I don't dislike Becky, but she just makes it too easy sometimes... now she is selling photos she took and I am not kidding, the collection is called BH Loves Planet Earth. No offense but if I am going to display photos they will be my own. I know, each to their own and all that because there will be people excited to buy these: #BHLovesPlanetEarth

Since I stay away from politics and religion in most conversations (both online and IRL), I won't speak to that part of the conversation. I think what really bothers me about BH as a business person is this. Once she has milked everything she can out of a concept/product/style, she says, "Hey, everyone, we've been doing it wrong all this time. Now we're going to do it my new way. Everybody buy my new stuff now, because that was then, and this is now. Now is so much better/easier/trendier" That business model gets old really fast, and is a complete turn-off to people who don't want to throw all their scrapbooks away because, hey, ain't nobody got time for that anymore!

8. She’s up to 8 posts in the one day she’s been back to social media.
For cripes sake put your phone down and stop telling everyone how to live.

Curiosity got the best of me so I peeked at her Instagram. Yup, two posts for her podcast sponsors. Happily staying unfollowed. Also, my suggestion for promoting one’s podcast isn’t to call it “the podcast you never knew you always wanted” but maybe actually hint at what type of content a listener might expect from you. But again, I’m no marketing expert.

I remember when Becky first came out with Project 365, which was the precurser to Project Life. It was a kit that Becky created for Creating Keepsakes. The demand was so huge that the Creating Keepsakes website crashed and the phone lines were jammed. It was a huge PR nightmare for CK and it seemed like CK threw Becky under the bus. I was a newcomer to the CK forum at the time and I was drawn in by the drama. I have to say that at the time I was impressed with how Becky handled the fallout. She was very apologetic and communicated status updates at a time when CK went silent. She formed her own company to offer the product that was so in demand and renamed it Project Life. Somewhere along the line she lost her customer focus and business sense. I didnt know CK did that to Becky.

This = no new ideas. We have to wait and be STILL. 😂 I guess Becky spams too much in one day... but I think this is the email she was actually talking about: "I’m not popping in your inbox today to show you a new product, point you to the blog, or tell you about some news. Today is different. I feel inclined to share with you what’s been on my mind and in my heart. Mind if I ramble for just a bit? If you follow me/us on Instagram or Facebook, you are used to seeing tips + tricks, inspiration, new product announcements … that sort of thing. Today I want to share a little insight with you about something you won’t see on social media … but it’s a very significant and crucial part of running this business and it’s a part of ME. Your time is valuable, so I’ll be sure to bring my thoughts full circle so that what I’m sharing can ultimately feel very applicable to YOU.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking, pondering, strategizing, planning, and praying about this business. This has always been the case over the years, of course, but it really feels like my energy in these areas has been heightened this year. The past few weeks have been “extra thoughtful” and I’ve tried to be even more intentional about my pondering. Here are just a handful of the questions I’ve been pondering: Who are we serving and how can we best serve them?
What is our place — not just in this space of memory keeping but in the world?
What is our purpose — and how can we have MORE purpose?
How can we create the best balance between profitability and generosity?
What are the specific ways we can make a difference and really add value to people’s lives?
Where should I focus my personal time and energy in this business? What adjustments need to be made?
Who are the individuals and organizations that should be involved in our efforts?
I have a great team, great business partnerships, and a great husband. They all know and appreciate that I put a lot of thought into what we’re doing. They also put forth great efforts. They care about the work. That said, I personally carry a responsibility that is uniquely mine. Sometimes it feels like a burden; most of the time it feels like a privilege. No one cares more deeply about this company than me. It’s my name and my legacy and my passion. In the spirit of candid and honest transparency, here’s a glimpse of some of my business-related thoughts in this very moment: I have an idea for a podcast, an idea for a tv show, an idea for a subscription program, an idea for a live event, an idea for a charitable business model, ideas for more online courses … and yes, an idea for a new app. There is no shortage of ideas.
So what’s the issue??
First of all, each great idea is accompanied with doubts and fears and questions and concerns and insecurities. Second, I can’t — and don’t want to — do everything all at once. I understand my limitations. Third, times are changing and I’m evolving and your needs are evolving. So the issue is this — despite so many good ideas and intentions, I am left wondering if the ideas and intentions have us on the right track. Are we doing what we’re supposed to be doing and how we’re supposed to be doing it? (I always say women tend to overthink everything; apparently I am living proof of that sometimes — ha!)
I warned you about the rambling. Did I mention this was going to get so personal, too? As I mentioned, I’ve spent much time in prayer. I have a deep and sincere desire to align my will with God’s will for me, for my team, for this company, and for our influence in the world. I don’t have all the answers right now, but I FEEL the evolution. I FEEL that amazing things are happening. There is so much more to be unfolded. I’m excited! And nervous. And all the while, I continue to feel a rich sense of gratitude — not only for what we’ve been able to do and experience in the past 9 years, but also to be in the thick of some unknowns and to feel like there are more amazing things around the corner. I know, from the bottom of my heart, that this company has a place in DOING GOOD in the world. There is more for us to do. I’m just always trying to figure out what that looks like for us, you know?
So how does all of this apply to you? Well, you signed up to receive a regular email from us so I figure there’s a chance you’re interested in some of the grit, thought, and heart & soul that goes into this brand that I hope you feel somewhat connected to. But also — I want to testify that while hard work and hustle and putting your nose to the wheel is important to get what you want out of life … it’s ALSO important (actually, I’ll say it’s VITAL) to intentionally and proactively carve out the time to JUST. BE. STILL. To listen. To ponder. To think about the really big picture. To me, this means eliminating distractions, shutting down the computer, taking a break from scrolling, putting the phone away, closing the notebook full of to-dos, and earnestly praying. And then … listening. REALLY listening.
Whether you’re trying to grow your own business or work on relationship goals or figure out the best way you can serve in your community or church or otherwise … or perhaps you’re trying to figure out the next steps in your life … I urge you to turn off the noise. Take a break. Be alone — even if it’s just for 15 minutes a day for a full week, or maybe it’s an overnighter somewhere away from home. Ignore the lists and texts and dishes for a moment … and tune in to your heart. I have learned that I NEED this true stillness from time to time in order to truly re-evaluate and re-focus and re-energize and re-center my efforts.
I want to thank you for being here. You likely made it this far in my rambling because something resonates with you. Pay attention to whatever nudge or prompting you’re feeling. Don’t ignore that. What are you going to do about it? I am cheering you on, friend.
As for me? Us? Oh, trust me. We’re not going anywhere. You will continue to see wonderful things from BH. We are working on some awesome projects. When I carve out time for stillness and very reflective big-picture thinking, that doesn’t mean the company’s wheels stop turning. We are regularly producing and launching and sharing as long as you continue to benefit from our efforts. If there’s something we do / have done that you have found to be particularly meaningful and helpful in your own life, I’d love to hear from you. Reply and tell us what you find the most valuable … or tell us what you would LOVE to see us pursue. It is often YOUR feedback that really helps us know how to steer this ship. Thank you for that."

