Look further at the crafting world ~ every company that carries dies has rectangle, circle, stitched, etc. when one company came out with layered stamps, everyone came out with layered stamps. One company released llamas, everyone released llamas.
Same with the trimmers listed above.
Lawn Fawn’s stamp shammy, then Gina K’s.
Avery Elle storage pockets; multiple companies now.
I follow several stamp companies and YT creators. “Kindness matters”; Instagram photos of different company owners all together at the same outings; companies praising each other.
And then there’s MSP suing companies and threatening to sue individuals.

There's this facebook group I'm a member of, and someone posted something about the whole Misti/Tim Holtz thing, and a ton of people expressed their rightful (and correct ) negative opinions about MSP. Then one of the admins posted a long thing today about how she had to "remove" a "certain post" because it was "bashing" a company and told everyone to keep their discussions "positive". UGH. Thankfully, one person disagreed. I should probably just leave the group. The idea that all posts about something have to be positive and you can't say anything negative about a company really rubs me the wrong way. I believe that whether or not to buy from a company should depend on more than just their product(s), and I think many people feel the same way. If someone/a company acts objectionably, and people are considering purchasing their product(s), they should have access to ALL of the information--not just a sanitized, positive version. Bottom line: If you want people to buy your stuff, act better.

I am another that made my own. Loved that thing. BUT I also wanted and got the HA Stampaholic one, the pretty aqua one. I think that is the one that was at Ms until it wasn't. I then thought I needed the WRMK while watching HSN. I also bought the TH stamp platform and after reading the stuff last week, ordered the sleeve for that. While I would like to go ahead and buy the travel platform, I think I own enough of the others that I will pass. I would like to buy those corners and such from MSP but that person will not receive one penny from me. I wish another company would come out with them but we all know how that will end up.
I wonder what Tonic would do, if anything, if all the crafters started sending emails to the company about not buying product that would be connected to her. I love my Tonic items and would hate to not ever have anything from them. If I find out something I want is connected to her, I will just have to make do without it.

Do you know how many small "guillotine" trimmers there are? I have two CM ones. There's a Stampin' Up one, a Tonic one, a Fiskars one, a WeR one, a SwingLine one, etc., etc..... Excuse me, beloved scrapbookers, but it's time to contribute to the French economy. Tick tock, you're overdue! *passes béret around for collection* Don't leave us waiting or we'll start a revolution...

After the incident with don brought her nastiest to my attention, I started reading more stories. The one that got to me was one of msp bullying and intimidating a young girl, who I think I remember being learning disabled. She had built a basic diy stamp patform (2 sheets of plexiglass and a hinge) and uploaded to youtube. Nope, that bitch threatened her too.

Lydia said on the Splitcoaststampers post that Tonic and MSP will be working together. This is her quote about the situation: "They are going to be working together and are both pleased about it." It's on the third page of the thread about stamping platforms. She shut down the thread shortly thereafter. I remember someone on the stamping forum on here saying that MSP threatens the design team members who don't speak positively about her product: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/64726/craft-bullying-happened-misti (Sorry if that link was already posted or discussed, I haven't read through this entire thread)

I remember when the mistifans group was on facebook, one member lost her mom and posted about it, and Iliana told her (paraprased) "this group is for stamping, not therapy". It was around the time she was closing the group to move to scs and people who preferred the facebook format were unhappy and she was pretty pissed that they were unhappy and ended up closing the group earlier than planned. Then she proceeded to bully and threaten a new group (formed from the members of the original group who didn't want to go to scs) because of the word misti in their name.

Off to look at the measurements. If she gives them anywhere. I am sure she doesn't want anyone making those. Wonder if I will be threatened for making those?!?

I am another one who will never buy from her. The way she went after Don really ticked me off. jstblondie , If you read the thread in the stamping section; she went back and deleted all of her attacks (I mean comments ). I ended up buying TH and I love it! I can’t believe that her magnets also broke and she was once again NOT IN THE WRONG. Sheesh. I reread that thread recently, and I wondered if she had edited her comments, because they seemed a lot milder than I had remembered. However, someone had also quoted one of her posts, and that matched what her current post said, so I wondered if I just remembered wrong. Yes, she threatened legal action against Don, and that was still there, but I remember her comments being a lot less polite than what is there now. I also remember her posts being a lot lengthier. She definitely came across far more negatively back then. Is my memory faulty? Note: I did edit my comments in this post down to focus better on the point. I reread the thread yesterday and I also came away from it thinking that when I originally read it, I vehemently disliked her posts. This time around they didn't seem that bad (not great, mind you, just not horrible). I'm glad to know I didn't imagine it.

