I can just imagine the frustration that's going to be caused by trying to flick backwards and forward between different pages with everything loading slowly.

Me too @avocado lol! I read through the blog post and I feel stressed lol. JK of course. There are much more important things! Truthfully, I appreciate that they're aware of the major issues they've had in the past and that they're trying to make it a smoother process but wow...I feel like it's going to take an act of Congress to get my order through (if I order that is). I'm glad I already have a stupid big Christmas stash. I have lots of options as it is. I'm not even planning on ordering anything and the blog post stressed me out too. lol . Sounds like she's anticipating some stuff will sell out in minutes again. Argh. I know predicting quantities is impossible, but geez louise. Last year they did a second order period they messed it up so badly. Order enough the first time, Inked. I do think it's intentional for the FOMO, though.
This is going to be my DD year of using what I've got. And that's it. I got a OLW album for 6.99 I think during the last sale. I'm either going to paint the cover, or cover it in a brown paper bag and embellish it. Seriously. The DD albums were a good deal at $20..$25 I'm not as excited about.

It does look a little similar to the setup they already have for the kits if you have more than one subscription...but I'm still not entirely sure it's better than just listing everything on one page...other than I do hate the way Inked pages are set up by loading only 6 things at a time...
But it would be nice if everything that is old had it's own tab.

The whole thing stresses me out which is why I’ve never bought anything from ali for DD. I refuse to be that stressed out to shop.

Why can’t everything in the DD category just load in one fellow swoop without categories or the scrolling issue of death? Why won’t Ink invest in load testing software and fix the dang issue once and for all? But again, people put up with it, so why spend the profits to fix the issue? I am glad I am not interested in anything this year. I have officially lost my AE fangirl status.

Also, another rave for Elle’s Studio! I placed my order Thursday night, it shipped Friday, and arrived today after the holiday weekend! Woohoo! I can’t wait to play with the new product!!

This seems like some passive-aggressive, pre-emptive scolding nonsense, on top of being a red flag that the system will probably be even more non-functional than usual. I find it *obnoxious* to include some dismissive hand-slapping about not focusing on products in an absurdly long blog post detailing the navigational/retail strategy that will yield the greatest likelihood of you having the opportunity to purchase most of the products on your list. I was planning to pick up an album, plus some odds & ends, but am reconsidering, especially since KP, FYC, and other companies have DD releases sans the tut-tutting about how shallowly materialistic I am for wanting to buy their products.

She’s tirned this into the cabbage patch shit show from the 80s. Ugly ass dolls that everyone had to have. Her designs are not even all that wow anymore, other companies have taken notes and are here to play. And take our money that she doesn’t want because she’s too busy trying to create FOMO.

I find it hillarious that she has that as #4 on her list. Instead of, say, #1 since isn't her ultimate goal telling stories not selling things? Oh wait...

I received my simple stories kit that I ordered from scrapbook. Com. The album is lovely! It's got the 2 inch spine. I especially like the puffy stickers and the 6 by 8 paper Pad too. I bought a stamp set from the new release at Simon Says Stamp Plan to add some gold accents from my stash and I'm all set for DD.
I have been considering buying the kids kit again from Ali. My son and I really enjoyed putting that together last year. We'll have to wait till tomorrow to see what the kids kit looks like and then I'll decide. Really don't like all the drama surrounding the ordering process though so I'm glad I got the rest of my DD supplies elsewhere.

I was looking at all my albums last night and I keep leaning more toward SS than AE, because my lone AE album is taller than my SS ones and looks out of place. Are all the papers that come inside it lovely too?

The kit also included the card pack ,the bits and pieces and the numbers. Then I purchased separately the 6 by 8 paper pad ,the puffy stickers and the card stock stickers. I think it was a really good deal for the money. It will match a previous simple stories album that was the darker wood grain Christmas one.

I don't see any mention of the cart timer, which I think would solve the problem of items selling out before customers are able to check out.

