She is asking for donations for her brother's Go Fund Me (he has leukemia) and is having a raffle for 2 prizes of an hour of her personal time if you donate. I am tired of Go Fund Me accounts (donning my flame proof suit) for people who seem to be living a better lifestyle than myself. But obviously I don't know her brother's circumstances and am sorry for him and his family about his illness.

I wouldn’t mind donating but I wouldn’t want a chance to win her prize 🙄😂

I’ve seen quite a few people set one up not realizing they were about to hit the motherload. Baby boy bakery and the freckled fox come to mind. I mean it’s sad when someone dies but that’s what insurance is for. Baby boy bakery got something like $600,000 in hers when her son died. Like that’s great but did it really cost $600,000 to bury him? No it didn’t. The freckled fox kept receiving money from hers when she had already remarried (some reports are saying 40-ish days after her husband died). I mean whatever floats your charitable contribution boat but where I come from, your church and friends hold bake sales or raffles or auctions to help with money problems. No way would I take to the internet to ask strangers to just give me money.

I mean whatever floats your charitable contribution boat but where I come from, your church and friends hold bake sales or raffles or auctions to help with money problems. No way would I take to the internet to ask strangers to just give me money. Just as an aside (to the convo in general not at Julie specifically)... if you donate through "go fund me" that is not a charitable contribution for tax purposes. That's because people who post on that site are completely unregulated with what they do with the money--they might actually have leukemia and need it to help with medical expenses, but they could just as likely be funding a vacation or, in the case of TC a lifetime supply of Crackerbarrel. If you want to donate to a cause, and make sure that the money actually goes to that cause, you should donate to a legitimate charitable organization (most churches are ones). If you only donate to organizations that the IRS deem to be a legitimate charities (like a church or registered charity, called a 501(c)(3)) you can rest assured that the funds you give are actually going to the stated cause. If you donate through a legitimate charity and the funds are not actually used for the stated charitable purpose the person responsible can be required to pay hefty fines or be criminally charged. In contrast, if someone on "go fund me" flaunts a cruise vacation after collecting money for an alleged necessary surgery there is nothing anyone can do about it. And, if someone legitimately has cancer or is in need of funeral expenses for a sudden death, they can often organize something through a church or legitimate charity. Of course, I'm not saying that Becky is making it up, I don't think she would do that, but then again I don't know her personally. She is also well enough connected through her church to have them organize a legitimate, regulated collection if needed. I also would suspect that her family has fairly good health insurance that may cover much of the treatment. I think she used "go fund me" simply because it was easy and she knew people would contribute, not because she was trying to scam people, but I would urge people to be better safe than sorry and only donate to legitimate charitable organizations--or gift money to your actual friends in need.

She linked to the GFM homepage. LOL

Why did she have to turn something positive into something about her? It would be perfectly reasonable to give the Go Fund Me info via her Instagram page, and I’m sure her followers would donate. The hour of personal time with her just makes her post feel icky to me.

I'm tired of them, too...so many people aim to take advantage of others this way and yeah...I also judge hard when people ask for donations who are much higher class than my family and since they are probably BH adjacent in terms of means, I am judging hard here. Wouldn't be shocked to learn there is a top of the line insurance policy covering them, either. The giveaways are gross.

She is donating one hour of her time? One? What could you possibly accomplish in an hour with her? Maybe that one hour will be anxiety inducing, causing you to then book a trip to that spa so she can then feel like she helped you? Just an idea. And for frucks sake who in the hell gives away a prize for ango fund me donation? Holy hell.

Her business& social media took sudden turns when the other Becky came onto the scene. It’s weird.
She’s always been a little wacky with her instagram, but it’s gone totally off the rails now. It’s completely radio silent about any real products it’s bizarre.

Her business& social media took sudden turns when the other Becky came onto the scene. It’s weird. She’s always been a little wacky with her instagram, but it’s gone totally off the rails now. It’s completely radio silent about any real products it’s bizarre. That's exactly what I have thought as well. As soon as other Becky arrived, things shifted from lots of scrapbooking and a bit of personal stuff to absolutely everything but scrapbooking. From someone who was all about scrapbooking. It was her passion...her life...her business.... (from what she told us) Now it's not even on the back burner....it's like it's gone completely. I sent an email to Becky Higgins customer service asking if Becky still scrapbooks. I was told by Wendy that yes indeed Becky still scrapbooks. She does her yearbook once a year. I guess that's all she needs, which is fine. Some people don't need more than one album for a year. I don't have any issues with that at all. But then, how does she call herself a "documenting guru" when she doesn't actually document. Or at least she doesn't tell us she does. How would we know she's the "documenting guru" when we see no signs of it except at the beginning of the year. Do a yearbook...buy my class to tell you how.... Okay, done with talking about scrapping for the year, onto everything and anything else. See you again next January! I don't know...maybe I'm being to hard. I looked forward to her posts so much....new product...ideas... I don't remember the last time I saw a scrappy post. I suppose I could just unfollow her. But, I just keep hoping....

