Agreed. No thanks. Everything I've heard about her sounds like the opposite of sweet. Her product seemed awfully expensive for what it is, and I'm a CPR stamper, so it doesn't sound durable enough for me. The idea is great - but not at all unique, and her attacking people who made their own versions is just ridiculous.
Plus, I don't appreciate having someone else's religion pushed at me on a totally un-religious product. I will respect a person's religion as long as they don't shove it in my face. Especially if their actions don't reflect their beliefs. I think she must have skipped some pretty important Sunday School lessons... do unto others and all that jazz...

Well inspired by the 'settling' of the lawsuit, I bought a mini TH one. I already had the regular size one. No way in freaking hell will I EVER give a penny in her direction, or to any company she is associated with. I am basing my decision on how she has treated people on this board.

After the rants and threats on the other thread I would never give that Petunia woman a penny of my hard earned money. I love my Tim Holtz platform. I now actually use my stamps. Having a backup does seem like a good idea so I picked up one on Amazon. They’re limiting them to prime members so I guess when they’re gone, they’re gone. BTW I was at the stamp convention last weekend and a woman was trying to decode between the TH and MISTI platforms. I filled briefly gave her the rundown and she she looked shocked. And she picked Tim’s platform. @pimklady, LOL at going all MISTI nazi

I am all for her protecting her rights but she could have been so much more professional. She is a vile human being who uses her religion as a weapon. I have said so much about this. You said it perfectly and it's short to the point.
I am the only one that is worried is she is doing a collab with Tonic she might insist on that damn religious quote on future Platforms?
I do think she had enough evidence that Tim did copy. Tim does copy. We all love Tim but we know that. I even told him one day that could happen. That was years ago. He doesn't copy to be mean. He just fascinated by things. I think she knows she will never make her revenue again so has put Tonic in a corner to repay her lost revenues with a collab. It wouldn't surprise me. I seriously doubt Tonic wanted this. I bet they would like to have a large amount of rattlesnakes in their offices than do this.
To everyone on the fence about buying a platform. I recommend it. You all know I won't buy anything unless I research it to the point of no return. My DH bought me Tim's platform for Mother's Day. I love it. There are a lot of good platforms on the market. For those of us who are messy CPR stampers this one is perfect for our personality. I am really enjoying it. I have fibro/lupus. The stamp platform has made stamping easy for me. Those with mobility issues it is a dream. I bet the SU and WRMK ones are great too. My advice on the platforms look for the one that fits your stamping personality. Messy CPR Mixed Media girls Tim's is the perfect one.

I had been saving for a MISTI. After reading her posts here, though, and how she treated customers who had MISTIs that cracked, I walked on past them at conventions. It was hard to wait for the Tonic/Tim Holtz version, but I am glad I did. It works great for me, and I love it. I have two of them. One to use and one to share, but sometimes a 2nd one can come in handy. I thought another company bought the rights to the MISTI. Was it Hampton Arts? So how can Tonic have a business relationship with them, unless they bought out Hampton Arts (or whoever it was that partnered with MSP)? I think a lot of us have questions about the announcement, and what it means for the futue. Regardless of what happens, though, I'm glad I bought my TH stamp platforms when I did. Hampton Arts merely copied her design while it was still pending it's patent. It had just shown up (within weeks of the patent being granted) at Michael's and was almost immediately pulled from the shelves and not allowed to be sold any longer. Not sure where you heard that from, but it is wrong information. I was asking if it was Hampton Arts, because I couldn't remember who was the first company to team up with her in some way. I only remembered the company name had started with an "H." I was wondering if it was Hampton Arts, even though I did know they were sued for a blatant copy. Just Tricia said the MISTI was in a Hero Arts catalog, so that answered my question. I do wonder what kind of business relationship the announcement was referring to. While it may have been less expensive for Tonic to work out something with My Sour Petunia, if they do team up with her, a lot of us will balk at buying anything that would put money in her pocket. Amayalylac, I am a CPR stamper, too. I love the Tonic stamp platform and am very happy with it.

I’m curious where are all these vile things she has said. I’d like to see it for myself. I do have the misti and love it. I’m neutral about the person until I can actually see for myself the things she said first hand and not that has been discussed here so frequently. I can’t say I’m one of those rabid fans. I’m neutral right now. I like the too. I I use my misti all the time but when it breaks I have the Tim holtz version that I only used 2 times. I didn’t like it so much as the plate would come out of the hinge when I tried to stamp. I’m sure there is a learning curve to it but I decided to use my misti until it worked no more. My misti is my most used tool aside from my scissors in my craft room. She actually came on this forum and spoke to Don with a disgusting attitude about the stamp positioner he had made himself, before the MISTI. There is a thread on here somewhere where you can see it for your own eyes. I’ll try and find it. ETA: Here 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/18121/misti-stamping-tool

In my opinion, that showed her true colours more than anything else. Crappy CS, defective product and all those things are still business-related (although her name was directly attached to those terrible practices) but personally going after individuals who made a platform for their own personal use and threatening to sue them made me so angry.

I'm nervous with the 'working together in the future' statement. It makes me wonder if a new version is going to come about but that MSP will get a cut of all sales. If so, then I won't buy another one because I don't want to support her. She bullies her customers...she is not the type of person I want to see succeed in life. Maybe the lawyers made them say that as part of the settlement?

