation since she should know better to not discuss anything medical that she is not qualified for. I really believe that she thinks just because she comes from a medical background that she is also a medical expert. She needs to be reported since she is making a profit from these podcasts and influencer accounts.
