Since I've done nothing but whine on the board lately I figured I owe you all something good. A good stiff Margarita. A little time consuming but so worth it - it will change your life.
4 shots of Hornitos Plata Tequila 3 shots of honey simple syrup (1 cup water, one cup honey brought to a slow roll boil. Heat until mixed well. Store in fridge) 2 shots Triple Sec 3 shots fresh lime juice (I usually just use 2 limes) Shake with ice
You are welcome.

I've missed your recent whining but thank you all the same. My stepfather thinks he makes the best margaritas on the planet. I'd like to prove him wrong. ha hahahahaha

You need to substitute agave for honey and Cointreau for triple sec if you want to win an award. My favorite tequila in a margarita us Forteleza blanco.

My recipe is much more simple and fail safe. Go to store, purchase a bottle of Salvador's, chill and drink. If you want frozen, put it in the freezer overnight and let it rip. proof.media/best-ready-to-drink-margaritasno muss, no fuss....... Salvador's pre mixed margaritas are regularly cited as the best ready to drink margaritas currently on store shelves — and I'm inclined to agree. Made with top shelf liquor, Salvador's margaritas are fairly strong and are rated as 26-proof cocktails. They also are affordable, with most stores selling them around $7 per gallon of the cocktail. Flavor-wise, Salvador's is citrusy and sweet but doesn't have the overly syrupy flavor that most pre mixed margaritas will have. For those who like a subtle sweetness in their margaritas, Salvador's is a perfect pick. All things considered, Salvador's is a great choice for people who enjoy quality pre mixed margaritas at a reasonable price. In terms of best value for your dollar, Salvador's definitely reigns supreme.

Great, it 7:00 am, and I want a margarita.
Maybe I'll set up a margarita tasting for tonight.

My recipe consists of buying a bottle of premade Costco Margarita.
Chill
Unscrew top, remove slow pour spout.
Pour into glass and enjoy!

My boss told me he didn't drink tequila but wanted a good one for a party they were attending. He had to bring a good bottle of tequila. I told him to buy silver Patron, but that it was expensive so he better like the people. He told me he did. Ha. It was his way of finding out what to get me for Christmas. There was no party. Mmmm.

Dh's are the best! 1/3 fresh squeezed lime juice 1/3 good tequila (we like Sauza Tres Generaciones Añejo and Jose ceurvo reserve de la familia) 1/3 cointreau Agave to taste, pour over ice ** Use agave on the rim to make the salt stick They knock you on your but, but they are so dang good!

If only I had not super over-imbibed on tequila the night before my graduation in 1983...*sigh* It's been 35 years and I still can't get anywhere near it. Drink one for me, ladies!

Start with a mostly mix margarita and increase the alcohol. I highly suggest silver Patron. I can't stand most alcohol, but love this. I got sick on Dum Dums when I was in labor, and it took me years of going to the bank (always had them in a cup) to try one again. We graduated the same year!

For years, I wouldn't drink tequila in any form, not even in a margarita, because of a friend who over-imbibed one night when we went to a party our junior year of high school with her brother and his college friends. Just witnessing how sick she was made me never want to drink tequila EVER. LOL
On another note, what is the difference between silver and gold tequila in a margarita? One of my children's SO will be here this weekend, and I am making margaritas, but I only have gold tequila.

Isn't it funny how you get sick on something once, and you are just done with it? Almost 21 years ago, my husband had appendicitis and was sicker than a dog. His last meal was homemade pizza. To this day, he will not eat homemade pizza. He eats pizza, but not homemade, of any kind. Logically, he knows the pizza didn't make him sick, but he will not even take a bite.

Yes, it exactly for this reason that I can't/won't drink Long Island Iced Tea...or eat chili dogs. Two completely separate incidents - the Long Island Iced Tea over-imbibing was while I was in college, and it took a while before I'd even drink regular (non-alcoholic) iced tea, LOL! The chili dog incident was while I was pregnant for DD#1...never again! I think we get an actual physical aversion to foods/drinks we associate being extremely sick with. My DS had a hard time eating BBQ ribs for a while after getting a stomach bug where the BBQ ribs were the last thing he ate.

Sounds good, but I've always had the best luck using agave in my margaritas.
There's something about the symmetry of the agave and tequila coming from the same source...makes just an outstanding margarita.
2 1/2 oz silver tequila, + or - depending on how strong you want it 1 oz fresh lime juice with a little pulp 1 tablespoon agave nectar 1 1/2 tablespoon water lime for garnish fluer de sel for rimming the glass

I had a margarita tonight at a little Mexican restaurant. It lasted about 5 minutes. My husband got the more expensive one and I could really tell the difference.

Does anyone have a good blender for making margarita ice? We have the Magic Bullet, but the ice comes out all different sizes.

Gold tequila is a bit of a misnomer, and was mainly used to market a standard tequila as a premium back in the 70s and 80s. Yes, I'm looking at you Cuervo. real tequila has three classifications: blanco, sometimes called silver. This is non- aged tequila. Reposado is tequila that has been aged in oak barrels for at least 2 and no more than 12 months. Anjeo tequila has been aged for 12+ months. As tequila ages it gets smoother and develops flavors some nautrally, some from the wood of the barrel. Just like whiskey. My personal opinion is that only silver or blanco tequila should be in a margarita. I find the aged, oaky flavor of repo or anjeo to be at odds with the lime. Others disagree with me. Anjeo tequilas are best sipped like whiskey or brandy

We have a Margaritaville machine and it's the best investment kitchen wise we have made! I think when we first got it it was $300, but it was on sale at BB&B for $100 something and my sister used a coupon for 20% and got it for under $100 recently.
