I honestly dont even know what to say about her anymore. I mean what the actual heck... You(BH) might be okay not knowing but it is NOT okay to leave your customer base hanging and not know. Why even ask that question if you can't even answer consumers concerns?!?! Wow.

She's still missing the huge point though--the "demand" for physical project life is just going down for her company because she's failing to advertise new designs, failing to improve her product to be competitive with others on the market, and failing to make it readily accessible to consumers (e.g. reasonable shipping costs or available in big box retailers). The "demand" for pocket page projects is not at all going down--in fact, Ali Edwards is THRIVING on creating kits that are specifically designed for pocket page documenting. Other brands are still doing it successfully after years and new companies are springing up. There is no "demand" for her version of physical project life because she made it that way... not because customers don't want it. She will never acknowledge that. In one of her podcasts she throws shade at other companies who took the pocket page scrapping idea and ran with it because she created that system. In her mind, you shouldn't buy their products, hence, demand is down.

UGH She doesn't get it. Between this post + her stories, I am beginning to think she reads here and she is addressing us in her posts. But why? The BH brand is dead. Its not going to rise like a phoenix. Sure, she might be 'big' in Mormon circles. But the reality is this - she is a 'has been'. Most people don't care about her anymore. And instead of riding into the sunset, she keeps beating a dead horse that something else is coming. But she doesn't know what that is. Or when it's coming.

In her mind, you shouldn't buy their products, hence, demand is down. Sorry Becky, it’s fine if YOU hit the pause button & are ok with that. It’s great. I myself had a GIANT 8 year long pause. But I’m not selling things. People aren’t looking to me for inspiration on how to use *my* products. Many of us have just taken up memory keeping again and have discovered pocket scrapping for the first time. And *surprisingly* have the same reservations other seem to have had for years. I don’t like rounded corners all the time. I’ve passed on multiple BH kits because I don’t need hundreds of rounded corner cards. Inspiration - I’m not seeing any inspiration with the BH kits. I’m new to pocket scrapping and I might need to familiarize myself with the new technique. I buying where I see inspiration. Funny how much pocket scrapping inspiration I get from 12x12 paper companies & stamp companies. I Before I stopped scrapping I was a big fan of BH sketches I got tons of inspiration from her. Then she was like ‘that’s ‘wrong’ way to scrap I’ve got these kits it’s easier’. It was right around the time scrapping became difficult for me. Not the best way to sell a product by turning off people who aren’t there yet but, semi understandable. Now it’s like y’all are wrong nobody wants this. Stop asking questions. But I thank her for finally getting to the point ( sort of ) and I wish her well in her new endeavors. But I don’t think they are for me. Best wishes Becky

She will never acknowledge that. In one of her podcasts she throws shade at other companies who took the pocket page scrapping idea and ran with it because she created that system. In her mind, you shouldn't buy their products, hence, demand is down. That's just ridiculous, that's how capitalism works. And also pretty much all inventions--does she think we should stop buying different brands of cars because they didn't invent the concept? How about her apple products... they didn't invent the cell phone, a guy working for Motorolla did... so why is she okay with owning an iphone? She's just insane. UGH She doesn't get it. And instead of riding into the sunset, she keeps beating a dead horse that something else is coming. But she doesn't know what that is. Or when it's coming. The sad thing is, I think she could actually come back. If she came out with monthly project life kits (physical products, square corners, increased quality, good designers) and had a design team and adequate promotion they would probably thrive. If she focused on just albums and divided page protectors and sold them in big box retailers, they would sell out. If she hired good designers to create new core kits with squared corners and quality printing, advertised them and showed project samples, and sold them through various retailers they would thrive. She still has the name and connections to make it happen, she just doesn't care enough to do it and then whines when no one wants what she is "selling" which is really nothing at the moment. If she is done with scrapbooking and wants to become an influencer, fine, go for it. But she should sell the project life name while it still has some clout and move on. She will likely fail miserably because she is not the kind of person that people want as an influencer, but whatever. If that's her new dream, go for it. But why run a successful business into the ground in the process?