I think it's so sad when humans treat each other so unkindly...I never ordered the MISTI it was too pricey for my taste but I do have the TH platform and really like it. But I am very pleased not to have given any of my money to such mean individual.

You can duck brand packing tape (or bigger brands in smaller rolls at DT) for a buck. Have you tried taping the top? Won't help with staining inks like staz-on but would help with other inks.

I haven't tried tape. I did laminate the first one but because the ink didn't soak in it was messy if I forgot to wipe it off. Which was practically every time. 😄

I went back and read that 3 page thread on platforms on SCS and it sure seems like bullies like to stick together! Yeesh no wonder that I rarely go there, that mod sure gets hand-slappy! I'm just going to sit here and happily wait for my travel platform to be delivered ! Any recommendations of new stamp sets I "need"?

MSP is gonna need those platform proceeds to gear up for the knockoffs on Ali in a month. 😂 Those sellers get shut down, then pop right back up like the Energizer Bunny. The cost alone to draft and airmail cease and desist letters to China for 200 sellers is gonna make some nice billable hours for her lawyers.

I mentioned in another thread that I bought the WRMK Precision Press Advanced. I use it the most but I have the two sizes of TH which I also like. My two Mistis don’t stamp well near the bumpers. If you are unable to get a TH this might be one to consider. They are reasonably priced 20.-24 with a coupon or sale at Michaels and Joann online and in some stores. I purchased two of these and three extra plates. The pegs are no problem and they stamp very well. I like that they don’t have bumpers or a hinge. No matter what they come up with I will never buy anything associated with Petunia. I find it hypocritical for someone who has been so spectacularly rude and menacing toward people to include a bible verse on her product.

I just make cards rather than scrapbooking, and I’ve steered clear of anything related to the Scrap Gals after reading about them on here. It gave me joy when I was in Tuesday Morning recently and saw that a bunch of the Project Life stuff was there. I was like “Mwahahahaha! You can stay there and rot!”

You would think they'd be smart enough to pay attention, but they probably feel like the majority of their customers are unaware of her practices. I'd be fine boycotting Tonic if they collaborated with her - there are plenty of other products out there for me. But I know there are plenty of crafters who love Tonic product enough to look past it. Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I don't think it would make a bit of difference to them. (ETA "them" referring to Tonic)

Having seen up close and personal how even an unjust lawsuit can drag on and cost a fortune, I do not really blame Tonic. Working out a compromise can be a matter of survival if a lawsuit is levied against them. Most crafters are unaware of anything personal about MSP, especially her behavior here. I have never really bought much from Tonic. However, my take on this is that I will not be boycotting Tonic products EXCEPT anything related to their future "new and improved" stamp platform that will presumably replace the ones being discontinued. Anything related to future Tonic stamp platform models WILL probably benefit her. IMO, she is not really going to a big player at Tonic like Tim Holtz. She may have elbowed her way in via the lawsuit to get royalties on anything related to stamp platforms, but Tonic has other products that are not related to her. She isn't likely to be making money on Tonic's other products. I know how lawsuits can financially and emotionally destroy companies and individuals. I don't blame Tonic for caving. It may have been the only way they could survive. Supporting them by buying their other products is not enriching MSP. Only buying their future "collaborated" products (presumably only the ones that are stamp platforms or related items) will benefit her. Just my two cents.

I'm with Scrapnana. Tonic has too many really good tools - and Nuvo drops! and great customer service, so I can't see myself boycotting them entirely. But anything related to stamp platforms or that is branded with MSP will not make it into my craft room.
And really, what did she invent? A stamp press that is easily demonstrated to be a copy of a tool in existence for ages, corners which were actually created by fans of her tool before she made them out of acrylic and started selling them, and a case. Oooh, a ~~~ case ~~~! What an incredibly original idea; no one has ever thought of making a tool tote before ever!!!

Here’s the thing ~ I am all for people protecting their design, trademark, patent, and / or copyright. My issue with her is that she took an age old design ~ a letterpress ~ and acted like she created it. Not that she reinvented it, repurposed it, tweaked it; she made it seem like she created a brand new idea. And then went after people who created their own versions. Which is exactly what she did. Ditto. I have the full size TH platform and just ordered the travel one from Joann's last night.

Corners? Remember the cheapo old stamp positioners, some came with thin L shapes. Also, at your local office store you could look in the area of drafting stuff for all kinds of solutions.

Last night I was looking for a long time for small drafting rulers and such. I found some small-ish triangles that were plastic that would probably work and some small L rulers that are metal. I'd like to find plastic L rulers instead. If anyone finds anything usable please share.