Honestly I think this whole "selection period" thing is just dumb. Why can't they order enough product that things won't sell out in 2 minutes, just put the stuff up for sale, and start shipping orders right away. Like every other company in the world. Or do a true pre-order, as customers have been suggesting to AE for years. Ordering scrapbook supplies shoudn't require a huge blog post detailing exactly how we should go about it Ali talks a good game, but I do think she kind of enjoys turning this into a clusterf*** every year..

It's specifically stated to get your favorites first and do multiple check outs because nothing "in your cart" is guaranteed until you pay for it. So, don't be materialistic jerks but HURRY UP AND BUY ALL THE STUFF IN AS MANY CHECKOUTS AS POSSIBLE AND DON'T WHINE LATER!

Bravo!!! I thought the same thing when I got an email detailing the order selection an hour ago. Like how many different times does she have to walk people through her unreasonably complicated check out (stole that line from the tv show Shameless). I agree, she likes her fan girls going nuts. She was hoping for that with her dd prep party.

It is super bitchy to give people tips on how to overcome their business deficits and then to tell you before you even order to shut up if you miss out on something you wanted due to their business deficits.
Looks like they found the only place left to apply the old SC principle. She keeps this shit up, she's going to see a ghost town just like SC does.

Also, the trigger-mechanism on our “add-to-cart” may be hyper-sensitive, may be completely non-responsive, or may vascilate wildly between the two extremes! Attempts to correct for accidentally added items are likely to cause you to forfeit all of said item, so your best bet is probably to purchase whatever quantity appears in your cart & hope to recoup the costs later by selling the extras. Remember, though, the most important part of DD is the memories you make along the way!

I received my simple stories kit that I ordered from scrapbook. Com. The album is lovely! . Thanks for posting this! I was going to ask today if anyone had seen it in person. I'm more than likely going to order this as I'm not crazy about the albums AE is offering, plus I like the Simple Stories pattern a lot.

I think I just need to push the button on the SS album and page protectors at Scrapbook.com. I have a cold and feel terrible so am not getting up in the middle of the night to put an order in with Ali.

Ok I just ordered my album plus 2 extra lots of page protectors for $35 so think that's a pretty good deal. Very disappointed with the album options from Ali this year.

I keep trying to remind myself that I did a lot of pages out of pockets last year so I don’t need 31! (Last year I put 50 into a simple stories plus the out of pocket stuff, and it was ridiculous.. it doesn’t shut 😂, I’m trying to tone down my approach this year!)

I actually called her a greedy ass bitch today after that blog post. Apparently she has been spending too much time with April. (I should add, I feel bad about thinking that, but like DH says - you didn't come to that conclusion on your own. Her actions helped.)

I'm not sure if they want a "cluster***" every year, but I do agree that a "selection period" with a long lead time until shipping, and limited quantities doesn't make sense once you think about it. Really it should be one or the other. The only reason for a selection period with a long shipping time would seem to be to get orders and money in first and then manufacture the kits. If that's the case there should be no "sell out" since as long as an order is paid for they should be able to get the product (and of course they are not allowing orders to be cancelled this year). But if instead they have truly ordered all of the product in advance - hence the "limited quantity/ estimates may be off" sell-out drama then it should not take 2 months to ship the orders. They should be able to ship right away because they should already have all of the product. This disconnect is the main reason people are dissatisfied every year. If orders sold out and product shipped right away as happens on QVC or HSN - people would understand. What is harder to understand is all of the build up and then a quick sell out and then the product still does not ship for 2 months. There's a disconnect there that is never really explained in any of the blog posts or the Facebook Live.

So tomorrow I plan on staying home all day tomorrow and evaluating my December Daily collection of products I have accumulated. I know I will need an album & a set of numbers this year - but I want to take a good look and see what all is in my cabinet. I am debating the simple Story gold numbers from sb.com - I just wish I knew how large they actually are in real life and can't find that info anywhere.