I think she just needs to admit to herself and everyone else that she is only going to support the app and be done with the rest. I think she worries how many people/followers she will lose if she does that, so she just keeps dangling stories and a crisis here and there.
I think we've all been there is some sort of capacity of not being quite sure of next steps, but we probable didn't do it on social media with a bunch of people relying on us for something.

If she focused on just albums and divided page protectors and sold them in big box retailers, they would sell out. This. There are very few quality D-ring 12x12 albums in big box stores. I almost always pick up divided page protectors at TM when I see them. I think we've all been there is some sort of capacity of not being quite sure of next steps, but we probable didn't do it on social media with a bunch of people relying on us for something. This again. I just listened to Amy Tangerine's podcast where she interviewed Stacy Julian. They got onto the topic of SJ selling off Big Picture Scrapbooks and she gave a coherent, heartfelt explanation that did not air dirty laundry or throw anyone under the bus. She also talked about how it was hard to do those things BEHIND THE SCENES and move on without any visibility. It's a stark contrast to us having a ringside seat watching BH's brand implode. She answered a question that post about delegating the PL content to her team and she said her team is taking a step back also. I feel for them being subject to her whims and moods.

The signs have been there for a long time now. Physical Project Life as we know it is done. I wish BH would have sold the company namesake vs running it into the ground. I have enough cards to last me forever and I've been stocking up on my favorite page protectors and a few albums that I really like before they are gone. There have always been other companies producing similar products so I don't see pocket scrapbooking going anywhere. I'm not going to follow BH down her new path, but wish her well.

Comment from someone on the I Don't Know Instagram: I hear you Becky, and I understand that you, as a person and as a company, have evolved, but your personal quest for sanity and your company's need to continue to work for your clients should be kept separate. Your loyal costumers, the ones that keep the company afloat even in uncertain times, need something that at this time you seemed unable to provide so wouldn't it be the wise thing to delegate the direction of the company in someone who can steer it in the right direction? As an individual I applaud your personal decisions but as a leader in the scrapbooking community you are coming really short. BH's response: I appreciate your comment and want to assure you that in no way do I plan to separate and compartmentalize things in my life that are so deeply intertwined. It’s just not black-and-white around here. It is tempting to let my feelings get hurt by your comment that I am “coming up short” as a leader but fortunately I am not leaning on other people’s opinions about my character. I am a strong woman with many weaknesses, doing my very best. And that is enough. Delegation and handing my brand over to someone else is not the solution.

oh, but she's in a 'unique' and 'tender' and (dare she say it) 'sacred' place right now... so STOP PICKING ON HER and making her cry, guys!!! /s it's about time she finally answered the 'physical PL product' question, at least. I am a strong woman with many weaknesses, doing my very best. And that is enough. Delegation and handing my brand over to someone else is not the solution. ^^^ Seriously?!? THIS is her answer to that question? I've seen her say this multiple times... people suggest separating her life and her brand into 2 Instagram pages, and she says 'nope- you get it ALL, like it or not.' And now she says '...you still want it? too bad; I don't want to give it to you any more. But I'm not going to let anyone ELSE take it over, either.' How selfish of her. (and short-sighted, from a business standpoint.) And how middle-schooler...

Wah, wah, wah...it's all about ME, ME, ME!!!!
At this point, she's probably intentionally ruining her brand even more because the people who still hang onto that style of scrapbooking with or without her aren't coddling her. She is so ugly.

She really gives women a bad name. She is the type of woman men propagate when they are insisting women are too emotional to hold positions of power.

Her pride is getting the best of her.
This is what I hear in her explanations. “No, no, I want my toys and for everybody to love me”
With the move into her new house looming, I predict it will be 4-6 months before anything related to project life will be mentioned. (Unless it is to show the pages she made of all the new wonderful things in her house). I can’t imagine being as open with my life as she is with hers.

