I watched with the sound off. So awkward. So self-conscious. So bad. 
ETA was that one bit inspired by Single Ladies? Face palm. Just... don’t... 

I need to remind myself to post the BH dancing video more often because I can't believe how many regulars hadn't seen it yet! It's a gem we analysed far too in depth when it was first released in 2016. 

Ah, the good ol' times of Becky going all out to announce her HOME by Becky Higgins collection and all the speculation on the board about the products she'd launch for that line (spoiler: she never launched anything besides stone wrap).  Innocent days of yore, I tell you.  

C'mon now, that's legendary/ You know, like 2Peas folklore. Lol

Linda....I found this wayyy back on page one, and could have written *almost* every single word of your post!

I could have written *almost* every word of you post! I always enjoyed her lettering, layout style, etc.  I still do!  I "scraplifted" a few of her layouts, too. Back in 2002, I submitted a layout to CK using one of her sketches, and they published it. I admit it,  I was thrilled !!!!!!  I think I made a layout about it, including a copy of the check they sent me. I also submitted to a few of her lettering contests, but wasn't chosen.  


What I DON'T like
are all the "influencer" (ugh, I HATE that word !!!)  things, and the over-use of buzzwords like INTENTIONAL, CULTIVATE, TRANSPARENT, and "YOU GUYSSSS!"   I don't want to be the kind of
person who doesn't like change, but I truly MISS the days BEFORE Instagram !!!!!

I miss the days when we'd get a new issue of CK in the mail and enjoy every page, every new idea.  
I miss the early 2000's so much!  My friends and I had a fun joke that we "worshipped" Becky Higgins.....it was all in fun, and we'd bow down and chant "BH !  BH! "  

When I went to Creating Keepsakes University San Antonio in 2001, I was sooooo
excited to have squeezed into one of BH's classes !!!!!!!!!  I could not believe I actually
got a much-coveted spot, because I'm pretty sure her classes filled up very quickly.
When the day came for her class, imagine my disappointment when they announced
she was ill and able to attend.  I think I made a fun layout about how disappointed we all were, using her lettering styles, etc.  

Sheesh, I made an entire album about  CKU and it is SO heavy and thick---lots of ephemera in that album !!  I also met several peAple from two peas---that was sooo fun, too!!!  We had a big welcome dinner at a great restaurant, and we were all marveling at how great it was to meet peas IRL, after only knowing eachother from a screen.  I haven't looked at my CKU album in years, and writing this out makes me want to revisit it. 


Remember Rebecca Sower? I LOVED the layout we did in her class.   Anna Griffin---ohhh, I loved (still love!) her papers!  Also took a class from Lisa Bearnson, and I have to admit, I was so thrilled to meet her, too. I admit to being a silly fangirl, and it was just all so fun.  I also took a FUN class with Stacy Julian---she was a hoot! 

Those were just some reallyyyy fun years !!! No instagram !  No buzzwords !  No one was trying to help you cultivate a transparent, intentional life! 

I just want to clarify for those who aren't familiar....Creating Keepsakes "UNIVERSITY" was just a fun, 2 or 3-day event where we were taught by "professors" / scrapbook "celebs"....

were soooo gorgeous, I hated to put photos on them!  


Back in those pre-Instagram lip gloss/ Movara resort/ life coaching/ be intentional/ etc. days----did you ever read the page-by-page reviews of the magazines that some peas would post?  I LOVED looking at my new magazine
while reading what others thought, it was really fun and I also learned a lot. Some peAple even commented on the ADS!  I miss the early 2000s ! 

After YEARS of putting it off I watched the wrapping paper video. I have so much second hand embarrassment! Not to mention extreme annoyance at her for portraying women so stupidly and/or thinking anyone would think that was cute!!

Thanks for the memories. I needed a laugh this morning and that wrapping paper video is still funny. I’m another one who loved Becky 20 years ago. Her Creative Companion book was one of my favorites for inspiration. After a while it’s like she quit trying. I went to a CKU and she was supposed to teach a class but called off sick. Ok, that’s valid, but the project she sent in was an 8x8 paper that looked like a tic tac toe board with different colored papers in the squares. That’s all we got and these classes weren’t cheap. And look at her now.

Same with mine! I had been SO excited to even get a spot in her class, so it was such a disappointment. Was this the CKU in San Antonio, either 2001 or 2002? If so, we may have met each other and/or been in the same classes.