I have 2 Hampton Arts platforms and 2 We R Memory Keepers (all different models), so I have no need for the Tim Holtz platform(s). I wouldn't give that Petunia bully a penny of my money. What bothers me more than anything else is her bullying DIYers who want to share their ideas. Over on Splitcoast Stampers, people who are speaking out against her are being warned: A reminder - negative posts about human beings are a violation of our site posting rules and can result in a ban from the site. Please be kind and try to make the crafting community a better place with your content. (Does anyone else see the irony here?) That's probably because she's a Platinum Partner and friends with the Community Manager and mods there. I'm not sure that she actually qualifies as a "human being" either. I'll quote Captain America here: "I don't like bullies."

I am another one who will never buy from her. The way she went after Don really ticked me off. jstblondie, If you read the thread in the stamping section; she went back and deleted all of her attacks (I mean comments ). I ended up buying TH and I love it! I can’t believe that her magnets also broke and she was once again NOT IN THE WRONG. Sheesh.

I have both TH and the Misti and prefer TH. I think I paid $60 for the Misti and rarely use it because I know it cracks easily. I won't ever buy another Misti either.

I reread that thread recently, and I wondered if she had edited her comments, because they seemed a lot milder than I had remembered. However, someone had also quoted one of her posts, and that matched what her current post said, so I wondered if I just remembered wrong. Yes, she threatened legal action against Don, and that was still there, but I remember her comments being a lot less polite than what is there now. I also remember her posts being a lot lengthier. She definitely came across far more negatively back then. Is my memory faulty? Note: I did edit my comments in this post down to focus better on the point.

I am in the market for a stamp press and I would not consider the MISTI just because of how the owner has acted and spoken to others. Heck, I wouldn't even care about the Bible verse or whatever on it. I would normally be all about supporting a small business but when the business owner is very publicly an asshat....

Is my memory faulty? Was it worse at the time? I still feel that she overreacted. I still will not buy anything from her. Her poor customer service, regardless of her comments, is a big part of my decision. I bought the Tonic travel platform, since some seemed to think it worked better than the regular Tonic platform. Your memory isn't faulty. She attacked him. And others who tried to defend him. The irony is that the day I found the thread I had just heard of MISTI and I was doing research to see if I wanted one. As soon as I read her comments I was like absolutely not. I'm sure she erased them because she knew that they showed her to be the awful person she is.

Don wasn’t the only one she went after. But he was the only one who stood his ground. scrappyesq When she threatened Internet law; weren’t you the one who said she didn’t have a case because you are an Internet attorney? That post made me 😆. I loved it. It shut her down quick and I think that’s when she went back and edited her posts.

Petunia went in and edited her original posts, which weren't nice or mild. She was nasty and bullying in the original posts. Now the thread over on Splitcoast has been closed because Lydia didn't like what was being said about her friend Petunia. That site smacks of favoritism, hypocrisy, and bullying. If they don't like what you're saying, they just smack your hands and close the thread. People talk about companies all the time over there, but she's different because she's a friend and a Platinum Partner. I wish Lydia would just say that and not try to hide behind rules that are interpreted and enforced at her personal discretion. I'm done with that place. They have good resources, but I'm finished with the rest of it. I don't like bullies. Or hypocrites.

Here’s the thing ~ I am all for people protecting their design, trademark, patent, and / or copyright.
My issue with her is that she took an age old design ~ a letterpress ~ and acted like she created it. Not that she reinvented it, repurposed it, tweaked it; she made it seem like she created a brand new idea. And then went after people who created their own versions. Which is exactly what she did.

I rarely participated in message threads at SCS in the past, and I haven't even looked at their message boards at all for at least three or more years, so I have not personally witnessed what has happened over there.
I do appreciate knowing that my memory is not senile about what was said in the MISTI threads.

That is precisely the issue that bothered me most. I was totally shocked that the patent was even granted. Tonic may have felt it was less expensive to grant concessions than continue the lawsuit. It wouldn't be the first time that something like that has happened. If winning the lawsuit becomes more expensive in the long run, it could be business suicide to continue. I won't refuse to buy Tonic products, but I won't want to buy any future Tonic stamp platforms if it will add to MSP coffers.

And the TH version has a lot of significant changes to it. The flip lid, the open sidedness, the shape. It is very different then hers and I still don’t understand why she keeps winning. Her “invention” is a copy of an item Older then refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, telephones, etc. Why is she consistently able to shut down variants of “her” invention but our market is saturated with different companies making phones, ovens, flavored waters, etc that are more alike to each other then the TH platform is to her Misti?

Just a thought - I've been thinking about the working together phrase and I bet Tonic will be changing the name of theirs to MISTI. And they are paying her some sort of private labeling fee. ETA: I just saw JustTricia 's post and it makes me think this might be the case.

That's what pisses me off the most about her. Acting like the world had never pressed ink onto an image swiveled onto paper by a hinge. Do you know how many small "guillotine" trimmers there are? I have two CM ones. There's a Stampin' Up one, a Tonic one, a Fiskars one, a WeR one, a SwingLine one, etc., etc..... You shouldn't get to patent an idea that has been around for CENTURIES (unless you have an "in" in the patent office).