I was just about to write what I thought could be an explanation for Becky’s refusal to share any PL content. But then as the more I wrote the more I realized that none of this makes sense. Because even if there was a legitimate reason that Becky needed to step back, there is no reason that a team member shouldn’t be able to pick up that slack. I don’t get why the whole team has to take a step back. Becky says that she was burnt out by her public wanting her to post inspiration on demand. And I just keep thinking that’s what your design team was for. But you know, she got rid of it.

I thought when she originally teamed up with AC, there would end up being mini-kits made with every line they came out with. This would have kept the product lines fresh, and I think would have sold well. Her physical products stopped selling well because nothing new was coming out!

Like the Plus One Mini and the other ones that came out at the same time. I’d love a CP All Heart mini collection so much!

At this point I am just hoping that someone is watching this unfold and is making plans to take start making new page protectors and albums (maybe even 9/12). I just can’t help but feel like something happened with American crafts that even the basics are not going to be made right now, I’m sure even her digital/app people use them.

Is it possible that she *has* already sold it and there is a waiting period before the new owner takes over? (To be clear: I am only speculating. I dont even know if there is a type of agreement legally that could happen like this). But we know she isn't promoting the brand. She isn't promoting the product. So why? Whats changed that made her not care about it? Even if she is tired of the product, she shouldn't want to be let holding piles of it in a warehouse.

Either way, the selling it makes sense about why she’s been so cagey.

While personally I really hope you guys are right guessing that she is selling/has sold the project life brand, I don't think that's the case. If so, she probably would have put something in her post about "big news coming around the corner" or "I can't share yet, but something big is coming" etc., like she always loves to do. Instead her actions are deliberately telling customers that no new products will be coming which is implying they should change their documenting style or find replacement brands. If someone was in the process of purchasing the brand they would want to make sure she doesn't do/say anything to actively push customers away from the brand anymore than she already is.
I think she has always just seen her career in scrapbooking as a hobby more than a career and she did it because she loved it not because it was making money, that was just a bonus. She stopped loving it, so she doesn't want to do it anymore and, financially, she doesn't have to. She never made business decisions based on what would make good business sense (i.e. a profit), instead she always just made decisions based on what she wanted to do. It was pretty clear that money wasn't the "bottom line" for her, her personal enjoyment was. She loved the attention, she loved being the one who got to decide things and that everyone looked to for inspiration. I think it also seemed like, while profit wasn't the goal, the business had to sustain itself and when it stopped producing enough income (with minimal work) to give her and her friends a hang out "office" and potentially even pay her friends to hang out with her all day, she lost interest. Even though she no longer wants to focus on project life anymore, she doesn't want to sell it because that means someone else will be in the spotlight and the project life name will no longer be purely about her. Yes, from a financial stand point selling would make sense, but that's not what she cares about so I highly doubt that is where things are heading.

That office was just their hang out spot but they got to call themselves “girl bosses” and that meant something to her. The downswing in her attitude came when they had to give up the office which coincided with bringing in Becky proudfit. I think Becky Higgins ego was sorely bruised in that process. She built that office custom to her. And the business was “thriving” so much she just simply NEEDED the office. But when it came time to move out back to her home office, suddenly that was what she needed but I wasn’t convinced. This whole thing has been her trying to save face because she fell flat on her face when none of her ideas panned out. I mean she thought she was going to partner up with Joanna Gaines. :eye roll:

I only followed her on IG and I finally had to unfollow today. Her more recent developments are ridiculous and it blows me away that she thinks PL should have continued to be viable without putting in business-related effort and listening to her customers. I have zero interest in her personal life and she has never impressed me with her talent or personality, especially with many "real", generous and talented scrapbookers out there. I can sympathize with her struggles, but she isn't someone I relate to IRL and frankly, she has always seemed out of touch with real life as *I* see it. I had an appreciation for her past products (mostly the collaborations with other designers and SU) and have no reason to not consider future purchases if PL sticks around, although I gravitated toward SC and other card designers a long time ago since they offered what I wanted and not in massive quantities. It seems pretty definite that if she doesn't sell the PL brand and refuses to separate her personal life from it, physical PL will forever be done.
