My podcast list is full an full of really thought-provoking, sciency, finance, governmental experts. I don't think I could replace any of those for more "You know what, Guys...." Am I way off topic in saying that I want your podcast list? lol Sounds right up my alley! ETA- I'm terrible at cutting these quotes correctly...I know I'm quoting zingermack but can't make it show up that way! lol

Major podcast fanatic here as well. Are you listening to The Dream (currently airing weekly)? It's about MLM structures and it's fascinating. They look at how they came to be, why women dominate them, what happened in the American legal system that gave them a loophole to exist with the Amway case, etc.

Since I stay away from politics and religion in most conversations (both online and IRL), I won't speak to that part of the conversation. I think what really bothers me about BH as a business person is this. Once she has milked everything she can out of a concept/product/style, she says, "Hey, everyone, we've been doing it wrong all this time. Now we're going to do it my new way. Everybody buy my new stuff now, because that was then, and this is now. Now is so much better/easier/trendier" That business model gets old really fast, and is a complete turn-off to people who don't want to throw all their scrapbooks away because, hey, ain't nobody got time for that anymore! Yes!

I see BH is posting about her, OMG you guys!, 50k LISTENS! Not sure which service she uses to count listens, but it's interesting, because most people count success in podcasting based on downloads, streams and/or subscribers, not listens.
A listen is any amount of time someone clicks on a podcast. A download is self-explanatory. A stream is listening for at least x amount of time (usually a minute or more) depending on the analytic service's metrics.
Anywho, I've finished all the episodes of 'The Dream' and can't wait for more. Have started listening to Startup again - which I'd stopped listening to - but they did a 6 episode series in the summer about starting up a church that's been awesome.

Which I do get excited because I’m a nobody...just saying.

I've listened to the podcast. It's pretty clear that Becky H has such a privileged life she couldn't even think of examples of struggles when that was the topic. It's actually probably a good thing but then don't do shows about "Everything Happens for a Reason" and "Check Your Marriage Temperature".
The other Becky uses a humor that just doesn't work for me.
The podcast isn't for me...and that's fine, not everything has to be for me. I wish them success.
The one thing I'm always surprised about is that there seems to be a lot of Instagram woman who claim to be positive and want to uplift women and then they mean girl their friends. Yesterday on Instagram BH she posted how neat and organized her suitcase was and how messy the other Becky's suitcase was. Why would you put that on Instagram? It was a mess. The only reason is to make yourself look "better". It's mean.

Privileged is about it. Let’s face it, in Becky’s world that good life you should be cultivating requires some significant cash.

And when a fragile ego has sensed a kind soul who'll "take it", all bets are off and it's oh-haha-it's-ok-we-are-friends war. Becky H. likely read the glowing feedback about her co-host (that's what I'm seeing online anyway) and retaliated with the messy suitcase exposé because she feels threatened.
TLDR; BH needs a therapist, not a podcast but hey, a therapist won't make her any money.

It's actually probably a good thing but then don't do shows about "Everything Happens for a Reason" and "Check Your Marriage Temperature". As I've listened to more podcasts, I've noticed BH doesn't actually share any real personal details or flaws beyond a very superficial, "You guys, I struggle with this." There is no depth or personal reflection beyond lip service. The ego is such a fragile thing, it needs feeding left and right. When the other Becky gives real examples from her life about her struggles or not-so-shining moments, BH uses it as a launching point of "here's how you fix it" with her "tips" and "advice." BH definitely enjoys "fixing" or "helping" the other Becky with her issues. The more I listen, the more I can't not hear BH's condescension.

I got hooked. It's so fascinating to me that folks still get caught up in MLMs when we have the internet and calculators. I got mad listening to the podcast and thinking about how those companies take advantage of some really desperate people (who are mostly women). It's so frustrating that the FTC can't shut them down when 99% of people lose money.

I am starting to change my view on Becky. I do think she has a bit of a mean girl streak or she's very intimidated by other women. Which is the same thing and usually brings out a mean girl streak. First she posts about that firing. Now she is organizational shaming. What The? Who cares if your suitcase is neat and your friends isn't. I am a neatnick and I would probably slam my case shut because I would be embarrassed my OCD was showing or I would be trying to mess things up in my case, lol.