She talked about her money raising on one of the anxiety parts, not sure if its one or two. She is right proud of her plan. Although on there she did not say it was a GFM.

Bringing in BP and turning toward podcasting, sponsorships, and live events definitely detracted from the scrapbooking focus and I think it's on purpose since BP is supposed to be some type of branding expert. BH has stopped promoting her classes, products, the app, the "where my girls at Wednesdays" about what the team is doing, and certainly hasn't done more than show us her Italy coffee table book she made on the plane coming home back in February.
I think she just admitted to all of us she's turned the page (ha!) on her business interests and stop stringing us all along, we'd let it go. It's the vague "We're not closing! We're not going anywhere! SO many amazing things are coming!" that keeps her original customer base hanging on.

gotta tell you, a microphone is NOT what I thought that was when I first glanced at that picture... lol!! eta: and apparently I was not the only one with that thought... (although if that WAS the topic of her next podcast episode, I might actually listen to it!)

As far as the Go Fund Me, at first I was "Ah she is thinking outside of herself" only to be disappointed with the chance to win time with her. I wouldn't have donated anyway, just an observation.
Does Becky2 have a job or does she not need to work as well. (Nothing wrong with that. After 34 years, I am a stay at home wife.)
Another thought occurred to me; I am a part of the Facebook groups for PL (not associated with BH). Members on that group have been doing a better job of showing off the app than Becky ever was. Maybe with that she thinks it is no longer necessary to address it in social media. I disagree with that position, just a thought.

Because I'm a dork and I was curious I counted up all the "suggestion" posts in the comments. I gave 1 point per post that suggested a topic, diving them into scrapbooking and other topic. If a post had more than one suggestion on the same topic I only gave it one point. There were 40 posts with topic suggestions for BH. 25 were scrapbooking/memory keeping suggestions and 15 were other (parenting, personal health/improvement, building update, etc). One post had both so I gave each side a point. Even in black and white numbers it is pretty obvious what her followers want from BH LLC.

It's too bad BH doesn't have a sister. You know the one person who can tell you like it is and still be your person. Most people don't have friends who can tell you like it is like a sister can. Of course I am speaking strictly from my own personal experience. BH gives the impression of being surrounded by yes people.

Fyi I found PL envelope pages at my TM today. One was a multi pack that included a 12x12 envelope page. The other was a set of 2 8x8 envelope pages.

There are TONS of kits showing up at TM...Polka Dot Party MINI (those haven't been made since the early days and I think only HL carried them out of the big box chains) showed up at a couple TM's this past week as well as another 20+ (at EACH store) of the core kits which were a good mix of really old (midnight, cinnamon) and more recent releases just prior to the squared kits (the Heidi Swapp ones that were part of the last set to arrive at Michael's, one with 52 or fresh in the title and others I'd never heard of). I only glance at them because I'm waiting for squared corner kits to show up, but if this isn't a strong sign that PL is being dumped by AC, I don't know what is. Nothing else (not even the ancient stuff from k&co) is showing up in quantities like this.
Maybe someone ought to suggest she go to her local TM's to sign kits now?

Ironically, today was the day 5 years ago where I won one of the hide and seek games for a core kit. I also had complained to Teresa Collins' team about something I bought not being what was in the image (they changed the colors when they produced the line but sent retailers the graphics for the colors from before the change and the new colors were ugly) and as a way to make it up to me, they sent me 1-2 of EVERY. SINGLE. PIECE. of that collection and I got it in the mail on the same day that I found the core kit. I was over the moon about both. Both companies were reputable at the time, even though TC apparently had a lot of negative stuff being said about her even then...I just didn't know about it. How quickly times have changed.

scrapaddict702 which TC collection was shown with the incorrect colors? I have some of her older collections that I do use occasionally. A few of her collections weren’t my style but her basics (labels, alphas) are usable.

The letter stickers showed blue and were changed to taupe.

Hmmm... at least she finally acknowledged the questions?
She's still missing the huge point though--the "demand" for physical project life is just going down for her company because she's failing to advertise new designs, failing to improve her product to be competitive with others on the market, and failing to make it readily accessible to consumers (e.g. reasonable shipping costs or available in big box retailers). The "demand" for pocket page projects is not at all going down--in fact, Ali Edwards is THRIVING on creating kits that are specifically designed for pocket page documenting. Other brands are still doing it successfully after years and new companies are springing up. There is no "demand" for her version of physical project life because she made it that way... not because customers don't want it.