If I were going to buy nature pictures I’d get them from an professional photographer. I think Becky has hit a new low. this is from her website- apparently you get the digital images for $2.49, not even a physical photograph! "The Butte at Dawn Collection includes 4 photographs in 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 sizes. We don't want you to stop with the digital images! We want you to print them and enjoy them, so included in your download is a coupon for 10% off of your rectangular print order of $10 or more.** Also included in the download is a letter from Becky explaining the history of her nature photography and the significance behind it." ^^^ I almost want to read this-- I can just imagine how pretentious it probably is... ETA: "Mind if I ramble for just a bit?" OMG, a BIT?? she rambled a LOT!! ETA2: "If there’s something we do / have done that you have found to be particularly meaningful and helpful in your own life, I’d love to hear from you. Reply and tell us what you find the most valuable … or tell us what you would LOVE to see us pursue. It is often YOUR feedback that really helps us know how to steer this ship. Thank you for that." (basically, the way I read it, Becky wants her fans to tell her where her business should go next.)

Since when is she in the photo printing / photo book service? Aren't there lots of websites that do that already?? ETA: my bad- I see that I was wrong about Becky's product offerings. I read this: now she is selling photos she took and I am not kidding, the collection is called BH Loves Planet Earth. and my brain turned that phrase into photo BOOKS containing photos that she took. Which I was like, 'why would anyone want that?' lol. Selling photo books and prints because it 'goes with' Project Life makes sense, I guess...

Since when is she in the photo printing / photo book service? Aren't there lots of websites that do that already?? This started when she started offering book printing straight from the app. Customers wanted it and it took forever to get it up and running and then when she did, it was like $400 for a small book. When pro sites are offering them for under $200. So she’s trying desperately to get you to print stuff which is why she’s branching out with the gimmicks; recipes, photos, etc. to get more users to her printing biz.

Has anyone listened to her new podcast yet?
While I feel like BH is still her vague, humble-braggy, fake self-depreciative self, her cohost, Becky Proudfit seems very genuine and more down to earth. I've been surprised at how much I've enjoyed listening to her speak on these topics and be real and honest. I'm only on Ep. 3 so my opinion may change, but as a whole, the podcast is not as cringe worthy as I thought it would be.

Is it just more "cultivate your best life", Mormon sales pitch, "Guys, I have these favorite things" kinds of stuff (like her IG) or is it something else? Don't know the other Becky. Are they friends, two women w/similar outlooks, something else? I can't understand what I would possibly get out of it. My podcast list is full an full of really thought-provoking, sciency, finance, governmental experts. I don't think I could replace any of those for more "You know what, Guys...."

Each episode has has a different theme so far. The Beckys have only been friends for the past few years. I get the impression the other Becky is a Mormon, but through the three episodes I've listened to, she's only mentioned praying a few times (and it was related to a cancer diagnosis). BH is still definitely of the "you know what, guys..." and they have sponsors for the podcast. She also tries to mention the PL App any chance she gets. However, the other Becky seems to balance her out a bit. I might change my mind as I listen, but it's not awful...

Just checked Becky's IG stories: 8 are about Beddy's Bedding (one of her podcast sponsors) and 2 are for Details 2 Enjoy (another podcast other sponsor), 3 are for Jutmade.com (anothaaa sponsor) in 24h. Are you kidding me?