Did she fire Toni and then hire Becky P? That woman is everywhere with her now- including Pinners so she looks like an employee not just a co-host on a for free podcast. The other day she was working at a desk in the office.
It seems odd that they were friends, Toni was let go and now she’s moved in.

Becky's IG:
"We’re 9 years deep into this Becky Higgins business and what started as a simple kit, I honestly thought this would grow to be maybe a couple new kits per year and that’s it (ha!). I’m so thankful for growth, and for the shifting and the evolution and the adjusting of our sails and the things we’ve tried and the ways we’ve messed up and how we’ve always known to try, try again. . Well, now’s not the time or place to go into ALL the detail of SO many ways that our company has evolved, but one thing that I’ve learned is that as a team, we need to be increasingly wise with our TIME. We’re a small-but-mighty team and we’re all stretched pretty thin as working moms that have actual human limitations. So in taking a hard look at what’s working, what’s not working, where we should be investing our time and resources, where we need to shift some things and all of that … we’ve decided that it’s time to take a break from having an official Project Life Creative Team. . Now before you get all sad, let me explain what’s really EXCITING about this: Instead of the extensive effort that goes into the management and organization of a Creative Team, we’ve realize that we can keep sharing Project Life pages just the same but with waaaaaay less effort behind-the-scenes AND in a way that involves waaaaaay more of YOU!! Instead of limiting ourself to just a handful of people each year, ANYone has a chance of being featured on our social media, blog, etc. . . Did you catch that?? EVERYONE wins in this decision! We still share the awesome pages and tips. You still see the regular inspiration. AND (!!) … now you have better chances of being featured! "
Did you catch that?!?! No more paying people for content. Now people get a chance to be "featured" instead.

How hard is it to send a list of things they want and organize photos in a blog post? They actually look for the simplest iterations of PL possible to feature on their teams anyway. The effort would come in when they try to appeal to everyone.
But no. They want the consumers to not only enjoy the use of PL style scrapbooking, they also want us to sell their product for them and clamor over each other for that opportunity. In order to maybe be featured on someone else's social media account. Got it.

I guess I agree with Becky- less inspiration to use the products she makes + less visibility and focus on physical product from her company = money that can be spent elsewhere. It really is a win-win!

Lets face it - BH gave up on PL awhile back. She has moved on to trying to impress Joanna and Chip, making wrapping paper and wooden signs. She isn't interested in having a creative team for PL because she isn't interested in PL.

The way she writes these things you’d think her team are the only working moms on the planet. Women all over the world make sacrifices at work and at home. You want to run a business, it takes time. I agree with mom she’s over PL and doing anything but the minimum to crank out digital kits is too much for her. Unfortunately, I think that all those other things she’s trying to sell is done better by others. I wonder, other than the PL app, is anything she’s doing actually bringing in profit? I scrap almost exclusively PL, but I don’t use her product any longer because I don’t do digital and other than old product nothing new is in physical form that I can buy locally.

Gosh, that's a very wordy post for Instagram! I wouldn't have bothered to read all the way to the bottom. I really don't need to hear about them being working moms with "actual human limitations" and all that nonsense. Why not just say "this year we're opening up this opportunity to everyone, here's what to do" and leave it at that? Are that many people really waiting with bated breath for the DT call? If people are excited about their brand then they'll be excited about this. If people are cynical and over it they'll have unfollowed her ages ago and just discuss this "opportunity" here instead, lol I wonder how many applicants they were getting these days anyway. I can't really see why someone would want to do the most simple style of PL and then go to a bunch of trouble to share it. Surely the people who want to share are the ones who put a ton of effort and creativity in? Hasn't that always been their challenge? That the people who just want to slide 4x6 photos into pockets and make a note on a journaling card with a black pen aren't really the "design team" type? (Not that I've looked at their DT posts in years, so I have no idea - and I have nothing against however people chose to do their PL, but I seem to recall the posts got pretty boring when they were so basic).

The way she writes these things you’d think her team are the only working moms on the planet. Yeah, that... I'm guessing it has to do with their religious culture as much as anything. But maybe BH really does feel so stretched, like no one else has to make these choices and sacrifices. She does always come across as pretty spoiled. (She's not leaving her kids with a babysitter at night to work 2 extra jobs to pay the rent... I don't think she has any real sense of the place of privilege she's speaking from).
